The more you practise, the better you will get at identifying the right undertone for clients. b. Unfortunately, this also comes with practise.. Currently obsessed with this whole undertone thing and its relation to color theory! This was SO helpful! Thank you! What is most valuable to me is seeing theory APPLIED the way you matched your own skin. I would love to see a video where you analyzed people’s undertones the way you did yours. I got a Tomlinson color wheel and it changed my game. Terri sees all red undertones as WARM, though, and I’m now freshly confused, as I thought pink undertones in fair skin read cool. Just when I think I’m getting a grip on this, I’m not! lol Anyway, super helpful vid! Many thanks!
Thanks so much Judith, glad you are having fun with colour theory. I would generally consider pink as warm since it has mostly red as it's base. But cosmetic brands make it confusing by naming their pink based foundations cool! The only time I would consider pink leaning cool is if it has a bit of purple in it. Ah, I would love to have different people on my channel to analyze their undertone but I live in a foreign country and don't know many people here (also considering the current Covid situation, I don't think it's a possibility).
@@Beautylashes19 with that being said, why do other teachers keep saying that magenta is a cool color, but because of the red in this color, shouldn't it be warm?

@@shubhrapant6482 I would base it on the tones you see on the rest of the body, especially shoulder, arms and chest.. I often use more than one shade to mimic the tones in different areas of the face..
Can you recommend any foundation that matches your face exactly, i havw my sister having yellow-green tinge medium to dusky, close match till now she found is fenty beauty 290 which matches to her neck (her neck is lighter than her face)
Sure, I was matched to 290 too in Fenty and although it matches my neck when stretched, it doesn't when I look straight ahead as my double chin casts a shadow on my neck 😬 Anyway, the best colour match so far is Dior backstage face and body in 4WO.. something a bit deeper is flower beauty light illusion in Tawny.
I generally use the cinema secrets foundation for my freelance work and I don't use sunscreen for photoshoots. But I did test it on the two sunscreens I have currently - La Roche Posay Anthelios 50+ (good for combo to oily skin) and Beautypie ultralight UVA/UVB spf 25 (better for dry to normal skin) and the foundation does not ball up with either of them. I hope this helps 😊
@@maxmilik8711 maybe ask your teachers or someone who works exclusively in the Indian market. I work on all skintones so I carry the whole spectrum in various brands..
Sorry I don't remember most of the shades arranged around the colour wheel as I had just picked up single eyeshadows at random from my custom made palettes. The outer single eyeshadow in yellow is illamasqua hype and the outer dark brown is Bobbi brown chocolate.
Pink can lean either cool or warm depending on the ratio of red to violet in it.. but generally most pinks are considered warm since they have more red through them.
Healthy skin does have an acidic pH. So, I think you are referring to that. Foundation darkens mostly due to a process called oxidation which is based on the ingredients of the foundation, your natural skin oils and air. This process is quite similar to an apple or potato slice going dark on oxidation. If you take care of your skin and find a perfect match, it should not oxidize unless you change your skincare and it affects your skin condition.
Hmm maybe use some kids crayons or any other art tool to make a colour wheel of your own and then use it against your skin tone to see what tones you can see. This does require eyes that can see colours in skin tones (if that makes sense)..
Beautylashes19 thanks for the reply! Chickadee was the orange brown. It looks like it might’ve been desert sands or preppy, which are both discontinued. Thank you for the content and the reply 🤗
I’m fair and I have olive undertones. So very yellow. And let me tell you it’s a pain to find fair foundation with olive or yellow undertones because apparently you can’t be fair with those tones😑 Fact of the matter is that you can be any combination of shade and undertone. Some combinations are very common. Especially where you’re from. For example I’m Portuguese so olive undertones is common. But that doesn’t mean every Portuguese has an olive undertone. If you’re stuck between two colors, you’re best bet is to go what’s common cause odds are that’ll look best
I have a warm olive to olive undertone when I consider my entire body (depending on how much tan I get).. If I don't wear foundation and just want to spot conceal, my face is more olive (blue green to green) in undertone..
Hiya - I got a little confused when you were matching your skin you colour using that wheel. Which ring were you trying to match? ?? Loved the video...you are a true professional. Lots of love xxxx I need to re watch your video. 😘
Haha, thank you. No worries 😁 it was mostly to the outer ring since that's meant for medium skin tone. But, not everyone is going to be an exact match to it so I also look at the inner rings to check if the skin tone is in between shades (if that makes sense).

Would love to understand how to manage foundation when neck is much lighter & possibly yellower than the face? Any suggestions?
@@shubhrapant6482 I would base it on the tones you see on the rest of the body, especially shoulder, arms and chest.. I often use more than one shade to mimic the tones in different areas of the face..
If I get any undertone then how can I change it into human skin tone, it's like which color should I mix to change an undertone to a real skin tone!??
All undertones are seen in human skin tone.. and I wouldn't recommend changing it..
@@Beautylashes19 thank you so much
You're welcome 😊
Love the informative video !
What mic, lighting and camera do you use?
Thanks, Canon 70D, daylight coming through window on most days or box +/- ring lighting on rainy/gloomy days, Tascam recorder/phone for audio..
What spf do you recommend for under Cinema Secrets foundation? I use Supergoop moisturizer with spf and it balls up. Soo frustrating. Thank you
I generally use the cinema secrets foundation for my freelance work and I don't use sunscreen for photoshoots.
Beautylashes19 , Thank you for sharing your knowledge 🙏👏❤️
This helped a great deal
So happy to hear that 😊

Hello which palette from cinema secrets works on Indian skin tone?Pls let me know.
Indian skin tone varies so much! So I can't really recommend one palette for all..
Thanks for the response.
Just finished my cosemetology school. Was wondering which palette would be good for my kit🤔
@@maxmilik8711 maybe ask your teachers or someone who works exclusively in the Indian market. I work on all skintones so I carry the whole spectrum in various brands..
@@Beautylashes19 ok thanks
Can you please list the name of the makeup palettes and eyeshadows, thank you!
Sorry I don't remember most of the shades arranged around the colour wheel as I had just picked up single eyeshadows at random from my custom made palettes. The outer single eyeshadow in yellow is illamasqua hype and the outer dark brown is Bobbi brown chocolate.
3:10 It confused me a bit. So pink is also warm? All this time i thought pinkish tone is cool. 🥴🥴🥴
Pink can lean either cool or warm depending on the ratio of red to violet in it.. but generally most pinks are considered warm since they have more red through them.
I loved! New Follower

What if u have acidic skin where the foundation tends to darken after some time? Then finding the perfect match could be useless?
Healthy skin does have an acidic pH. So, I think you are referring to that. Foundation darkens mostly due to a process called oxidation which is based on the ingredients of the foundation, your natural skin oils and air. This process is quite similar to an apple or potato slice going dark on oxidation.
If you take care of your skin and find a perfect match, it should not oxidize unless you change your skincare and it affects your skin condition.
What would be the least expensive way to find my tone and undertone?
Hmm maybe use some kids crayons or any other art tool to make a colour wheel of your own and then use it against your skin tone to see what tones you can see. This does require eyes that can see colours in skin tones (if that makes sense)..

You are so welcome ❤️
Which eyeshadow is the green brown?
Sorry I don't remember exactly but it could be Chickadee from makeupgeek.
Beautylashes19 thanks for the reply! Chickadee was the orange brown. It looks like it might’ve been desert sands or preppy, which are both discontinued. Thank you for the content and the reply 🤗
Ah, it bothered me so much that I went through my eyeshadow stash and found it😉! It's paper tiger by colourpop. I hope this helps 💕
Beautylashes19 yes, I found and bought it! I was totally missing exactly this in my collection. Thank you so much for your sweetness!! 🥰
Amazing! so glad you were able to find it 😃
I’m fair and I have olive undertones.
How to dry skin mkp
For dry skin, skin prep is especially important. So, hydration is key with a good moisturizer. Makeup always looks nice on hydrated skin.
Underrated video! So interesting and helpful 🎉
Thank you so much 🤗🥰❤️
so may i know what have you decided finally that you have neutral undertone.... blue green..
I have a warm olive to olive undertone when I consider my entire body (depending on how much tan I get).. If I don't wear foundation and just want to spot conceal, my face is more olive (blue green to green) in undertone..
oh thanks for the reply
No neutral?
What do you mean?
Hiya - I got a little confused when you were matching your skin you colour using that wheel. Which ring were you trying to match? ??
Loved the video...you are a true professional. Lots of love xxxx
I need to re watch your video. 😘
Haha, thank you. No worries 😁 it was mostly to the outer ring since that's meant for medium skin tone. But, not everyone is going to be an exact match to it so I also look at the inner rings to check if the skin tone is in between shades (if that makes sense).
💓
Ok thoroughly confused sis lol... break it down very Elementary lol ... I was with you until the skin tone area
