That example with 0.5(31), where 31 is the repeating sequence, has blowned my mind. I think this is the idea behind "the algorithm", thought in school, for writing a number with repeating decimals into a fraction.

Technically the algebraic numbers can all be written as sums, products, ratios, and/or roots of integers.
At least all solutions to 1st through 4th degree polynomial equations can be written as such.

Why -3 -2 -1 rational numbers
-30/10 = -3, -50/25 = -2, -100/100 = -1. You can write all of them as fraction using two intergers.
