    So what is the BEST FLUKE TREATMENT for my pond??🤔 I test 3 well known products in my pond to see which one is the most effective while the parasite 'Fluke' has been so stubbon and seems to be affecting so many other ponds across the country?😞😞
    Also needed to take one of the fish out to provide a scrape to double check the fluke are still at Large...

    A walk on the wild side of death that was me tonight painting the decking on the pond and suddenly a strange noise could not place it then a big bang and black smoke passing in front of me all the garden lights went off and everything in the pond stopped I could now smell burning lifting the wooden cover on my filters bay and electrics I could see the power supply to the UVC had melted and gone up with a bang although the RCD had tripped the power supply was still smouldering and was so hot taking over 90 minutes to cool enough to touch.

    It will be interesting to see how the Lernex Pro treatment goes as it’s almost the same as Fluke (M).
    Fluke treatment or any other treatments on the market most have Flubendazole in and often just a small percentage I have never thought of this as an effected treatment I always look for anything which contains Praziquantel which seems very effective in ponds.
    Such as fluke solve, fluke (P) and (S).
    Also it’s an idea not to get misled by ingredients that say Flubenol this is another name for Flubendazole.
    I still like the Trident approach Fluke P in for a few days then Malichite and Formalin put into the pond I have always found it effective.

    Need some help. what would be the best treatment for FLUKE as i have a pond that has a mixed fish species . Mirror carp Koi Tench and Rudd. and one or two Goldfish i had purchase Potassium Permangante but reading up on it says harmful to Tench and Rudd. Could you please suggest any alternative? have 4 fish that this is happening to now.

    • @KoiPondLifestyle
      @KoiPondLifestyle  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hiya, I have Koi, old fish and Tench in my pond and have used PP, all Fluke treatments and FMG and had no issues with my fish. However I don't have any Rudd so cant comment on how that fish would react to the treatments I have used in the past. I found Lernex Pro sorted my Fluke out but it seems different ponds react differently to different each treatment. Sorry I don't have a solid answer for you there...🤔

    • @Tradeanator
      @Tradeanator 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      O.K i did full test on my water all levels are ok nitrate little over than i would like but acceptable. so getting something for that. They advised just using the PP as a dip for the fish not using in the whole pond as this will disrupt the pond balance and bacteria. So they advised salting the pound so i will do that and dip the fish in PP but need to work out the measurement for that. they said i need to get a vet to look at the fish and test for FLUKE.

    Where do flukes come from ?

    • @KoiPondLifestyle
      @KoiPondLifestyle  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hiya. Fluke can get into the pond a number of ways. New fish can bring them into a pond. Birds are known to carry them and drop them into the pond through their waste or while drinking from the pond? I hear that if you scrape a slug, Fluke are usually found on them, so if they end up in your pond they drop off when the slug dies. They also sit dormant on the fish in winter when the temps are low, so catch the fish out when they become active as they temps rise and the fish in vulnerable coming out of winter (unless the pond is heated)? Hope this helps..😉👍

    I got my gold fishes only 2 months ago. My pond was built for my turtle Joy. I used lifeguard tetra when i notice the red spots in the scales. It says will treat most fishes diseases. I placed my fishes in a small tank 40 gallon for treatment. Every 24h 4 pills. Basically it has bactericide, fungicide and dewormer similar to the one used for humans round worm. First day water was cloudy but didn't affect fishes. Second day you see the small filaments partially out of skin. At this point they were dead i guess. I continued treatment for the 5 days in instructions. Meanwhile i made a partial water change in the pond and added aquarium salt to the water to kill any harmful parasites in my pond. I cleaned algae too. I have normal pond filter and uv filter. Than i placed fishes back. It was weeks ago and no recurrent problem.

    I've have been battling resistant skin flukes since mid April. I have tried lernex pro twice and normal lenex once. Have used fluke solve plus and standard fluke solve. Tried fluke m and 100 % prazi. As a last resort tried two doses of supaverm which I thought had worked but no they were still evident on scrapes. I tried with bakki showers isolated and pond filters just turning over but no joy. I read a thread on the koi forum uk which was titled simply had enough of flukes and he finally eradicated them using levamisole. So I bought some from Duncans chemical factory and ran in my pond for 4 hours then ran a double dose of fluke S . Scraped next day and no more flukes and have been clear since. I am by no means recommending this but when all else fails we have to keep trying.I suggest if any one is having problems then the koi forum uk is a great place for advice.

My fish seem to have perked up no end, not saying this is the holy grail but it appears to be benefitin my fish. Just add a few drops of orange juice to it & leave overnight for the pellets to absorb the powder. Koi love it.

I like many others visit FB groups and watch channels like yours hoping to find some answers to sometimes very frustrating problems. I told her about the black stuff and all the treatments you have used on the pond for fluke.
    She said If this treatment does not work try Garlic I asked her again and she said yes garlic.
    In Australia they use a liquid garlic in ponds to kill parasites they also feed fish with a garlic food which protects the skin of the fish she said you can use normal garlic in hot water then when cold mix with some food and drop into pond.
    The only other thing she said to try would be to drain the pond and then jet wash pond walls flush away.
    Then block pond pipe at filter end brush pond walls with pond disinfectant containing Chloramine also fill sump and pipe do not flush.
    Soak filter system with water and disinfectant.
    Leave 2 hours and then open everything up wash pond walls and flush all down the drain.

    I think you under dosed, there should of been a blue measuring cup/spoon thing which you didn’t have as the instructions say it in ml not grams which would give a different reading, I think I used half the bottle of product on a 10k pond. Might be worth checking it. As your pond didn’t seem very cloudy either. There is some instructions for use at different temps as well but I can’t post the picture of it

    It seems that this season many of you in the UK are suffering from Flukes. When I was there I also experienced a number of other problems. What I would like to suggest is that instead of using drugs and microscopes as a coping strategies, we need to build up our strength and immunity so that we are less susceptible to flukes. I have always thought that it would be more progressive to focus on this.

    • @KoiPondLifestyle
      @KoiPondLifestyle  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi, Thanks for that. The thing with the UK is many ponds aren't heated so as the fish come out of winter, weak and vunerable, the parasites take hold and get a head start on the rest of the pond before the fish can fully recover from winter. If you have any ideas how we can build the immunity and strength with winter in mind, I'm all ears as the current Fluke epademic is proving to be a nightmare.. Cheers.🤔👍

    • @atsuminaoki9910
      @atsuminaoki9910 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@KoiPondLifestyle It is not efficient to spend more on fuel in winter and it is not desirable in the long term for KOI to lose its seasonal character. (With the exception of TOSAI and up to 2SAI KOI.) I always think that the summer water temperature and the accumulation of nutrients and the strengthening of the immune system should be more important.

    What are your thoughts on building the lighting into the brick work as a pond is in the building process?? Could I make it work?

    • @KoiPondLifestyle
      @KoiPondLifestyle  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hiya, You sure could make it work. There are some great lights out there for under water use. I used to have a pond with the lighting installed in the pond itself like a swimming pool. The issues I found were the algae growth will continually grow over the light lense so will need constant cleaning. The lighting unit itself usually has rubber seals that once start to perish will need replacing so if your lights are near the bottom you'll need to drain the water off to get to them. As with changing bulbs, which nowadays is better due to LED lights that last forever.. I personally have avoided lights in the pond and opted for down lighting thats easy access and if your having a wooden structure over the pond could work well. Short term they are great but long term can be a pain to look after.. Hope this helps.. 😉👍
