There’s no need for PR’s to live anywhere outside the US. Other nationalities live abroad because it’s easier to legally get in to Europe, South Korea, etc: PR’s have major communities in the Virgin Isalnds.
I'm ADOS (African American) and JUST FOUND OUT (like last week), that I have Puerto Rican ancestry as well. I got (4.9% Iberian) ancetry on My heritage and was kinda skeptical from my research of plenty of people on various blogs and forums saying that myheritage tends to give "Iberian" pretty liberally, but I also took the Matrilineal test on AFRICAN ANCESTRY and it came back "Portugal" so. I am NOW trying to explore and track down that side of my heritage. I'm only literally like a week into it. Peace

Good stuff - Yep, years ago all family who left PR moved directly to The Bronx/NYC, then to NJ when financially able. For the last 25+ years, it's been direct from PR to Orlando for those choosing a move to the mainland. With the exception of one cousin whose Marine husband took a police officer position near Tampa. Tampa isn't Orlando, but close enough:) Central Florida really seems to be the place for Puerto Ricans leaving PR now days.

Growing up for me it was New York that had the highest, now Florida has us beat, but as someone else stated in the comments, many of Florida's Puerto Rican population are NY transplants. It's very interesting to see how migration patterns shift over time.

My parents came to Florida in 1954: instead of many that went to new York, Illinois and New Jersey: their beginning was a very difficult time in the first time but they were able to root themselves and later bring my sisters and I: we prospered since our father began getting involved in buying rental property and selling some, keeping others plus working: never giving up on the American dream that this state was a land of opportunities if you worked and not depend on the government subside: and get an education to embeterment the future of the nation and family.

I'm from Allentown PA. I didn't finish this video yet, but I'd be surprised if PA isn't on this list. Especially in the Lehigh Valley, it's basically little Puerto Rico lol. I'm white, but I'm pretty much the only white guy on the streets when I walk. All my friends are Puerto Rican and they all have very big families. I can't speak for the rest of the state, but on the east side of PA, it's very latino.
Grew up in Orlando and Central Florida, went to North Florida and was nearly culture shocked at the lack of Puerto Ricans, only other place I’ve really ever been before that point was the Bronx! Not a great sample size lol.
Your not wrong man, it’s still growing in North Florida; mainly Jacksonville( Duval County ), and Clay county. Currently Jacksonville’s Puerto Rican population is at 34,030. It’s definitely not on the same level of course as Central Florida, buts it’s actually grown quite quickly compared to other Latino Populations in Jacksonville, Boricuas are actually the largest Latino group in Jacksonville, and there’s also a sizable South American and Mexican Population too; the Latino population is smaller of course than the Black and White Populations of Jacksonville, but it’s actually the fastest growing. It’s actually the reason why my family n I wanna move from East Texas to either Jacksonville or The Orlando area, preferably Kissimmee, Buenaventura Lakes, or St. Cloud. 💯👍🏾👍🏾🇵🇷🇵🇷🇵🇷

My family began coming up to NY after the Spanish-American War and worked and went to school. The migration of my family from Lajas, Cabo Rojo, Mayagüez and San German to NY continued til the 1950s. Some then went to California, some went to NJ and some went to Florida.

With regards to Texas, the primary reason for Puerto Ricans to move to the DFW area (not just Dallas) is due to American Airlines. If you ask any Puerto Rican in the area, they will tell you they are currently working for AA or they were previous employees of AA. And just guessing, but I guess the same can be said for those living in Orlando.

I think one of the best places that Puerto Ricans should consider moving is Oregon, North Dakota and South Dakota, Maine, Idaho, New Hampshire, Virginia, Pensilvannia and Washington State. We can adapt in almost any weather and in those places they need good workers, and Puerto Ricans work very well.

Close to 100 people if including 2nd and 3rd level relatives.

In PR now live 200,000 Dominicans , Cubans, Chinese , people from the filipines, Spain, and other nationality
And also from all South America.
Almost all dominicans living at expenses of Puerto Rican tax payers according to the USA census. The other nationalities contribute to the economy.

NYC isn’t the only city in NY that has a high pop concentration of Puerto Ricans. Buffalo has the 2nd highest followed by Rochester.

I think one of the best places that Puerto Ricans should consider moving is Oregon, North Dakota and South Dakota, Maine, Idaho, New Hampshire, Virginia, Pensilvannia and Washington State. We can adapt in almost any weather and in those places they need good workers, and Puerto Ricans work very well.
