- Bill Voigt was a pilot during World War II. He ferried cargo in C-46 Commandos and flew C-54 Skymasters in the Berlin Airlift (Operation Vittles). He talks about his pilot training, the types of missions he flew during and after WWII, and about his time at Dover Air Force Base, Delaware.

Thank you Bill for your service to our country. It was men like you that made this country. on a side question, what is that blinking red light to your right behind you?
It is IMPORTANT to note that on June 1 1948, the Air Transport Command (ATC)was disbanded and Military Air Transport Service (MATS) took over, therefore; The Berlin Airlift was flown by MATS, not ATC.
Brilliant video, so interesting to listen to Bill. I wounder, during the Berlin airlift, did Bill ever fly in to RAF Northolt, this RAF base just up the road to where I live.
Wonderful to hear the experiences of such a great man. Thanks so much for your service to our country. He kept saying his favorite airplane, the one over there but the camera never would show what his favorite airplane was. I'm still guessing. Thanks for sharing this.
