How nice to watch lovely Prince Edward narrate this interesting documentary. To be kept and watched over and over again
The last years, of both their lives, was quite sad and dark. People want to blame Wallis for all that happened, but I am not one of those people. Edward didn't want to be king. Everything that happened, happened as it should have. Great Britain gained a man who made for a better king. Events happen for a reason.

IMHO, he was the one to blame.
He was the one with responsibilities; she had none, unless to her existing husband.
He abdicated his throne, his duties, his responsibilities.
History itself should have taught him that abdication is unforgiveable within the Divine Right of Kings.
He said many times he did not wish to be king. As was the similar situation with the last Czar of Russia, weeping as he told his mama and what happened to the last Russian royal family. Às for Edward it was a blessing in disguise for the country.

This is an excellent program. Its older than some and has a few glitches such as mirror captions but its layered with history and fantastic photos and videos. I liked the interviews with old friends. Wallis' clothing was incredible and she certainly oozed style. I cannot say I'm fond of either of the charaters of the Duke and Duchess's rampant narcissm and overblown egos. They remind me of 2 shallow indulged characters from an F. Scott Fitzgerald novel.
It looks like someone took Ardent's documentary "Edward on Edward" and re-edited it to avoid copyright infringement.
Yes, it's a shame it's almost unwatchable now.

🇬🇧 My Great Aunt was cook to Wallis Simpson when she stayed at the Beach House, Felixstowe awaiting her divorce. Also, my birth Mother's second husband, Gordon Rogers ,( of the Rogers Brothers Felixstowe ) , bought Harvest House hotel where Wallis and Edward 8th spent some time.
The one thing I can say is that Wallis had more class than the Megan could ever hope for...
My heart breaks for Duke Edward and Wallis whose was caught in the middle of it all.

56:10 Heartbreaking. He gave up so much & so much was taken away from him. He spent so many years grieving what might have been but he never regretted the decision because he was so in love w/ Wallis. I hope he found peace in the hereafter. ♥

I just watched Wallis/Edward's documentary & this is not it! He was obsessed with Wallis & gave up the thrown for her. This has nothing to do with Harry & Meghan!
Interesting and extremely well told story, except for the number of jump shots which were distracting. Perhaps Prince Edward should have a contract from SPOTIFY or NETFLIX.
An interesting documentary - pity about the poor quality. What is hardly ever mentioned when talking about the Duke of Windsor and his Duchess is how little she loved him or had any regard for him. I believe it is true that he idolised her - even worshipped her - but she, I think, rather despised him and her nickname for him was 'mosquito' as he was always buzzing around her. Letter's from her to her second husband still able to be read today and written just before and after her divorce from him prove she was still in love with him and NOT with Edward. After the divorce and Edward's abdication she had little choice but to marry him and spend the rest of her life with a man she did not want to be with.

It seems like there's an issue with this video - it appears to be possessed! The images are upside down, and Prince Edward keeps appearing on the left and then on the right. The people interviewed have the sound of their voices, but they remain static and look like moths. Watching it is so difficult.

What is with the picture flipping forward and backward? Super annoying makes it irritating to watch.
Fascinating content but editing is terrible! Audio is too fast and doesn't correspond with mouth movements. Initial presentations of written material are mirrored, i.e. reversed.
It's most probably due to the copyright reasons.

This isn't Prince Harry presenting so King Charles isn't his father. This is Prince Edward, nephew of the King.
The public will never know if the Duke of Windsor abdicated for the love of an unacceptable divorcee or if he was actually forced out and why and Wallis was the excuse. Regardless it’s a fascinating story as are the circumstances surrounding the Marburgh papers.

I think Edwards V111's breathtaking arrogance and naivety is quite staggering. As someone else here has already said, I think the British public got a better King in George V1. Every time I listen to details of Edward V111, he sounds like a very spoilt man-child. Ihad to laugh when he told that lady "youve no idea what i gave up to marry Wallace". Mmmm, a lot of pomp etc but he didnt exactly live in poverty! "Poor me" is all i can hear tbh.
