Smoking impairs micro vascular blood supply by causing vasoconstriction.. nicotine is the main reason for this . It affects both bone and wound healing.

Hello i have small crack on my arm join years ago and the doctor said its OK you won't needed plaster after years it has begun to hurt now I can do normal chores from that hand and it usually get swollen or pain after doing some movements. When I lift my hand it i feel burden .

Hi , generally on average it will take 3 - 6 months for radiological union, it depends on the type of fracture and treatment given. Completely reduced fracture with proper immobilisation is important.✌️

If your not taking rest with non weight bearing and not using pop slab or a cast for 1 month ,then the pain might be there for a month. Follow up with your doctor.

Time duration depends on the level of injury and initial symptoms, only the treating doctor can comment on it. If she is bed ridden, then do proper bed care to prevent bed sore and passive motion of joints.

Sir I got 5th metatarsal fracture a month ago and been on cast since then but due to no pain I started walking and giving weight on my foot after 1 week only with my cast. Yesterday I got a X-ray done which showed no healing , what should I do , for how many more days will I have to keep this cast
Atleast 4 to 6 weeks of immobilisation is required for fracture healing, follow up with your doctor and continue immobilisation.

Hi Sir, I have fractures for my left hand (Third Humerus Distal Fracture) - Multiple fractures from shoulder to Elbow. It's been 7 months and still only one fracture got healed and another still yet to heal. Doctor is saying to if that doesn't heal in two months they will perform bone grafting surgery.
Please suggest me what I can do in these 2-3 months so that I can miss that surgery.
Hi ,For fracture nonunion, bone gratis the best option. Other methods have reduced chances of union.

If the fracture us displaced,then better to plan for operative intervention. It will take upto 2-3 months for union in upper limb fractures. If not properly reduced, then that knuckle alone will become shorted while making a fist .

Hi , if it's 4 weeks after fracture, then no need for plaster . Sorry i didn't see the message properly. U can start doing your activities, avoid lifting heavy objects with the right hand and avoid putting pressure on the affected hand while getting up.

Avulsion fracture is more prone for non union , better to fix it. Consult a local orthopaedician.

Definitely no issues, it has good fibre content, helps in good digestion also . Avoid taking as juices.
What about a impacted fracture in distal proximal phalanx in toe , it shows it healed on x ray but still not fully remodeled how long will it take it’s been 4 months
Generally it takes 3-6 months for the union at lower limbs fractures. But remodeling takes years. Since phalynx have nothing to do with weight bearing, don't worry about it , continue to bear weight.

No need to stop activity, phalynx is not required for weight bearing. Theoretically it takes years , but the bone will have adequate strength for doing activities after fracture union by 6 months

Namastey, fractures pain has nothing to do with foods. Some foods Amy cause abdominal discomfort,but that is not related to the pain caused due to injuries. If u like them, u can have even after the fracture. In our college hospital they provide rice with brinjal curry fr patients.
@@medi360 Thanks Doctor, I have one question that why some nurses brutally clean the injuries. My accident happened in last four days. They cleaned my injuries mercilessly, i complained to doctor then they stop doing so.
If u having plaster and kept on limb elevation on stand ,then sleep in supine position or right lateral position with a pillow between chest and left shoulder to provide elevation. If u r pain free and comfortable on sleep on side then u can use that position also.
Actually I can't comment on the incident without seeing it , sometimes if there is any contamination,then we need to remove them with thorough wash with normal saline , betadine ,etc. Then only the chance of infection can be prevented.
What can help speed heal a fracture???
Rate of fracture healing is multifactorial , young age , simple fracture, type of bone involved and closed reduction helps in early bone healing. Proper immobilisation and healthy diet supplements the healing. Adequate protein rich foods ,with Nutrients like calcium, vitamin D , vitamin C , Iron , Vitamin B complex are also to be taken.

Hi , avoid sporting activities for 3- 4 months. Need to do knee strengthening exercises , static quadriceps, active SLR and ankle pumps exercises. Consult a local physiotherapist for rehabilitation.
