Oh u don't know about farida khanum very strange u like ghazals but u don't know the actual ghazal singers ... it's just like u hv roses but u can't smell the essence of its fregnance ...
farida khannum ji came to our university LUMS yesterday after a long time with Ali Sethi and the auditorium was jam packed unfortunately i couldn't see her.
She was there for a concert? I heared she don sing now.

True history of this song. Originally sung by Habib Wali Mohammad for a Pakistani film Badal aur Bijli in 1973. Poet was Fayyaz Hashmi. It was composed by the music maestro Sohail Rana. Later on, Farida Khanum, one of the leading classical and ghazal singers of the sub-continent made it popular by her phenomenal rendition of the song.

Originally it was a movie song and sung by Habib Wali Muhammad later it was also performed by great Farida Khanam ji who was born and brought up in Kolkata.
