Cheating happens, but I hate when people say "birds mate for life and when their mate dies they stay single" this is an old puritan garbage. In nature monogamous animals would be a disaster, I have surveyed male eagles going to 5 nests, and multiple male eagles visiting 1 female. People like to believe animals are in happy monogamous relationships to justify why they must be married.
What about all the fathers that paid child support on a kid that wasn't even theirs. You cannot imagine the emotional pain that you feel when you find this out. I know because it happened to me. It's been over 10 years and I'm still dealing with it. It is the equivalent of rape.
This is why paternity test needs to be mandatory
