Had the recall done on Tuesday at Grange Brentwood. 2019 SE. Back the same day. That's it's 3rd recall. 1. Jaguar decals on doors/wing sreplaced as originals were stick on type that peeled off 2. Parking actuator wiring harness replaced due to "gearbox fault detected'" on screen and car suddenly braking. 3. Battery fire issue.
Having owned 6 new Jaguars over 20 years, switching to Maserati in 2015, I'm no stranger to issues with Jaguars! However last year when I decided to change my very reliable Maserati Ghibli Diesel, I took a look at the I-Pace, but thanks to the chip shortages so many of the features you would expect and used to be fitted were no longer available. The other car I was waiting to see was the new Genesis Electrified G80- an EV executive saloon who's main rival was the forthcoming Mercedes EQE. I saw the G80 at an electric car show in Farnborough in April 22. and immediately placed an order for a fully optioned car which I took delivery of in July. In the last year the car has been completely reliable, and compared to my previous Jaguar's and the Maserati I have to say this is the most outstanding car I have owned. Its overall refinement is something akin to a Rolls Royce, and the level of tech and features rivals or exceeds that of its competition. I understand the car was styled by Bentley's ex head of design, and it attracts attention everywhere I go, with most thinking its some kind of Bentley, or possibly Aston Martin costing anything from £150 to one estimate of £300k! The actual price for my fully loaded car is actually around £80k, which is some 10k less than the equivalent Mercedes. Finally the customer service from Genesis is absolutely hands down the best I have encountered. Clearly Genesis are trying to establish themselves in the luxury car sector, and are firmly trying to offer a class leading ownership experience. Finally, in case anyone is wondering, no i dont work for Genesis, just a very happy customer, who would happily admit to being very fussy!!
I had the H441 recall done by Grange Jaguar before I even got the letter from Jag. In and out in an hour, with no issues. I've a MY19 iPace and it has been faultless so far.
my heater went in Dec 2020 after 4 months from new but only took 3 weeks to replace one of those being Christmas H441 0n 24my done over the air no issues.
In the ipace forum I am in they are saying that this is the H441 recall and its a software update that monitors the battery and warns if there is a risk...
I had the H441 update installed then charged to 100% three times on AC but on first DC charge it cut off at 72%, which seemed strange. Called Jaguar Assistance and they sent out a JLR tech. Did reasonable check and convinced this was related to updated BECM software, despite discrepancy in charge level cut off. Now only charges to 72% even on AC. Due in to dealer in couple of weeks. Drives normally but with big warning!
Mmmm that’s disappointing to hear. I had to take mine in due to the model year and they tried several times but couldn’t get it to update. Awaiting an update from the dealer….
@@electricfocus1710 My concern was that the charge stopped at 72%, not at 75%, seemed odd. All checks came back to the H441 mod. Strange that it didn't activate the cut off on AC charging, both home and in a car park (it was the only vacant parking bay!!) but did on first rapid charge, only 50kW. Bit of a nuisance on the return journey but OK. I did also have a major shutdown, when the car simply felt like the parking brake was activated, ended up on trailer and the Power Distribution Box replaced, under warranty. I also had a windscreen leak, no apparent damage beyond a drip onto the touch screens. Dealt with.
I did get a recall letter from JLR through DVLA. The JLR advice to dealers is to expect more people coming in with restricted charging after installing the H441 upgrade to BECM. Suggests a very low trigger value but I am all for caution.
Just come across your videos,as I was considering buying a used 2019 I pace, but iam certainly put off by the issues, esp now as you say the batteries could be lethal. If the go out of warrenty, jaguar won't be interested....
As per a few comments JLR haven’t got the best reputation for relatability but I have enjoyed having the I-PACE. Agree it’s a concern re the battery issue although it doesn’t impact all I-PACEs apparently so might be worth checking if the update is needed if you are still considering.
Took my 2019 I Pace to the dealership to have the software update installed ...only to be told that the vehicle would not accept the updated software. They have to contact Jaguar Technical Assistance for help. Very frustrating !
So I bought a 2019 I pace about 10 days ago, this is interesting...if after this short space of time I have to do this I may have to look at money back and get something else
Had mine done on Friday. Two hours and a nice clean car in and out. I don't understand your disappointment. First you sound disappointed that they are not replacing the whole battery, then say it would be inconvenient IF a fault is detected and the car has to go in for repair. Replacing all batteries would be a massive job, hugely disruptive to customers and totally unnecessary because the vast majority of batteries are perfectly fine.
Had the update 10 days ago, It detected 2 days ago an error in charging, now having a limit of 72% and hybrid battery error while having 13.1v in 12v Battery ... Dealer is on Holiday, wonder how they will solve it ...
On the GM Bolt you referred to them GM has done the exact same as Jaguar, probably initiated by LG Chem (battery manufacturer). GM have halted the 100% change they were initially rolling out to replace batteries and vehicles of a certain age are now just getting a software monitoring update now. If the monitoring software detects issue it will limit charging and then flag as an issue for replacement. Just as Jaguar are now implementing. Obviously this is just a cost saving measure and not really airing on the side of caution and safety by replacing faulty batteries. Means there is likely to be more fires than there needs to be and very much decrease in safety for users. 🤷🏼♂️ Whatever happened to Jaguars big promises of adding features and over the air updates etc…? In many respects it has been a pretty poor show from Jaguar all round? You’d expect them to have had a load of EV models along with LR but again there is next to nothing. From the initial entry point in to the market as ‘Car of the Year’ for the iPace it has been a downward slope ever since. Would you buy another or opt to try something different?👍🏻
Thanks for the info on GM and yes agree re not much progress from Jaguar since launch. I still enjoy the drive but would like to see faster charging so right now there are some better choices….
Best I’ve seen is 280. Wheels make a difference, I have 20” so 22” would see slightly less range. Average is 225 to 235 and I get that most of the year round.
U 😂heard about the new battery malfunction causing the car to accelerate upto 90mph and the brakes also not working. Ev cars are looking to be the next biggest scam.
You appear very calm and be this the first video that I watch on your channel you also strike me as an intelligent person.., here is what I do not understand...why Jaguar?... it was clear from the very first reviews of this car after its launch that it wasn't a great EV project... I appreciate the brand affiliation (trust me I owned in my life several BMWs...hehehehe). Still, logic should come into play when taking certain decisions (cars are not cheap)... the I-pace project never held sufficient credibility IMHO. Get something better.

On reflection I agree that didn’t come across as I intended so amended slightly.
They are replacing all the whole batteries on cars sold in America, I would want this done

Could you please explain the fix undertaken for the frunk leak.
The windscreen had a leak and was resealed.
@electricfocus1710 I meant the under the bonnet leak, where you had the charging cable stored!
So did I, they said the water was coming from the leak in the windscreen.
@electricfocus1710 oh wow! Mine is a separate one then. They have diagnosed the plastic panel bonding has come loose letting water in.
@electricfocus1710 thank you for your responses!
I've been following the incessant hatchet jobs that the Daily Mail and GB News are doing on EVs. This recall will be meat and veg to them.
Who cares what the Daily Fail write its just toxic lies.
