- We went kayaking at E. G. Simmons Park in Ruskin Florida! This beautiful nature park offers camping, kayaking and their very own beach along Tampa Bay! This was my first time ever kayaking and I was terrified! I have a fear of the ocean and rivers especially when I cannot see what is below me or near me so this was a very....interesting...experience.

Fear is OK, and even though I'm here after your adventure of bravery, I give you credit. In my younger days I was an advanced deep sea rescue diver, still I would have been hesitant knowing the Florida waters. Don't think you are heavy enough to sink in a Kayak. Your love of Coda is wonderful. She is a good guide.
Great job facing your fears! I did some Kayaking in key west, and fell out the boat in the open ocean so I faced my fears the hard way lol!!

My favorite thing about kayaking is that you get to see what most people don't, most roads don't follow most waterways....and the private beaches that are available talk about real relaxing 😎

I went kayaking a few years ago in St.Pete. There were gators in the water but they stayed away. Every now and then we saw them pop up.

I'm so glad you faced your fears and had an amazing time!! I've been doing a little bit of kayaking and paddle boarding. It's so calming and peaceful out there on the water. I've been pricing the kayaks around here in Myrtle Beach, S.C. They are a little on the expensive side, but I've got it narrowed down to the one at Dicks Sporting Goods and Bass Pro Shops. I think I'm leaning towards the one at Bass Pro. I'm just waiting for the sales at the end of the season, right now I'm borrowing one that a friend of mine has. I hope you keep kayaking, once you get used to it, it's so calming, it's how I get to my zen spot!! I'll let you know which one I get as soon as I can. I’ve only been Kayak once... I had no control it had a mind of its own. We Kayak in Chicago river followed by fireworks and food trucks. (Per Pandemic)

I’m a native to Florida ....I’ve never been kayaking. Just never thought about it. I don’t like Florida in general, I’m fair skin and HATE the heat so Im not one to say it’s gorgeous here 🤣 I’m more of a Colorado/Tennessee/North Carolina person. Love mountains and changes of seasons. My family and in laws live here and my kids are elementary age so kinda stuck here until my kids are older 😩 glad you had fun though and enjoyed it so now you can say you did it👍🏻
You should post a video of the kayak buying experience if you can. I’d be interested in seeing that and what you end up choosing.

I was born and raised in Florida. I grew up swimming, boating, etc. As a kid you don't think about dangerous animals in the water but as an adult yes its scary not knowing what's in the water...

I went canoeing with friends once in Myakka River state park, near Sarasota.
I am with you on the open & deep water fear. Even worse when I can't see the bottom .

Awe I have never been kayaking. Been a long time since I was at EG Simmons. Usually go to Hillsborough River. Looks relaxing.
You done brilliantly. I wouldn’t be able to do that. I’m scared of deep water and only can swim in a pool. I need to try to get over it.
Your whistle comments were funny...better than tentacle anime. Why live in Florida if you don't go outdoors? Might as well live in a box in any city. Gators do go into saltwater. We get a few on Tybee Beach (Savannah) every year. Now there are crocodiles in Florida which live in in both salt and fresh water that you should be afraid of :)
Looks like a nice peaceful day. Be safe out there. My wife just got sick up here in Illinois, so maybe it's not worth going to the parks yet. If you do go, stay on mask patrol & be safe. 😷 . Also I would be terrified of gators 🐊. Lol she ls so relaxed & chill on that kayak.

If you wanna see manatees there was a place in Tampa my friend took me too back in February. They have hundreds of manatees keeping warm in the water...
