Love it that you brought up 'On Every Street'. The part of that track that constantly brings me to tears is when the drums come in. I'm sure that most people are unaware that it's the late Jeff Porcaro from Toto on drums, and he sprinkles the magic dust on this track. Interestingly he also played drums on Dave Gilmour's first solo album.
Wow I didn’t know that! I just had a quick google too; so sad! And he passed so close to the album/track being released. It’s a magic moment for me as well. Such a talent.
"...she was indistinguishable from Gilmour..." You finally said something so ridiculous it made you chuckle. This is an important moment and we're all proud of you.
I was actually laughing at the idea of “bringing yourself to tears” after this lesson as opposed to laughing at Gab. I’m already down 2 guitars, feel like Ian Beale.
I learnt this arpeggio yesterday evening on another YT channel! Unbelievable. This evening I'll relearn it watching your tutorial, I'm sure I'll learn something more! Thanks. Last week I learnt Planet of New Orleans just listening to the song: great chords! (and 3 great solos). But my favourite is Fade to black, same album. I learnt the chords, but I have to look for a tutorial about the guitar solos cause it's too difficult for me.
What an addicting feeling it is when you finally learn something and put it all together. Keep at it Gab! I don't think I've ever heard this Knopfler riff before, but now I'll get right to learning it
I’ll pass on Jon, thanks! It’s so cool to be able to show you this for the first time. It blows my mind sometimes that people might hear me play something before they hear the original and then go learn it. Hope you dig the lesson. 🤝🏻
@@SpedSpedding Hey brother! Glad to hear Gab has got a good thing goin on the geeetar! Hell brother, you got a very good and settling way of teaching. This is one of those lessons to which we can apply a fancy term like "etude." It may not be something that we would pick on our own but working on it will improve our finger style skills and rhythm. You know what we need and what is good for us! It is a sweet and heart-stirring riff though.
Fantastic riff Sped Thanks for sharing Mark is an incredible guitarist and musician The man’s a genius Sounds like gabs deserves your strat for going her guitar prowess . Congrats Gabs 🎸👏👏👏😎
RED. SUN. Good one! Got it on vinyl; exquisite control and tone throughout. Could almost be a Santana song, if you know what I mean? What’s your favourite part?
Intro, who would pick anything else? I suppose the solo, love all his knopler-esk playing and I feel like lions is the best track on the album that shows his unique playing and adds in some swells. Love your dire straits stuff Vinyl collection video? Cheers
Very cool Sped. This is exactly what I've been looking for. I'm still waiting for the day when Gabby will be referred to as Mrs. Spedding. Not trying to pressure or anything...
We’ve just hit 13 years strong together! Married one day for sure, maybe after sorting out the RSJ and bathroom… 😅 And I’d never take away her beautiful Italian surname. We’d both stay as we are. 🤌🏻
It’s funny, because if you heard my attempts at playing what you’ve taught me you’d cry for completely different reasons… more along the lines of “my god, what has this guy done to this song?! I didn’t teach it like that.” 😂
Yep! this is exactly why I come here.... Some great playing tied to some proper humour, not shitty having a dig, proper humour! Thanks for making me say to my missus, "This guy is so cool, but not!" i was crying so much my tears hit my pickups which in turn sent a shock up to my face which threw me across the room hitting my amp cabinet that fell over and landed on my dog's tail where he let out a scream that startled the baby and the wife got pissed i woke the baby.....
Do I want the hairs on the back of my arse to stand up? I dunno, but I do want to learn On Every Street because ... well Knopfler. Brilliant album On Every Street.
