Pies supporter here, that Higgins goal was fine, might have been out but its got nothing on that Jeremy Cameron goal last year. It's Aussie Rules not tennis.
Loving the content mate! Have gotten a bunch of my European and American twitch viewers into the footy in the last year & even have them participating in a fun tipping comp this year! Often show them your oddities vids cos they can't get enough even though we all watch a game or two together each week. Keep up the great work~ 💜
My interpretation of how the umpire saw the Higgins goal is that the ball didn't hit the ground out of bounds, so it was still in play as he kicked it.
Was surprised by the uncertainty amongst the umps in the first quarter of the Crows v Cats game. Four(?) different calls that seemed fairly obvious and either weren't made, required some decent consultation amongst them or took three minutes to score review.
Love seeing the pies struggle after everything Maynard said against the blues over the years lol. They look like a completely different team and how on earth do Frampton and Ash Johnson get games at this point. Absolute spuds! Especially when Noble is doing well in the VFL
Oh and Zerk-Thatcher straight up just tossed the ball up and hits it on the way down, egregious throw. Umpires should crack down - open palm ball goes up (gains elevation)? Its literally how the umps signal a throw - only exception when ball is above head height (ruck and spoil)
I might be a bias Port fan, but that was definitely 50. Butters had already marked the ball before Lynch even thought about punching the ball. And speaking of punching; his hand isn't even balled in a fist to try and punch the ball, his fingers are open. And if they made contact with the ball with his hand like that he'd probably break them. He's just gone for the old suburban footy spoil trick to clip his ear and cause some pain for the sake of causing pain hoping it'll put him off in his next marking contest.
Higgins goal clearly in, theres like 10% of the ball still over the line when he kicks it. Boundary umpire in perfect spot. BT needs to eat a bar of soap
2 weeks in a row with nothing from melbournes games? surely ONE thing was unusual across those 2 games, like petraacas defensive effort against hawthorn for example
Late contact to the head after a mark is taken somehow isn't a 50m in a crows fan opinion... and the ball coming directly of a crows players boot and going over the boundary line without being touched or hitting the ground yet somehow the crows fan says a throw in is the correct decision. You couldn't make this stuff up to be honest. Other than that good video HTB, keep up the good work!
also taranto definitely didn’t deserve a mark for that. never once controlled it. i understand booing for your team especially when the umps are letting you have it but i don’t get how my fellow richmond fans could’ve thought this was a mark.
definitely 50, butters had the mark easily then he just threw his arms up for the latest spoil possible and clobbered him in no attempt to move or brace for impact
Not entirely sure how it's "the right decision" when on replay you can see the ball deflect off the Adelaide player's boot. BT calls it the "correct decision", but surely it's better described as "the most informed decision available at the time"? The correct, right, fair decision would have been oob free kick Geelong - if that call was the right call then every Collingwood supporter up in arms about Jeremy Cameron snapping it from row AA in m46 last year had best accept that was the right call too 😂
Hi, I know it's easy to knock the umpires who have to make split decisions, unless you're a goal umpire where it's money for nothing, but. The quality of the umpiring over the past few years is just getting worse and worse. Seems all the technology isn't helping. The goal umpires are always caught out of position and with all the field umpires and the video review the decision making process is severely lacking. 50 metre penalty that are more like 80 metres. General game play just getting so frustratingly wrong week after week. It was never this bad back in the 70s with 1 umpire. And what is with all the knee and hamstring injuries? Again in the 70s maybe 1 or 2 a year across all the teams not 4 or 5 every round like we have today!?
3:41 as if the umpires blatant cheating wasn’t obvious enough with the rest of the umpiring… LOOK AT THAT. he’s a solid 5+ meters and that’s generous to the umpires, to the right of where he’s meant to be kicking from. not to mention the fact that this allows him extra running in space to make it a closer kick. i’ve never seen more blatant cheating from a set of umpires than on that sunday.
Richmond were thoroughly out classed and had dodgy the decisions go towards them on the day yet their dirty fans still find a way to complain. Sure the umpiring wasn't great, but considering richmond only won 3 flags because of umpiring you'd think their "fans" wouldn't label every mistake as "blatant cheating"... embarrassing bunch.
@@chadchadderton idk if my other comment got deleted or what but since 2017 we’ve had the lowest free kick differential of any other team. and don’t fall back on the stupid narrative “it’s because you guys got arrogant and undisciplined because of the success” bc the players that people call undisciplined these days didn’t play back then… in 2017 we had the worst and we were one of 2 teams to have less than 90 free kicks for per every 100 free kicks against. in 2018 we had the worst. with a 77.53:100 ratio frees for:against… its only been in the 70’s 10 times since 65… and the last time it happened before 2018 was 2003, then 1994… we were 6th lowest in 2019, 2nd lowest in 2020, lowest in 2021, lowest in 2022, lowest in 2023. since 2017 we’ve had 526 more frees against than for… that’s over 3 free kicks against more than for every game for 166 games straight… wish i had the 50’s stats cos they’d be even worse.
@@samysull333 Richmond wouldn't have won 3 flags without the help from the umpires... the fact that you were undisciplined doesn't cancel out the fact that the umpires looked after you lot. You should have had more free kicks go against you than what you did if it wasn't for preferential treatment from the umpires. Trent Cotchin and Tom Lynch are regarded as two of the dirtiest players to have played in the modern era, the fact that they got away with so much was and still is and indictment on the sport. Free kick counts and more so free kick differentials are never representative of if the umpiring was good or bad. People who mention free kick counts/differentials just don't understand how the sport works... free kick counts/differentials aren't required to be even nor do they show if a call was correct/incorrect and it doesn't show missed calls on either side. Richmond got heavily favourable umpiring which coincided with their success which ultimately brought a lot of "fans" to the club, the same "fans" who now either don't support Richmond cause they're junk or they cry "blatant cheating" every time they aren't handed a win by the umpires. I'll reiterate, they're a embarrassing bunch of "fans".
The fact he can’t get that instinctive move out of his system means it’s pretty heavily entrained in his muscle memory. I shudder to think how many years he’s been doing that before being pulled up on it. True grub.

Nice
My favourite oddity was the fact jezza didn’t get the holding the ball call when the streaker was on the field

spot on

You missed jeremy cameron calling holding the ball when the streaker was tackled by the security guys

do you blame them for being extra careful at adelaide’s first game back where they got ROBBED last year of finals lmao.

In the freo game, at the center bounce Jackson was held out of it. Jackson breaks free and runs onto the ball and a free kick is called against him.
He got X high. Or so the umpire thought.
@@billbaggins1688 I'd call it an oddity
Very humorous. Good job.
Jackson gets extra points for driving his knee into the back of debutant Draper's head. thats your team mate dogga!

Oddest thing of the round is Pedlar wasn’t dropped from Crows side. Shockingly out of form.
