- In this video I attempt to fix an iPod Touch 1st Gen that I bought off Ebay. the iPod was listed as for parts or repair cause it was stuck on the Apple logo.

This is my 4th video in a series where I buy cheap "parts/repair or untested" electronics off Ebay and try to fix them by spending little or no money than the price I bought them for. I have done such repairs in the past but did not record them.
The rules for my purchases are as follows -
1. Usually Cheaper than 10$ usually, will make exceptions for special cases.
2. Preferably should not be physically damaged (eg: lcd's and digitizers) where replacement of parts is obvious.
3. Batteries will be purchased if needed and only if worth the price.
Stay tuned for more videos similar to this and as always, feedback is welcome!
Thanks for the video. I just bought a 1st gen that is behaving exactly like yours did. I just thought it was a bad battery but i may give this method a try first!
The plastic piece at the 4:13 mark is a stand for the iPod touch. I never used it during the time I had one. My common issue with this model was a dead pixel in the lower right hand corner. I later sold my iPod touch to a secondhand bookstore. It was a great device.
just fyi the "itunes" was removed from mac during the mac os mojave update, its now just called "music"
you use finder for the new itunes stuff
ikr its so tiring to deal with.
Hi there! I m receiving error 28 every single time I tried to restore... Very frustrating. Any idea? Thank you in advance!

Big thanks man !! i had the exact same problem and had tryed just about everything before i saw ur video ! and it worked out for me too :)
Glad it helped you out!
Hi, I have a G1 and it continuously loops between the Apple logo and the low charge screen (Battery logo). Is there a button sequence I should try or is it a hardware issue, like the battery?
Reset via iTunes
My G1 operates just fine, but the charger (the one in the iPod, not the cord) seems to have some bent pins or something ,it will only charge in a weird old speaker dock I have and won't connect to a computer using a cord unless I really bend the charger very hard. Can that part even be replaced?!
Yes you can but finding the replacement part will be quite hard...you however can get a broken similar one for 6-10$ and take the port outa that one
yeah, messed with a 1st gen for a while and through trial and error went with itunes 11 on a win7 machine using ipsw file 1.3.1.3 and it unbricked
My biggest problem was turning the iPod on and seeing a lock screen...
After about three guesses, it said "Restore it in iTunes" ... That is where I'm at now.
I'm not an Apple person and I don't have an iTunes. But I do desperately want to unlock the iPod (without factory resetting it) so I can reminisce.
i get an error 1600 when I tried to restore and upgrade
why i cant enter dfu mode and recovery mode
I have an ipod touch first generation, and it has white screen, but if you try to slide to unlock and wearing earbuds, you can hear the clicking sound as if it's unlocked, but the screen remains white, I tried factory reset and it does connect to itunes, and took it to a place and they tried resetting too but it's a white screen still, no apple logo or anything just white, do you have any ideas? thank you
So it goes into the OS but still white screen means either the screen connector has come loose or the screen itself is damaged...worst case scenario, the display IC is shot but that's unlikely...either way you have to open it up
@@Techformative557 thank you so much for the reply! I will try to open it then. I'm very newbie to this, I've never tried to repair anything so I will have to watch a lot of youtube videos. I hope I can fix it, thank you again!
THANK YOU!! IT WORKED!!!🙏🙏🙏
Hey I need ur help I got an iPod touch like this but when I restore it with iOS 3.1.3 it shows an iTunes error 1603 the iPod just becomes black
