@Animux.Studios my dad who served in the marines in that period before he resign when his tour ended said those marines can refuse to obey the orders to all everyone and take down there commanders. Yes this means the risk of being killed by your brothers is high. Yet my dad said the US military is to up hold protecting the constitution of the USA and defending the American people from anyone and anthring foreign and domestic enemies alike.

Yeah, I agree. The Combine soldiers in Half-Life Alyx (since it is still early of the Combines occupation) still have emotional like laughter and the grunts joke around (and another fact the citadel isn't finished yet so it only says "permanent relocation" not off-world). In Half-Life 2, the Combine still has consciousness (as seen on the radio at Nova Prospekt) but doesn't show emotion that much (when thought they still go "Uhh..." Like the grunts). But in Half-Life 1, these are just Marines Yet they don't show much emotion for some reason. Their voicelines show it, but their actions don't. but it was early in games, so it makes sense.
I'd like to think the grunt who clearly had a crisis of morality and ultimately sided with duty; let her go for a few seconds so that she would think she was getting saved, and had a rush of happiness and euphoria... then a shot to the brain stem was an instant off. IOW he helped her go happy, or, happy enough, making the best out of a bad situation.
this is so well made, gordon actually looks like he's developing PTSD, just imagine one second you're placing an alien crystal inside a portal looking machine, the next second you're trying to flee a massive underground facility having to fight off aliens AND the military

Hence why they fail to secure black mesa not under because of the aliens or Gordon Freeman. And that we we many Marines questioning how Gordon is killing all there guys when he is a civilian. Can you imagine this guy with a budget and a team of people? Forget just your animation skills, your direction and frames are so good. The way you tell the story is also superb, it's faithful to the game while keeping it believable and suspenseful. Keep up the great work!

Personal headcanon is the HECU detachments sent to Black Mesa were expendable units and to be detained, quarantined and exterminated at off-site holding locations once all the facility witnesses were interrogated or killed- considering the black ops involvement it wouldn't be out of the question the government would take a total "air-tight" approach to the containment of the resonance cascade and subsequent events- at least in their original plans where the incident was considered only significant enough for a rapid cleanup effort Admittedly this is my attempt to justify why they sent marines into a contaminated zone without any sealed or filtered PPE (exposed arms, hands and neck and no chemical or biological protection besides the PCV and mask, let alone radiation shielding)
people think it's cold but I personally think it adds depth and humanity to this HECU guy, that he let this scientist feel relief and hope at being rescued before he killed her, instead of complete abject terror at realising that her "rescue" team were there to slaughter everybody.

With how much they expanded on captive freight and focal point in the remake theres a lot of good stuff to work with in terms of story on that end. I'm guessing if you are able cover the opening or barneys story as well as gordon's first encounter with the HECU all in one episode this must be shaping up to be a long one. I will be sure to get the pop corn out for this release.

I know you're already very far into production on this episode, but it's not impossible to show how Gordon is able to carry more than one gun at a time. I once hiked while carrying 3 guns and a lot of ammo by using slings and a backpack. I looked a bit silly and wouldn't have fit in an air duct, but I'd like to see Gordon have more than just his plain suit. The MP5 and SPAS could easily be slung on Gordon's front & back respectively, and the Glock holstered in a duty belt taken from a dead guard or storage. Now that the military are here he could take one of their tactical vests too.

Its a rough thing to consider But the scientists and researchers who get shot by the initial sweep of HECU probably are the lucky ones with what we know happens in the future
HOLY SHIIIIT. It’s 6 am and I was going to watch some videos in bed before sleeping. When this was the first pop-up, I was excited, BUT THE MORE TIME PASSED, THE MORE HYPED I GOT. When I tell you that towards the end I had to sit the fuck up and bring my fingers to my forehead because of the disbelief… You’ve outdone yourself IMMENSELY. The quality improves each year, so of course it was natural WGH would be so high quality… but nothing could’ve prepared me for this. Absolutely UNREAL. The time, LOVE, and effort you’ve put into this is mind boggling. First, seeing the story from another person’s POV drives home just how terrifying the situation is. I really felt the female scientist’s terror, seeing all the scattered corpses and went “Oh, no…” when I saw the HECU uniform. You see some humanity from the grunt, but he still shot her mercilessly. Sad. And goddamn, the action. Gordon looks so fucking unhinged in 2:32. He looks unhinged and murderous in general. Your Gordon has been stoic, but he has shown emotion and distress in the first episodes. He’s been human. But I think the HECU will turn him into an animal. I think the sound the scientist and soldier heard was Gordon, and he’ll come from the dark and obliterate that soldier. I think seeing his innocent colleagues get put down like animals, as if they were worthless, will bring out that dark side, AND I AM HERE FOR IT. And oh lord, we also see a scientist fighting alongside a security guard? OMG, SO MUCH IS HAPPENING!!!! I HAVEN’T BEEN THIS EXCITED FOR A VISUAL MEDIA SINCE LIKE GODZILLA VS KONG. LIKE THIS IS CRAZYYY. I can’t contain my excitement. I am so becoming a Patreon supporter after this, the effort you put into this is insane. I can’t stress enough how high quality this is. The time, LOVE, and effort you’ve put into this is mind boggling. First, seeing the story from another person’s POV drives home just how terrifying the situation is. I really felt the female scientist’s terror, seeing all the scattered corpses and went “Oh, no…” when I saw the HECU uniform. You see some humanity from the grunt, but he still shot her mercilessly. Sad.
And goddamn, the action. Gordon looks so fucking unhinged in 2:32. He looks unhinged and murderous in general. Your Gordon has been stoic, but he has shown emotion and distress in the first episodes. He’s been human. But I think the HECU will turn him into an animal. I think the sound the scientist and soldier heard was Gordon, and he’ll come from the dark and obliterate that soldier. I think seeing his innocent colleagues get put down like animals, as if they were worthless, will bring out that dark side, AND I AM HERE FOR IT.
And oh lord, we also see a scientist fighting alongside a security guard? OMG, SO MUCH IS HAPPENING!!!! I HAVEN’T BEEN THIS EXCITED FOR A VISUAL MEDIA SINCE LIKE GODZILLA VS KONG. LIKE THIS IS CRAZYYY. I can’t contain my excitement.
I am so becoming a Patreon supporter after this, the effort you put into this is insane. I can’t stress enough how high quality this is. This genuinely looks like a tv show, IT’S CRAZYYY.
