I take my hat off to your 'jump in feet first attitude'. It worked out brilliantly. Resin is so expensive and with all your efforts this should sell for hundreds of pounds! Thank you for sharing your experiment.
WOW !! How brave of you to just jump right in with resin , not just one layer but multiple & your first time ever , I stand in awe. One thing is for sure, you are going to get a lot of depth in this piece of art. Unfortunately epoxy resin is so expensive.

What kinds are you doing?
imagine having to do art in an age without the convenience of photoshop? I love not having to do a piece twelve times to see what I can do with it. I'm glad you went with fogging the background a bit it looks amazing.
RIGHT?! My parents have boxes full of my artwork from when I was younger and half of it is like 5 pages of the same image that I've traced adding or removing stuff here and there. Have yet to convince them to throw those out haha.
Thankyou! Yeah I think it just needed a little definition, and the fog worked well. I want to try some more resin stuff using the fogging technique. I think it could be really fun to play with!

Love Love Love this!! I love the drawing of the face so wish I could draw like that but I can't. That is why I use stamps or clip art.
I love it. You did such a fabulous job. I am wanting to do this as well. I stumbled across another artist who does the layers of resin and painting too. In case you haven't see. Her work, her name is Cathy Lane and she did a coral red reef. It is gorgeous so you must have a look, you won't be disappointed. I am now going to watch more of your videos. Thanks heaps for taking the time to teach others.

This is by far the best example of resin layering on youtube I absolutely LOVE it! Have you ever done anything else like this? I would love to try this with my little boy with non toxic resin obviously! is there any reason you can't just throw in flowers and the like!

i did a similar experiment with red leaves and they all turned green. I see some of yours did, but honestly a little jelly over here cause they looked good for the most part and the paint over looks great too.

Pity about the whole 'resin not liking 3D objects much' thing. Would be cool to experiment with 3D printed components in a larger resin piece.

NOSTY you could definitely try it! That sounds like such a cool idea!! Just be careful to get rid of any air pockets maybe with a stick or needle while the resin is still wet
Well, I'm no traditional artist, but if you ever wanted to try it and need something 3D printed, I'd be happy to make you something. :)

I've found that a heat gun and only pouring in small layers makes incorporating 3D objects no problem. I actually just made a tutorial about my process too th-cam.com/video/nxmP_I9gEvM/w-d-xo.html
That's beautiful! I found this video as a recommended for me via TH-cam. For a resin that doesn't yellow try Art Resin if you haven't already. They have a youtube channel, Instagram etc. also. - Heidi

Hi! Can normal printer paper be used for transferring the drawing?
Yep! As long as you cover the opposite side with pastel/chalk/graphite or something similar and put that side down it will transfer when you put pressure on the opposite side!
what type of paper did you use to xfer the photo on the painting?
I explain it at 7:28 😊 any paper will do, but because I printed it from a computer sketch, I just used crappy printing paper. You can also buy carbon paper which it’s basically a ready-made version
