Superb, Euge! Just fantastic playing, explaining, and detailing the process. It is always great to watch you explaining your mixing techniques and showing us - I've re-watched this many times!
AAWESOME Brother! How would you recommend getting the biggest cut through delay micro pitched guitar solo in a mix? The Delay 3000 plugin plan both sides with dry in tge middle like you showed or could we do this with dual H910 or H3000 plugins? GOD Bless and thank you for your inspiration! Rob Ransom Appleton,WI
Another amazing masterclass. When I first picked up a guitar, we struggled to do the most basic stuff. Affordable gear sounded like crap. Today... it's a whole new world. The technology has sure changed, but the "songwriting" really hasn't. Because "music" hasn't changed. Music is still music.
Thanks, Euge. In run an ancient setup using Garage Band and a POD XT. Regardless, your advice was useful and much appreciated. I can't record on two input tracks simultaneously, so I simply copy-pasted my mono track into an empty track, then panned them R and L... Then I nudged and slipped one of the two tracks by a small amount so they don't line up, but don't sound too out of synch either... (More dimension, already). Next, I applied a. pitch shifter on one of the tracks and set it at only 4 cents and a 50/50 wet/dry. The soundscape became more lush and rich. A pleasure to the ears! Thanks again, brother! My Dio cover of Hey Angel will soon sound fuller!
Hi thanks again for this cool video. I was wondering from Eventide, would the plugin H910 also get similar results? Or in other words why H949 better? I believe the H910 cannot do stereo? Cheers ;-)
So the guitar signal goes into 3 mono (L & R & Center) channels (Boss SD1 & Marshall), which you route to a stereo channel with delay, chorus, harmonizer, reverb as a send. I'm using Cubase too, a template maybe? :)
Another fantastic video! How do you decide if you go stereo or mono? You already said panned mono sounds more interesting to you - but are there other considerations?
Thanks! If I’m mixing something I didn’t record myself then the WAV file dictates that but when I’m recording it’s always mono and then I just route them to stereo busses. Like in this video 😎. When I’m just noodling and doing these TH-cam videos then the track is usually stereo so it’s easy to just add stereo room reverb etc. cos it’s just one guitar so I don’t need any busses which I use a lot when mixing. I’m pretty much hard L / hard R guy when it comes to guitars. That leaves room for everything else ’cos guitars rule the sides on mid & hi frequencies 🤟😎.
@@EugeValovirta230V Thanks a lot Euge! Your channel has quickly become one of my main sources regarding awesome guitar tone. I just bought a EVH 100watt stealth - if you can check it out, it is insane!
Hi thanks a lot for this great Demo; -) do I understand correctly that the marshall Plug-in is on a Stereo Audio Track? I actually use the UAD apollo and put the marshall Plug-in on a mono Track and via aux sends I can get reverb and the Dimension d Plug-in. Is the widening effect larger when you use the marshall Plug-in on a Stereo Audio Track than opposed to using a mono audio Track? Cheers ;-)
Thanks! Yeah stereo is wider than mono track. That’s why I use stereo busses / groups with mono tracks when mixing to make things bigger, wider & bolder 😎.

@@EugeValovirta230V Hi again. Sorry I meant of course Softube amp plugin. When tracking this demo you tracked the guitar part on a mono track? Then first later when mixing you add the stereo busses? Thanks again for your time ;-) Cheers, Henrik
Ok bro tech question. I cant see how your mono guitar tracks are routed, i see that your sending bus signals from guitar channels to dedicated buses with specific fx, which is normal. What i dont see is if your guitar mono track outputs are going to the main out stereo channel strip or to a dedicated stereo bus then from the bus to the final out channel strip, can you explain if so cause i can only do this in pro tools not logic.
The mono tracks go to the dedicated stereo busses. Rhythm gtrs to rhythm gtr bus, lead guitars to lead guitar bus etc. Same with drums, keys, vocals etc. And all busses go to the mix bus and from the mix bus to stereo out which is in Cubase’s Control Room and on stereo out’s insert I have Sonarworks Sound ID Reference plugin with a calibration profile of my monitors & room and a profile of my headphones. So I can have the calibration always on but it’s not printed when I bounce tracks or mix out from Cubase 👌.
@@EugeValovirta230V ok so mono Chanels out go directly to bus then from bus to master, (sends to f/x bus) as well. The reason i asked is because i had my head wrapped in the idea of a parallel channel lol, like your set up plus a duplicated grouped guitar bus (example rhythm) to boost signal, compress or pan a stereo mix combining Différent amps.. You know the live line in monitor in logic/pro tools/cubase allows you to use multiple channel strips with amps at once like a wall of Marshalls, this guy i know records like this, line in 4 channels live, each channel different amps/cabs etc.
Tape is more dirtier, darker and can be quite random. Like original tape delay machines which had lots of flutter etc. Character so to say. Digital is the opposite. Which is really cool also 👌.
It’s been Cubase quite long. Many songwriters I work with (including our vocalist) uses Cubase so I made the switch to make many things easier. Too many to mention 😎. I used Logic for a short time after ProTools and to me Cubase is just the most logical 👌. And the drum editing software is just fantastic among many other things.
