Sorry I am 11 years late on this comment but he missed a ton of benefits of heroic strike: You white swing that you replace could have been a glancing blow (25% of the time i think in wrath? for 85% damage maybe? not really sure). Heroic strike cannot glance. your white swing crits do not benefit from impale (20% bonus to crit damage on abilities). your white swings chance to miss will be much higher than the 1% chance to miss on your heroic strike (assuming your hit capped). Now I am unsure of this one, but in classic wow when you have a heroic strike qued when your offhand attacks it will hit 99% of the time (assuming your soft hit capped). Essentially the hit table for your offhand attack THINKS it is a yellow attack (although it can glance) Combine all of that and heroic strike is FAR more than just a bonus 495 damage. Higher chance to hit, more offhand hits (maybe), no chance to glance and harder crits. People always undersell heroic strike!
Thegreatme. This is very good video towards fury dps, and rotation. Most of this I already know but I can definitely see how this would be useful to new warrior players. I especially appreciate the information about the heroic strike, specifically concerning rage (which, I'll admit, I didn't know.) I think this is a very helpful video. Again, good quality. Keep up the awesome vids! BB
Shattering throw is a very good tool to help out your raid. Shattering throw removes 20% armor form the target and it stacks with sunder armor so you should use it when you have blood-lust/heroism if you don't have a arms warrior in the raid you should have a macro to cast shattering throw as shown in the video.
for those wondering about his ui and addons, under related videos there is a link Guide to Thegreatme's UI. or just search for it. its mostly all in there
awesome fury tutorial tbh... I know gear in the latest patch might allow for more Heroic Strike spamming (and maybe negate stance dancing) but for newbie fury warriors this is fantastically explained
You do realize that heroic strike replaces a white attack with a yellow attack; meaning it cannot be a glancing blow and is subject to different cap requirements. Also, it is important for people watching this video to take note that these examples are without raid buffs or debuffs. When in a raid atmosphere (varying by encounter, of course) you will have more rage to use for heroic strike and/or cleave.
wow this video is very helpful to warriors, i am not a warrior, i am a shaman, but i understood everything you said. you explain yourself very well. thanks
the shattering throw is a great skill to use when blood lust or heroism (I think that is Ally side BL) because of the armor reduction value. Cooldowns are blown during these (at least mine are during BL) so a very large amount of damage is ouput during a shattering throw.
You can avoid having to jump to cancel a non proc slam by using a /stopcasting macro with your slam ability. Using it like this will disallow slam going off as a normal cast and will only allow it to go off if its instant with no cast time
Like he said, you use cleave just like you would use heroic strike; use cleave for multiple enemies and heroic strike for single enemies. Also, you're not losing TOO much dps if you switch to battle when your main attacks are on cooldown, your auto-attacks continue.
Just a tip: if Bloodsurge doesn't proc, you dont have to jump. Just use this macro: #Showtooltip Slam(Rank 8) /stopcasting /cast Slam(Rank 8) /stopcasting This macro will only cast Slam if it is instant (so Bloddsurge procced)
Nice guide, you did neglect to mention 2 things about Heroic Strike though. 1) Heroic Strike has a chance to give a bloodsurge proc (so an instant slam) increasing the dps it gives you. (this ofc costs rage aswell, but at least its better than another heroic strike, because now you do get mainhand white damage --> rage). 2) Heroic Strike is yellow damage, so you have less (or none if your stats are correct) chance to miss it. Not saying spamming HS is good, its still not worth it =)
something about heroic strike that very often isnt said. It is right what u say that because next swing isnt generating rage HS cost goes up to ~40 but u cant say u pay 40 rage for 500 extra dmg because HS is an YELLOW attack while auto-attack is white so with hit cap u will never miss with HS while u can still miss with auto-attack. so, imo using HS gives a lot of dmg overall
He has a further guide on his channel, but it says, the hierarchy is iff you get around 30% ArP from just your gear, then stack ArP but iff you have less then 30% stack str
@ESPmaniacz It slows you down, however there are generally another 17 raid members who have also been tasked with dealing damage. Any class that deals physical damage will see a dps increase while your shattering throw is up. The loss of about 2 global cooldowns and a 1.5 second cast will more than be made up for, both by you and by other physical damage dealers in the raid.
@czc2844 cause armor pen is capped at 16000 armor. for example. a target has 20k armor, u have 100% arp. ur target will have 4k ish armor still. so still do sunders+shattering throw even if u have 100% arp
Fury will out dps arms on higher ilevel and arms will out dps fury on lower ilevel. Thats known fact, check dps logs from top guilds and so on and Shattering throw is quite good and rather good if you use it on same time with bloodlust.
Thanks for these videos. I just made my first warrior and was looking for some good information on rotations and situational skill use. These videos helped a lot. :3
Very detailed. I play a warrior on Nordrassil in protection spec and was thinking of going for a dps spec (im71 atm); i was undecided whether i should go for arms spec for controlled crits or go wild on fury for more crit chance and more AP. Thx, this was rly helpful!
@MGStefanou if you do not have a bloodsurge proc for an instant slam, and have suffient rage, then you should use one of those abilities to rage dump. you can also use both slam and this if you have sufficient rage before u go back to bloodthirst
the value of HS doesn't just lie in rage management... HS turns an otherwise autoattack melee white dmg swing into a yellow hit... eliminating the possibility of a glancing hit, and drastically reduces the hit required not to miss...
meaning that because his heroic strike is buffed through the glyph, and more importantly, through his gear, he deals more damage using heroic strike, therefore making heroic strike a more viable skill to use rage on
I used both Bartender AND Pitbull and couldn't figure out how he had that clean presentation of rage and health around his CHARACTER, not portrait, along with the clean combat text scrolling perfectly around it. If anyone could help me figure what he's using REALLY and how to set it up that would great! Thanks!
@FOATE If you're lucky enough to own an Armour Penetration proc trinket (Grim Toll, Mjolnir Runestone, or the Needle Scarab) it's better to gem ArP UNTIL YOU REACH 100% WITH THE PROC, this is probably why they gem for ArP as fury if you don't own one of those trinkets, strength is the way to go
I was just wondering about a couple of the addons you have, one I want to know about is the one that tells you when certain things are up, (blood surge, overpower, ect.) and what addon your using to make all the cast bars look nice
@Lingura123 Don't. Stay protection until you hit 80. Reason for this is that you should be getting instant dungeon invitations as protection and you'd be waiting
To Thegreatme, I noticed that you didn't go over gear and/or stat priority in your video, which could have been included in the section where you mentioned gemming for hit and expertise cap. If stat rewards is any indicator, I believe you basically gem for str after these caps are reached. @ arms warrior comments, people often mistake arms dps as spamming because there are 3 abilitys to keep on cd in your priority list, and some warriors used to /castrandom macro this to save effort pre nerf.
Great guide. Could you please reply to this with the addons that you use to mod your UI to look like that? I think those will help if I knew what they were.
Hello great video, I know its all about rage; can we use a macro for rotation? (WW, Bloodthirst, Slam, WW) If yes, how would the macro look like? Thanks again for the great video.
Thanks for this! I have an 80 troll fury and my dps has been crap, I think this will help a lot. I was using whirlwind --> bloodthirst --> cleave --> slam (not instant). Man! I was wayy off!
you use shattering throw for the 25 percent armor debuf it puts on the target not only will this make you hit harder but it helps the other melee dps hit harder as well.
Neither of those are really part of a rotation. Heroic throw is good to throw in when you have nothing else available. I think shattering throw is a bit of a personal dps loss, but the raid as a whole greatly benefits from it, especially if timed correctly. The raid dps increase for the duration of shattering throw easily outweighs the damage you lost.
@Ichigo1stprize If you use whirlwind, then bloodthirst, you have to wait longer before whirlwind is off cd, its only a few more seconds, also, this is purely for high end raiding, which you wouldn't need the healing of bloodthirst as much as you would when questing, in an ideal situation that is =P plus if bloodthirst procs instant slam, by the time you hit whirlwind and then slam, with the two 1 second global cooldowns, you mite not hit slam quick enough
So lets say Bloodsurge procs on the last bloodthirst of the rotation, do we let that proc go to waste and stick with the rotation, or do we sacrifice the next in line for that instant slam? I guess what I'm trying to say is, what ability is valued the most out of the rotation? Whirlwind, Bloodthrist, instant slam?
that is a HUD (heads up display) around his character. I use IceHUD. It wouldn't surprise me if that is also IceHUD, because im pretty sure I could make mine look just like that. The text scrolling perfectly around it looks like MikScrollingBattleText although i don't use it currently.
Oh by the way, what are you're thoughts about gemming for ArP, especially since the slight nerf it has taken? Currently, I use strength and strength + stam (I'm already at 35% crit with a trinket.) I do not have a great ArP trinket. I do have the incisor fragment but it appears to only give a small boost to ArP. What would you suggest as far as gemming? Thanks for the info. BB
An altenative to the jump, to interrupt slam, u can also make a macro like this: /cast Slam /stopcast Slam The effect of this macro should be self-given :)
like the other guides is there a reason why you don not put up a stats priorty list ? becasue its kinda important to have that as well when your trying to gear your warrior
@Darkoverlord101 Yes I'm very sure about rage is not a problem in endgame gear. Especially if your raid buffs are all around good, you'll most likely stay at 60 rage plus at all time :)
You gave heroic strike a bit of a miss: When last i checked heroic strike crits with impale hit for a LOT with the 2.2x damage modifier... 2k main hand white crits do close to 5300 damage when heroic strike crits...
thanks alot for the tips man, I will totally try to get used to Shattering throw :) But, say I'm in a daily random HC or something, and all the other DPS (who only is 2 then) are casters, should I skip it then? On casual mobs. thx
@ROGAL8 Only stack sunder armor if you have a different tank than a warrior, dont use it on anything other than raid bosses, if there isnt any other armor migration tank. And even if thats so, you should only be doing it if the raid is a progress raid.. Thats just my oppinion
I play a fury warrior in my off spec, I have Heroic Strike in my rotation. The method I use is Bloodthirst, Heroic Strike, Whirlwind, Heroic Strike, Bloodthirst, Slam, and repeat. Reason why I do Heroic Strike somewhat often is to help get the instant Slam effect. It triples my chances in other words rather than from 2 abilities. Do you have any thoughts or suggestions to this rotation?
oh trust me, that's a very small "Look". While we are the most versitile calss in game (aside from minimal range abilites), if you don't take time to learn it, don't obther rolling.
My maths isn't correct i suppose.... 1k main hand hit, 2k main hand crit... 1495 main hand HS, = 2.2 x 1495 (impale giefs 20% bonus crit, and heroic strike bonus damage has and always will be doubled on a crit) So you're eft at like 3300 heroic strike crit or something like that, an increase of 1300 damage on a basic MH crit, as impale DOES NOT affect non-special attacks.
he seys do not use hit rating or expertise gems and ofc you use strength... Your talents and armor alone should cap you for both hit and expertise he does mention it
@MLGxLosko This information of sunder armor effect giving direct ArP is incorrect. Let's say, the boss have 10.000 armor, after 5 stacks of sunder armor is aplied the boss has: 8000 armor. Here comes the ArP, if you have 50% ArP from gear/gems, the boss now has 4000 armor. And if the stacks is not aplied it has 5000 armor. So, the cap of ArP is not 80%, it's 100% (1400). After you reach 100% ArP, you will not benefit from sunder armor or fearie fire anymore, though, aplying sunderarmor=win
you can do a macro so that if you dont have instant slam then it wont cast, it interupt itself within just a mili second i think. i dont know the exact macro but it will help alot! cause every second that the slam is loading you lose auto swing
This is on a target dummy. With appropriate raid buffs and moderate incoming damage, he will be HS'ing on every MH white swing. Like the man said, rage management is the cornerstone of Fury Warrior DPS. HS is a dump. He is slightly wrong, though. HS can't be glancing whereas a white hit can glance. The DPS gain isn't significant until you hit something that you will glance.
Sorry I am 11 years late on this comment but he missed a ton of benefits of heroic strike:

Depends on raid make up. If you have an arms warrior, you won't have to worry. If you don't then you can use it or not.
if you guys are wondering about his UI he has his own channel and in it theres a video that explains everything. Channel name- TGMofLoS
As for 3.3.3, in end game gear.
The rage from your offhand is so significant, that you can spam Heroic Strike without beeing close to rage starve. :)
the warrior class is easy to learn but one of the hardest class to really master
Nice guide, you did neglect to mention 2 things about Heroic Strike though.

Im wondering what is all your addons called? I LOVE the way you have them, very clear and very helpful.. Would really help :) thank for movie too!
@MrNehoc not to forget, raid dps > your own dps.
if boss is low on armour, whole raid benefits.
meaning that because his heroic strike is buffed through the glyph, and more importantly, through his gear, he deals more damage using heroic strike, therefore making heroic strike a more viable skill to use rage on
@SuperKranius i am talking about the actual armor being "penetrated" not armor pen rating.
I used both Bartender AND Pitbull and couldn't figure out how he had that clean presentation of rage and health around his CHARACTER, not portrait, along with the clean combat text scrolling perfectly around it. If anyone could help me figure what he's using REALLY and how to set it up that would great! Thanks!
if you havnt got instant slam use the cds rekless/death wish, rebuff battle shout/commanding shout or hit with heroic strike

can someone tell me the name of the addon that shows your health and rage in those bars curved around your charector?
I was just wondering about a couple of the addons you have, one I want to know about is the one that tells you when certain things are up, (blood surge, overpower, ect.) and what addon your using to make all the cast bars look nice
Thank you for your guide indeed one of the best
Nice video! Helped me a lot with my warrior.
Can't seem to find your 'NiceNamage' addon though.
Halp?
Very nice guide, thanks a lot! I got a arm pvp / prot pve warrior, but switching one build for fury now, thanks to your guide!
FYI. The gems and how to gear is diplayed in part 1. But i do agree.
@Lingura123
Don't. Stay protection until you hit 80. Reason for this is that you should be getting instant dungeon invitations as protection and you'd be waiting
thank u! you really helped me out. WARMANE!
Warmane? Lol

was wondering if u guys were planning on making an arms vid or not. ty
Thanks again for the great video.

nice video.. really nice.
could you please explain gemming gear to me?
whats more important; strength or armor penetration...
brooooo i love your videos
Thank you so much! I think this is what I've been looking for
This video is so relaxing...
This. I need to know if I've been doing it right for the last year.
Neither of those are really part of a rotation. Heroic throw is good to throw in when you have nothing else available. What addon you used for your unitframes :) !? i really like your guide :)
I often find myself to be the only warrior in a 10-man raid. How would you work in Sunder Armor into your rotation?
@bloodyhell01 with the talent unbridled wrath, which he picked up, fury warriors will generate a lot more rage from damage done than taken
Thank you so much for this vid.... i had the rotation down but needed to know what stats i needed, and the heroic strike tip was a big help :)
How did you make your screen look so good? What addons are you using?
im kinda glad you ask cause im swaping to fury despite my love for pvp but i need to pve for a while and i was thinking about the same thing
I love that UI can you tell me what addons you are using?
that is a HUD (heads up display) around his character.
BB
@SuperKranius I think the button-glowing-addon is ButtonFacade
An altenative to the jump, to interrupt slam, u can also make a macro like this:
/cast Slam
/stopcast Slam
The effect of this macro should be self-given :)
very good movie. I don't usually like warrior dps (i play a prot/prot warrior), but your vid is interesting. I think I may try to put a set together.
Hey what addon do you use to show the time on blood surge? It looks really helpful :)
like the other guides is there a reason why you don not put up a stats priorty list ? becasue its kinda important to have that as well when your trying to gear your warrior
is there some kind of a timing addon that helps him stay on his rotation or is it just him knowing when to do the different attacks?
i think you mean the top left and it's pitbull, but its an very hard to configure addon so it will not look like this instantly
@Darkoverlord101 Yes I'm very sure about rage is not a problem in endgame gear.
Especially if your raid buffs are all around good, you'll most likely stay at 60 rage plus at all time :)
Slam should only be used on the proc. Would u only use shattering throw if there is no warrior tank?
You gave heroic strike a bit of a miss: When last i checked heroic strike crits with impale hit for a LOT with the 2.2x damage modifier... 2k main hand white crits do close to 5300 damage when heroic strike crits...
thanks alot for the tips man, I will totally try to get used to Shattering throw :) But, say I'm in a daily random HC or something, and all the other DPS (who only is 2 then) are casters, should I skip it then? On casual mobs. thx
what is your character status bar addon ? looks awesome
@ROGAL8 Only stack sunder armor if you have a different tank than a warrior, dont use it on anything other than raid bosses, if there isnt any other armor migration tank. And even if thats so, you should only be doing it if the raid is a progress raid.. Thats just my oppinion
@komamn09 No you dont have to it actually reduces your rage if you charge
STR and AP are pretty much the same thing, except STR gives one different thing which is block.. It also gives ~2 AP for every 1 STR.
Really good guide, thanks!
The health and rage bars beside his character are from the IceHud addon.
nice vid but u did not talk about charge. do fury warriors need 2 charge before combat?
Make sure you have the gear for it, he didnt mention thats your dps will be spit upon if your gear isnt good with 2 232 dps weps.
Great video. I may even try to level my 62 warrior now :).
oh trust me, that's a very small "Look".
While we are the most versitile calss in game (aside from minimal range abilites), if you don't take time to learn it, don't obther rolling.
Why is Shattering Throw so important? When should you use Recklessness and Death Wish?
My maths isn't correct i suppose....
1k main hand hit, 2k main hand crit...
1495 main hand HS, = 2.2 x 1495 (impale giefs 20% bonus crit, and heroic strike bonus damage has and always will be doubled on a crit) So you're eft at like 3300 heroic strike crit or something like that, an increase of 1300 damage on a basic MH crit, as impale DOES NOT affect non-special attacks.
he seys do not use hit rating or expertise gems and ofc you use strength... Your talents and armor alone should cap you for both hit and expertise he does mention it
@ghillemh imo ArP until you have 650, then STR. Im not so sure but it something about how the scaling of ArP goes down after 650 rating
There is an addon that you can get if you don't like to get any scrolling battle text. It is called 'Nao!!' and you are welcome.
@MLGxLosko
This information of sunder armor effect giving direct ArP is incorrect.
Let's say, the boss have 10.000 armor,
after 5 stacks of sunder armor is aplied the boss has: 8000 armor.
Here comes the ArP, if you have 50% ArP from gear/gems, the boss now has 4000 armor. And if the stacks is not aplied it has 5000 armor.
So, the cap of ArP is not 80%, it's 100% (1400). After you reach 100% ArP, you will not benefit from sunder armor or fearie fire anymore, though, aplying sunderarmor=win
you can do a macro so that if you dont have instant slam then it wont cast, it interupt itself within just a mili second i think.
i dont know the exact macro but it will help alot! cause every second that the slam is loading you lose auto swing
suggestion for if you dont get the free slam from bloodthirst or whirlwind, use heroic strike in its place! =)
@josh090807 he said to use heroic strike only if you have over 50 rage, so I don't get what you disagree on.
i was just wandering what add-on you used for your UI/actionbars and where you got it from.
Has there been some calculation of how much heroic throw-stance dance increases dps?
