    Man these colors are so great! Awesone shots! I've been noticing that Panny footage is easier to make look "natural" than XT4 footage, which i see you also shoot. The XT4 lends itself to a stylized look while the panny S5 & Gh5 are easier to mske look nice and vivid but still seem more natural. Am I on to something?

    • @movichris
      @movichris  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      you are right. The Pana S5 has a more natural look, especially on skin tones. The X-T4 has a bit more filmic look if you shoot with the Eterna profile. But if you are shooting in F-Log or V-log, you get similar results with both cameras

    This looks really cinematic! Do you prefer the image over fujifilms?

    • @movichris
      @movichris  3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      In terms of color grading, both the S5 and XT4 are easy to grade with V-log and F-log. I prefer the F-log footage from the XT4 as the grain in high ISO looks better than the V-log. The XT4 can shoot All-Intra internally, which makes it easier to edit on Premiere than Long GOP on the S5. But I prefer using the S5 for filming as I didn’t get overheat warnings when shooting 4K 60p.

    Did you add grain in the colouring? I couldnt help notice quite a bit of it throughout on the blacks. If its artistic thats cool, if its not it is surprising seeing it in scenes that seemed to have ok light. Very interested to know. I am looking to upgrade from my GH5 & G9 due to low light ability.

    • @movichris
      @movichris  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I deliberately use high ISO from ISO 4000-8000, that’s why there’s visible grain/noise on the blacks.

      @@movichris appreciate the response. What is the overall experience been like with the camera?

    • @movichris
      @movichris  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The handling and ergonomics are very similar to the Panasonic G9. The IBIS is effective like the GH5, much better than the Sony A7III and A7c. I didn’t have overheat issues when filming 4K60p, the Fuji cameras will have overheat issues. As for AFC, it’s not responsive and fast, but it’s slightly better than the GH5 and G9 when you shoot at 30fps or 60fps. Battery life is good too. I mostly use vintage lenses on the camera so I can say the IBIS is really more effective than Sony and Fuji cameras

      I render and export the video as Prores 422 HQ, but it seems like TH-cam will compress it so I guess it makes no difference whether you export the video as ProRes or H264 TH-cam on Premiere Pro. For bit rate, I set to 45Mbps for 4K upload

    S5 and A7C which is better for video?

    • @movichris

      The S5 has much better IBIS and it can shoot 10bit video internally which is much better for color grading. A7C has more responsive and smoother autofocus in video, better battery life and more lens options. Personally I use manual focus for video, so I prefer using the S5 for serious filmmaking

      Yes I agree the GH5/G9 has better IBIS for video, and the GH6 is probably even better. If you are shooting mostly handheld and doing lots of walking and panning shots, the GH6 or the new OM-1 should be the better option

      I deliberately use high ISO from ISO 4000 onwards, to see how high ISO looks like. When shooting in 4K 60p on the S5, the video will be cropped 1.5X, so the noise will look more obvious when shooting in high ISO
