You know, this fight really shows how much Bowser trusts his minions. He has powers of reality itself, and decides to conjure something to fight the Bros. He doesn't conjure up more Bowsers, or super monsters of some kind. He summons his minions. Even after years of failure on their part, Bowser's mind decides that the most effective weapon he has on his side are the Minions. You have to admire that kind of respect. And as the Bowser's Minions games as a whole show that the Minions love him back. Bowser doesn't rule out of fear and force like other evil kings. He rules out of charisma, respect, and leadership. This type of leadership is what inspires true loyalty. They would gladly risk their lives to help their king, all out of their own free will. Such a respectful and multi-faceted relationship between a bad guy and their Mooks that we don't see that often.
Toads: We love our princess!! Peach: *uses them as a shield* Lumas: We love our Mama!! Rosalina: *willingly throws them at the enemy and doesn’t even blink when they die* Minions: We love our king!! Bowser: Aw, shucks you guys...
What's super interesting about this fight is the fact that in the previous games, Bowser has been paying attention to the patterns. He's been acknowledging his weaknesses and building on them. He's been back stabbed so many times by other villains to the point where he knew when and where to back stab Antasma - when they were at their peak. They had the dream stone, they were both incredibly strong together, but Bowser knew deep down Antasma was just using him to regain his full strength, so he finally turned the tables and back stabbed the main threat of the game when it was the right time, something I'm sure many of us didn't see coming. Not to mention, in Bowser's Inside Story, you helped him become strong, you trained him to see these patterns, and he heeded it all. Bowser saw through Antasma and betrayed him, he has the dream stone, he has control over reality itself. This isn't a fight for the Mushroom Kingdom or the Island anymore, this is a fight for the entire WORLD. If Mario and Luigi failed to defeat Bowser, he would've ruled over everything and been unstoppable. This track represents Mario and Luigi’s utter desperation and hopelessness, they NEED to win, no matter the cost, and yet they’re faced with the impossible. The Koopa King has turned into the Koopa God, and I think the most horrifying fact is: You created this.
You, Sir, have blown my mind. Bowser is indeed a very well developed villain. One who learns from his defeats and improves himself accordingly? That's a terrifying thing.
I don’t think Antasma ever planned to betray bowser. His dialogue and shock when he’s betrayed implies he was honestly planning on an equal partnership. He also just doesn’t strike me as that kind of person
Also antasma never forced bowser to help him, he asked and persuaded bowser into taking the partnership. Basically both dream team villains were very smart
@@Theemeraldgamestone In my opinion, Sonic didn't really die with 06. Sure the game was a glitchy mess but 1. It was rushed and it isn't the first game that had a lot of hype and then got rushed and failed (insert Spyro: Enter the Dragonfly footage here) and 2. 06 had redeemable qualities such as a fantastic soundtrack, a great villain in Mephiles, Silver, and Shadow's entire story. Secret Rings was a bad but even then, the storybook style was original and Erazor was a pretty okay villain for the series. Unleashed was great, Black Knight is much better than people give it credit for, and we all know how good Colors and Generations were. Sonic really started dying with Lost World since Sonic was the only main character, other good characters like Tails, Knuckles, and Amy got turned into useless background characters, even though they had major roles in other games, except Unleashed and maaaaaybe Colors, The Deadly Six were good villains in concept but were handled terribly by being very boring and only having one good member on Zavok, and, most importantly, following in Dream Team's format of having a really cool and original main villain (Antasma and Zavok) only for them to get shafted in favor of the series main villain instead (Bowser and Eggman). Lost World is where Sonic truly started to die, not 06 or Shadow the Hedgehog like everyone without the ability to see the good in those games say they did. Anyways, sorry for my rant. @@goldenhydreigon4727 Then, when Mania was about to bring Sonic back to his former fame, Forces happened and brought him back down to "meh at best" category. Not only that, Sonic fans are slowly losing trust with their company, bc rn Sonic Team is doing and mumbling the exact same thing before Forces released - delay the game and say it's for the best. And to add to the salt, the SEGA Expo showed NOTHING about Sonic when it was all about Sonic, instead they played 30 minutes of _fucking Catherine Full Body._ That last one really got me off edge, and as Sonic fan I'm now not sure I trust them anymore.
Well I think on the last time I fought Dreamy Bowser (which was a few years ago I think), I was on easy mode (I'm not strong enough to take him on in normal mode), I had gotten his guard down and I used the slingshot attack, and no joke, that did around 1200-1400 damage, which was strong enough to kill him. Though not once. Edit: I finally beat him on Normal Mode at level 38.

Bowser just wants to stop Mario not strait up murder him. This is shown in SS Bowsers Minions when Captain Goomba calls "Bowser" out on wanting to destroy Mario. Goomba knew the Bowser he was talking to was fake because the real Bowser does not want to destroy Mario.
@@greattitan371 Bowser in Dream Team tries to erase Mario and Luigi from existence with the Dream Stone and is only stopped by Peach and Starlow. Captain Goomba's just ignorant. Bowser has plainly said multiple time's he wants Mario dead.
My favorite aspect to this fight is the teamwork Mario and Luigi demonstrate. Bowser can capture one of them in his hand and then toss them, leading to a QTE of the other brother running to catch them. Or when a Shy Guy Airship chases one of them. The other jumps on, attacks the Shy Guys and destroys the ship. Shows how the two of them got even closer as family over the game.
If they shut down I will replay dream team on hard mode in honour of alpha dream for giving my favourite mario and Luigi game and I will gladly suffer through the zeekeeper and giant bowser fights
Unpopular opinion: Bowser is the best Mario villain. Maybe even topping Fawful and Dimentio. Because, instead of being a cliche villain where the villain destroys the universe, Bowser respects his minions no matter how much they fail. A villain with a bright side is something you don't see very often in other video game villains (I know someone said this already).
To be fair, Fawful was really just finishing what Cackletta started, a lackey at heart. Dimentio wanted to reset the universe to make it a truly peaceful world where he is king.

Sure he DID say he wanted a perfect world, and he also agreed with Count Bleck when he said that he wanted a world without violence, but considering the fact that he's manipulative, there could be a possibility that he's just lying, and that Dimentio has his OWN vision of a perfect world (a world where slavery, violence, and chaos only exists). As for Fawful, he never wanted to finish Cackletta's goal, he wanted to get revenge for HIMSELF.

Mario & Luigi felt like a perfect conclusion to both Bowser‘s character arc as well as the Mario & Luigi series as a whole. All the other games up to this point paid off brilliantly. The culmination of all the main characters getting to this point. Luigi gaining more self confidence, Mario being the hero as always and of course Bowser who has always felt flat to the other bad guys, where now he overthrows him because he learned from his mistakes. Truly, this is not only the Adventure‘s End for Dream Team, but all the moments of the M&L series that have been leading up to this moment. You know, fighting Bowser one final time is inevitable for Mario. Maybe that‘s also why Paper Jam felt so out of place…
Paper Jam in my opinion is where alphadream went wrong. The Mario & Luigi series has always been about introducing new characters and storylines. Paper Jam is just... Bowser and Paper Bowser want to kidnap their respective princess. I will say though, Paper Bowser's secret plot to take over the 3D Mushroom Kingdom (iirc) was good. But Paper or not, it's still Bowser.
the only thing imo paper jam did good is showing how 3d bowser improved and got smarter over paper bowser , who didn't have the same story arc as the 3d one .

We are never told Bowser is actually god, and this makes Mario and Luigi godslayers in the same world that a turtle from the same race as Bowser can crush Mario's entire life.

Honestly, I love how Bowser's a real final boss in this one. Bowletta doesn't count, and even then there's a fight after it. And Bowser with Princess Shroobs soul(? Idk what else to call it) is just a gimmick that's a cool idea, but kind of dissapointing. I honestly expected Bowser to get betrayed with how he's treated most of the time. I know people are gonna say 'it was obvious from the start' but Antasma was made out to be this new, unknown villain that seemed to be the reason Bowser stood a chance, with the dream stuff and all. But nope, Bowser just goes and steals the dream stone and gets some epic form.
Bowsers Betrayal was completely unnecessary and stupid. It made no sense for Bowser to betray him because Antasma made him stronger, didn’t even want to conquer the world and was nice to him. Yeah I get it he’s a villain but it’s still stupid. Also In my opinion it’s kind of a bad thing they made Bowser all villainess again in this game. He completely over shines in Antasma Who should’ve been the main villain. So excuse me for not being able to take Bowser that seriously when in the last game we saw him get fat. Also you could completely remove Bowser betraying Antasma from the story and nothing would change. That was her betrays him in the last 15 minutes of the game and right after we find out that I was or betrayed him Antasma dies so what was even the point
Almost every enemy in the Mario series has a leader, ruler, or dominant. Maybe every enemy we've seen has a leader of some sorts that we just haven't seen yet. The leader of the Bob-omb's is King Bob-omb, ruler of the Goomba's is the Goomba King, ruler of the Blooper's is Gooper Blooper, ruler of the Boo's is King Boo, and so on. But there's one species in particular that's got something special about them. The Koopas. Now we all know the Koopas certainly aren't the strongest enemy out there, but one thing they have is ambition. And their ruler, King Koopa, also known as Bowser, is no different. I mean if we dropped every King, Queen and everything in between into a giant arena with no upgrades or minions, would Bowser really come out on top? He'd do a fair job but I wouldn't think so. But what did Bowser do that no other species would even think of doing? Well. He brought every species together, formed an alliance with them, possibly preventing war between them and ending any previous war that had gone on beforehand, united them all into an army, achieved his goals several times in a row before his plans were shot down, and is still a formidable foe to one of the most iconic faces in history. Point is, by himself Bowser isn't this all powerful being of destruction. He's a turtle with a spiky shell that started off with an army of smaller turtles that even doubt themselves sometimes in dialogue boxes. But it's through his own ambition alone as to why he once threatened to take over the entire friggen universe from uniting tribes that also doubt their own competence and formed what we know today as Bowser's Army. Not the minions of death and hell itself that work out of fear for payment. No. It's the minions with hopes and dreams that work because they respect their leader. And you know what? Even after 35 years of service. They never once asked for a reward. They don't serve Bowser because they have to, they serve him because they want to.
Yeah Koopas are surprisingly noble even Bowser himself isn't too bad of a guy. Sure he tried to destroy an alternate universe but that universe was mostly empty at that point so if he succeeded he wouldn't have killed too many people anyway and he's done enough good to make up for it such as saving the world and even the multiiverse several times, helping stop a genocidal tyrant from wiping out the toads and conquering the world, and he has many other redeeming qualities.
And to make Bowser look even better as a person King Boo is irredeemably evil seriously King Boo tried to destroy the universe just out of hatred for Luigi.
I think bowser is pretty strong though. If Mario’s small fireballs can knock out enemies then I’m sure if bowser was fighting other bosses than his fire would do a lot. Not to mention how fast he is, i mean it’s canon that why king boo was a minion of bowsers in Mario 64 is because bowser destroyed him in a fight so he has that going for him as well
Bro true, Bowser might not be the strongest but he is definitly the smartest, he is always portrayed as dumb in the games, but he is a turtle of great intelligence, he leads all of the enemies in the games, Boo’s, Goomba’s, Bob-Ombs and Bloopers have their own King, but he united them all under one rule, not simply for power, but for unification. That’s why Bowser is my favourite Mario character, because the love he has for his minions, who fail him time and time again is remarkable, he never gives up, Mario has won hundreds of times against him, but he has the will and determination to defeat him. Even if it might take millenias. And of course because he’s just really cool
This was one of the most ruthless final bosses I've ever faced in the whole of my life. Definitely a "you better level up like no tomorrow and collect everything you can before you get here" kind of final boss.
That's definitely true. I remember doing a low-level run of Dream Team years ago; I got to Dreamy Bowser at level 20 and the fight took nearly 2 hours to finish.

@@lukerp1581 It's been a long time since I've done it (summer 2016), so I don't remember any specific strategies. I remember relying on sheer patience and badge effects to win those battles. Also, you can go into normal battles to fill up your badge meter then run away so you won't get EXP.
@@kelvindavis172 Didn’t think about badge effects, since they can definitely be used to cheese fights. I just now used the effect that freezes your opponent for 2 or 3 turns to deal 2200 damage to Dreamy Bowser and practically one shot him
So, this was my first M&L game. I was hyped when I first saw it, and played it for hours on end. This was my favorite fight. It was challenging, and I found it difficult. I had to use easy mode too many times to count. But this song still stands as one of the most inspirational themes to me, because it represents triumphing over a near-impossible foe. This song will most likely stick with me longer than any other one, because of all the time I've spent using it to overcome difficult challenges. In short, it's great.
Oh and in case you were wondering, this boss has the highest atk & def of any of the game's bosses (actually higher than Antasma X), and has like double def & HP on hard mode.
True though. I know its been said many times by other commentors, but bowser is one of the best villians in the M&L series. Not for being super evil, or incredibly dangerous, bar for this fight, but for his general respect as a villian. In the earlier mario games, Bowser was pretty easy to gain the trust of at the mention of helping him, but after BiS, he's learned to not be used so easily, hence why he instead betrays Antasma, knowing Antasma was going to do the same. And his fight, he can summon absolutely anything to defeat the bros and yet, he summons... his minions. Bowser, despite acting like his minions are worthless, has so much respect for them that he thinks they are his strongest options, rather than some kind of dream nuke to one-shot the bros or something. And going back to BiS, that game is where we see his actual personality shine the most. He's tough on his minions when they screw up, but he never truly hates them, and even shows off a little in what he sees as showing them how to become strong. Hell, his minions are litterally what makes up his special attacks (Except for the optional Broggy Bonker). Without them, boss fights would be so much harder. And seeing most of his army brainwashed by Fawful, he appreciates the minions he does have all that much more, not to mention he never blames any minion brainwashed, instead going right for fawful to bring them back. Hell, he even tries to recruit "Chippy" (Who's just Starlow pretending to be someone else in order to safely guide him) when he thinks "chippy" is helping bowser become stronger (He regains fire breath, the slam move, the spike ball, and is revived whenever he's crushed by something). He's extra mad at Chippy being starlow because he genuienly thought he had a new minion who could help him acheive his goals. Sorry for the wall of text, I just had to say this.

Mr. L, I tried to reference this of “these 2 partners” for the title of “partners in time”, and “final battle” as the name of the final phase of the final battle against Elder Shroob, but I think I ran out of ideas for partners in time so let me make a short little edit Edit: ok I added an extra line stating how they met old friends through time travel, and mixed that up with encountering familiar enemies from alternate worlds (Paper world)... is this good?

The M&L games always put you against some form of Bowser in the finale. But this is the first time it's ACTUALLY him, after being more of a comedic relief villain for the whole series.

This fight was the climax of buildup over 4 games. The final boss being this big confrontation with Bowser had been kinda alluded to ever since Superstar, with Bowser being kinda a running joke in that game. I'll always remember the moment as a kid when I finally beat this boss fight, one of my favorite gaming moments and favorite games of all time. This game is awesome and for good reason. Alphadream...... you guys where the best and you've made my life just that much better.
It's still crazy to me how one of the most epic final boss themes I've ever heard, came from a mario game. This song really does sound like it's the end of the world though. This was the first mario & luigi game I played so I was really hyped when I finally reached the end and this started playing as the fight started. Even though this game has WAY too many tutorials, and is overall kinda easy, I can't help but love it for what it was. Man, I miss this series. Rest in peace Alphadream. You won't be forgotten.
Easily the most intense boss fight in the game. It was a real challenge, forcing me to use 1-up after 1-up, only to have to take out his arms *again* because he’s obsessed with meat. This really made up for the fact that I pulverized Antasma using the time stop badge and a couple of Luiginary Hammers.
Bowser actually used the vacuum power the way fawful wanted, to use it against Mario and Luigi, in this game he used it to inhale the dream stones fragments and become stronger to try defeat the bros...
Dreamy Bowser: "You still dare to take me do ya? Through all the years of failure, I shall prevail. I WILL NOT LOSE TO YOU! This kingdom, this world, this galaxy, all mine. I don't need Peach when I have the Universe. Why don't you go lay down and dream about beating me, CAUSE YOU AIN'T GONNA DO IT IN THE REAL WORLD! Now that my super awesome villain speech is over, who should I crush first, or who will come out on top, King Koopa, or fatso and beanpole. " *Pulls out hammer and flips coin* "Guess it's all in Fate's hands now..."
Luigi is no coward. He's a real hero and he earned it in this game. I love Luigi he extremely under appreciated. I have been his number one fan from the beginning. Always will be. Luigi is at the top of his game.
Unpopular opinion time: I like this better than In the Final. I'm sorry! That song's still good, too, but I absolutely _love_ the orchestration they used for this one. So freaking good. Maybe it's just a me thing?
Woodenfan I can see how some people can prefer this over in the Finale and, to be fair, it is an amazing piece of work but, I personally prefer in the finale for both the sense of despair in the music, and also nostalgia
when you think about it Bowset had no parents only Kamek some could say baby bowser was bratty but many orphaned kids usually express sadness with anger also in 3D world that theme park level could be the whole purpose to reward his minions and let them enjoy themselves and have fun bowser never cared about peach he probably was hoping mario didnt even notice and mario didnt even care till peach went in he just wanted to let his minions enjoy themselves and treat them he never won he never got peach but he did it as a reward for them being by his side since day one and he probably understands cause he was once alone and by himself as baby bowser he took them in with care and love became a nice king helping the other minions many of the mario bros original showed how scared and timid they were but bowser took them in gave them happiness even in many games were the minions are seperate or having there own stories they still pledge and defend for bowser even when being threaten to be executed they still side with bowser and a good example is the super princess peach game were a hammer bro yelled hail bowser before dying shows how much they care about him and how much he respects them aswell
I swear not ONE Mario RPG has disappointed thus far. They all got everything that makes a game work: Gameplay, funny character moments (Cough cough Luigi), high stakes, new villains and most of all:CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT. I freakin love Bowser and this game made him even more bad ass cause it has that “Flow”. Sonic the Hedgehog had that same flow when Adventure 2 came out but then it all fell apart (Sadly) but I’m glad Mario managed to progres and succeed in the 2010’s. Alas, all good things come to an end RIP AlphaDream, the best damn thing a kid could’ve ever asked for in this world 🤧
Getting to this fight on the hard difficulty while being lower than level 40 and not abusing the "Enemy Time Stopper" or "Temporary Shield" badge combinations was one of the hardest feats to beat. Especially when 2:00 starts to play and one of the Bros. is dead while the other is barely hanging onto dear life does the moment start to tense up within you.
I'm currently playing through Hard Mode for the first time myself. Although things haven't been too hard so far, the 1st Giant Battle, THE fight that I'm familiar with the most in the whole game from fighting its X version like, I kid you not, 50 times or so as a kid, managed to almost annihilate my ass to oblivion in its NORMAL version is definitely concerning for the future fights. I am NOT looking forward to both Dreamy Bowser, and my personal nemesis, Antasma (both his normal and ESPECIALLY his X version.)
man this theme is just so damn nostalgic... I remember playing this game to death each year for a time, 3 times in normal mode and again in hard... definitely one of my favorite rpgs
Haven’t played this game in so long, glad to see that this track is still just as good as I remember it being when I first played and heard this on my 2DS. I genuinely think this is just as good as “in the finale”. no contest, no fighting over which is better, this and “In the finale” are both on equal footing in terms of atmosphere, intensity, and sheer confidence alone and I stand by that.

Yk After realizing for a minute. I just realized that Dream team is probably the last Mario and Luigi game in the timeline. Idk if Paper Jam is canon tho but this feels like a conclusion to the series
When you think of great mario villans, who do you think first? Maybe dimentio or fawful, but there is one that ALWAYS comes into mind first, the koopa king himself, Bowser. Now, many might say : "Bowser isn't all that great he's just a brute that steals peach" but he is SO much more than that, and this fight proves it, let me explain why. In this fight, Bowser with the dream stone is akin to a god, he can manifest and destroy whatever he wants, hell, if he wanted he could make 10 giga clones of himself, but what does he summon to try and defeat Mario and Luigi? His own minions, Bowser thinks the best way to fight them is to summon his minions, showing how much he respects and trusts in them, and in the minion games, we are shown that his minions share that feeling with him as they are happy to sacrifice themselves to protect him, he does not rule in fear like many evil kings, he rules in respect, loyalty and leadership. On the topic of respect, the fact that Bowser does not outright KILL Mario and Luigi in this fight shows that even though they always defeat him, he still respects them and wants to have a fair fight, showing that they have a bond that is incredibly deep, and that they are not enemies but rather are rivals. A sign of this is near the end of this game when Bowser finally respects Luigi enough to call him by his name and not "Green stach". And lastly, Bowser, especially in this game, knows his stuff. Before this fight, Bowser backstabs Antasma, because he himself has been used, betrayed and tossed aside by so many other villans that he knows when, where and how to backstab him because Bowser knew Antasma was using him to regain all his strength. Tl;dr: Bowser is cool and he plays tennis with his rivals so he is epic.
I've played this boss multiple times, and this song brings back the memories, and how that boss fight was the most epic boss fight I have ever experienced in a Mario and Luigi game.
When you think about it, this song is perfect for the unfortunate state of the Mario & Luigi franchise. After Alphadream shut down, this was essentially the final Mario & Luigi game, and what's more fitting is the absolute final boss of the series is a Bowser that has transformed with the power of infinite wishes and has essentially become God. This is THE end to all your adventures. You HAVE to defeat him or there never will be another. (I know paper jam exists, but in my heart, this is the end of the Mario & Luigi franchise just because of this song and the end to the game)
Hard Mode only gave me crap in the giant fights with gyro. Namely the Zeekeeper. Dreamy Bowser on regular mode however... I'd rather not like to think about it. I was Lv. 29 with both Bros and didn't use the timestop badge. Let's just say it took a long while.

They weren't brainwashed when they fought the duo. When the minions make it to the castle, they dispatch the last two Koopalings Ludwig and Lemmy, and then the Bros. arrive shortly after.
You know, this fight really shows how much Bowser trusts his minions. He has powers of reality itself, and decides to conjure something to fight the Bros.
He doesn't conjure up more Bowsers, or super monsters of some kind. He summons his minions. Even after years of failure on their part, Bowser's mind decides that the most effective weapon he has on his side are the Minions. You have to admire that kind of respect.
And as the Bowser's Minions games as a whole show that the Minions love him back. Bowser doesn't rule out of fear and force like other evil kings. He rules out of charisma, respect, and leadership. This type of leadership is what inspires true loyalty. They would gladly risk their lives to help their king, all out of their own free will. Such a respectful and multi-faceted relationship between a bad guy and their Mooks that we don't see that often.

What's super interesting about this fight is the fact that in the previous games, Bowser has been paying attention to the patterns. He's been acknowledging his weaknesses and building on them.
He's been back stabbed so many times by other villains to the point where he knew when and where to back stab Antasma - when they were at their peak. They had the dream stone, they were both incredibly strong together, but Bowser knew deep down Antasma was just using him to regain his full strength, so he finally turned the tables and back stabbed the main threat of the game when it was the right time, something I'm sure many of us didn't see coming.
Not to mention, in Bowser's Inside Story, you helped him become strong, you trained him to see these patterns, and he heeded it all. Bowser saw through Antasma and betrayed him, he has the dream stone, he has control over reality itself. This isn't a fight for the Mushroom Kingdom or the Island anymore, this is a fight for the entire WORLD. If Mario and Luigi failed to defeat Bowser, he would've ruled over everything and been unstoppable. This track represents Mario and Luigi’s utter desperation and hopelessness, they NEED to win, no matter the cost, and yet they’re faced with the impossible. The Koopa King has turned into the Koopa God, and I think the most horrifying fact is: You created this.

I don’t think Antasma ever planned to betray bowser. His dialogue and shock when he’s betrayed implies he was honestly planning on an equal partnership. He also just doesn’t strike me as that kind of person

In my opinion, Sonic didn't really die with 06. Sure the game was a glitchy mess but 1. It was rushed and it isn't the first game that had a lot of hype and then got rushed and failed (insert Spyro: Enter the Dragonfly footage here) and 2. 06 had redeemable qualities such as a fantastic soundtrack, a great villain in Mephiles, Silver, and Shadow's entire story. Secret Rings was a bad but even then, the storybook style was original and Erazor was a pretty okay villain for the series. Unleashed was great, Black Knight is much better than people give it credit for, and we all know how good Colors and Generations were. Sonic really started dying with Lost World since Sonic was the only main character, other good characters like Tails, Knuckles, and Amy got turned into useless background characters, even though they had major roles in other games, except Unleashed and maaaaaybe Colors, The Deadly Six were good villains in concept but were handled terribly by being very boring and only having one good member on Zavok, and, most importantly, following in Dream Team's format of having a really cool and original main villain (Antasma and Zavok) only for them to get shafted in favor of the series main villain instead (Bowser and Eggman). Lost World is where Sonic truly started to die, not 06 or Shadow the Hedgehog like everyone without the ability to see the good in those games say they did.
Anyways, sorry for my rant. Enjoy listening to this great final boss theme!

Not only that, Sonic fans are slowly losing trust with their company, bc rn Sonic Team is doing and mumbling the exact same thing before Forces released - delay the game and say it's for the best. And to add to the salt, the SEGA Expo showed NOTHING about Sonic when it was all about Sonic, instead they played 30 minutes of _fucking Catherine Full Body._ That last one really got me off edge, and as Sonic fan I'm now not sure I trust them anymore.

Well I think on the last time I fought Dreamy Bowser (which was a few years ago I think), I was on easy mode (I'm not strong enough to take him on in normal mode), I had gotten his guard down and I used the slingshot attack, and no joke, that did around 1200-1400 damage, which was strong enough to kill him. Though not once.
Edit: I finally beat him on Normal Mode at level 38.

My favorite aspect to this fight is the teamwork Mario and Luigi demonstrate.
Bowser can capture one of them in his hand and then toss them, leading to a QTE of the other brother running to catch them. Or when a Shy Guy Airship chases one of them. The other jumps on, attacks the Shy Guys and destroys the ship.
Shows how the two of them got even closer as family over the game.

Unpopular opinion: Bowser is the best Mario villain. Maybe even topping Fawful and Dimentio.
Because, instead of being a cliche villain where the villain destroys the universe, Bowser respects his minions no matter how much they fail. A villain with a bright side is something you don't see very often in other video game villains (I know someone said this already).
My opinion is my two favorite mario villains are bowser jr and dimentio (plus my favorite three koopalings are Larry, iggy and roy)
To be fair, Fawful was really just finishing what Cackletta started, a lackey at heart. Dimentio wanted to reset the universe to make it a truly peaceful world where he is king.

As for Fawful, he never wanted to finish Cackletta's goal, he wanted to get revenge for HIMSELF.

Mario & Luigi felt like a perfect conclusion to both Bowser‘s character arc as well as the Mario & Luigi series as a whole. All the other games up to this point paid off brilliantly. The culmination of all the main characters getting to this point. Luigi gaining more self confidence, Mario being the hero as always and of course Bowser who has always felt flat to the other bad guys, where now he overthrows him because he learned from his mistakes. Truly, this is not only the Adventure‘s End for Dream Team, but all the moments of the M&L series that have been leading up to this moment. You know, fighting Bowser one final time is inevitable for Mario.
Maybe that‘s also why Paper Jam felt so out of place…
Paper Jam in my opinion is where alphadream went wrong. The Mario & Luigi series has always been about introducing new characters and storylines. Paper Jam is just... Bowser and Paper Bowser want to kidnap their respective princess. I will say though, Paper Bowser's secret plot to take over the 3D Mushroom Kingdom (iirc) was good. But Paper or not, it's still Bowser.
the only thing imo paper jam did good is showing how 3d bowser improved and got smarter over paper bowser , who didn't have the same story arc as the 3d one .

Honestly, I love how Bowser's a real final boss in this one. Bowletta doesn't count, and even then there's a fight after it. And Bowser with Princess Shroobs soul(? Idk what else to call it) is just a gimmick that's a cool idea, but kind of dissapointing. I honestly expected Bowser to get betrayed with how he's treated most of the time. I know people are gonna say 'it was obvious from the start' but Antasma was made out to be this new, unknown villain that seemed to be the reason Bowser stood a chance, with the dream stuff and all. But nope, Bowser just goes and steals the dream stone and gets some epic form.

Bowsers Betrayal was completely unnecessary and stupid. It made no sense for Bowser to betray him because Antasma made him stronger, didn’t even want to conquer the world and was nice to him. Yeah I get it he’s a villain but it’s still stupid. Also In my opinion it’s kind of a bad thing they made Bowser all villainess again in this game. He completely over shines in Antasma Who should’ve been the main villain. So excuse me for not being able to take Bowser that seriously when in the last game we saw him get fat. Also you could completely remove Bowser betraying Antasma from the story and nothing would change. That was her betrays him in the last 15 minutes of the game and right after we find out that I was or betrayed him Antasma dies so what was even the point

Almost every enemy in the Mario series has a leader, ruler, or dominant. Maybe every enemy we've seen has a leader of some sorts that we just haven't seen yet. The leader of the Bob-omb's is King Bob-omb, ruler of the Goomba's is the Goomba King, ruler of the Blooper's is Gooper Blooper, ruler of the Boo's is King Boo, and so on. But there's one species in particular that's got something special about them. The Koopas.
Now we all know the Koopas certainly aren't the strongest enemy out there, but one thing they have is ambition. And their ruler, King Koopa, also known as Bowser, is no different. I mean if we dropped every King, Queen and everything in between into a giant arena with no upgrades or minions, would Bowser really come out on top? He'd do a fair job but I wouldn't think so. But what did Bowser do that no other species would even think of doing? Well. He brought every species together, formed an alliance with them, possibly preventing war between them and ending any previous war that had gone on beforehand, united them all into an army, achieved his goals several times in a row before his plans were shot down, and is still a formidable foe to one of the most iconic faces in history.
Point is, by himself Bowser isn't this all powerful being of destruction. He's a turtle with a spiky shell that started off with an army of smaller turtles that even doubt themselves sometimes in dialogue boxes. But it's through his own ambition alone as to why he once threatened to take over the entire friggen universe from uniting tribes that also doubt their own competence and formed what we know today as Bowser's Army. Not the minions of death and hell itself that work out of fear for payment. No. It's the minions with hopes and dreams that work because they respect their leader. And you know what?
Even after 35 years of service. They never once asked for a reward. They don't serve Bowser because they have to,
they serve him because they want to.
Yeah Koopas are surprisingly noble even Bowser himself isn't too bad of a guy. Sure he tried to destroy an alternate universe but that universe was mostly empty at that point so if he succeeded he wouldn't have killed too many people anyway and he's done enough good to make up for it such as saving the world and even the multiiverse several times, helping stop a genocidal tyrant from wiping out the toads and conquering the world, and he has many other redeeming qualities.
And to make Bowser look even better as a person King Boo is irredeemably evil seriously King Boo tried to destroy the universe just out of hatred for Luigi.

I think bowser is pretty strong though. If Mario’s small fireballs can knock out enemies then I’m sure if bowser was fighting other bosses than his fire would do a lot. Not to mention how fast he is, i mean it’s canon that why king boo was a minion of bowsers in Mario 64 is because bowser destroyed him in a fight so he has that going for him as well
Bro true, Bowser might not be the strongest but he is definitly the smartest, he is always portrayed as dumb in the games, but he is a turtle of great intelligence, he leads all of the enemies in the games, Boo’s, Goomba’s, Bob-Ombs and Bloopers have their own King, but he united them all under one rule, not simply for power, but for unification. That’s why Bowser is my favourite Mario character, because the love he has for his minions, who fail him time and time again is remarkable, he never gives up, Mario has won hundreds of times against him, but he has the will and determination to defeat him. Even if it might take millenias. And of course because he’s just really cool
This was one of the most ruthless final bosses I've ever faced in the whole of my life. Definitely a "you better level up like no tomorrow and collect everything you can before you get here" kind of final boss.
That's definitely true. I remember doing a low-level run of Dream Team years ago; I got to Dreamy Bowser at level 20 and the fight took nearly 2 hours to finish.

@@lukerp1581 It's been a long time since I've done it (summer 2016), so I don't remember any specific strategies. I remember relying on sheer patience and badge effects to win those battles. Also, you can go into normal battles to fill up your badge meter then run away so you won't get EXP.
@@kelvindavis172 Didn’t think about badge effects, since they can definitely be used to cheese fights. I just now used the effect that freezes your opponent for 2 or 3 turns to deal 2200 damage to Dreamy Bowser and practically one shot him

So, this was my first M&L game. I was hyped when I first saw it, and played it for hours on end. This was my favorite fight. It was challenging, and I found it difficult. I had to use easy mode too many times to count. But this song still stands as one of the most inspirational themes to me, because it represents triumphing over a near-impossible foe. This song will most likely stick with me longer than any other one, because of all the time I've spent using it to overcome difficult challenges. In short, it's great.

Oh and in case you were wondering, this boss has the highest atk & def of any of the game's bosses (actually higher than Antasma X), and has like double def & HP on hard mode.
This was my first M&L game too, but I played BiS, Remake and original, and PiT too, I think they are the best games I played

True though. I know its been said many times by other commentors, but bowser is one of the best villians in the M&L series. Not for being super evil, or incredibly dangerous, bar for this fight, but for his general respect as a villian. In the earlier mario games, Bowser was pretty easy to gain the trust of at the mention of helping him, but after BiS, he's learned to not be used so easily, hence why he instead betrays Antasma, knowing Antasma was going to do the same. And his fight, he can summon absolutely anything to defeat the bros and yet, he summons... his minions. Bowser, despite acting like his minions are worthless, has so much respect for them that he thinks they are his strongest options, rather than some kind of dream nuke to one-shot the bros or something. And going back to BiS, that game is where we see his actual personality shine the most. He's tough on his minions when they screw up, but he never truly hates them, and even shows off a little in what he sees as showing them how to become strong. Hell, his minions are litterally what makes up his special attacks (Except for the optional Broggy Bonker). Without them, boss fights would be so much harder. And seeing most of his army brainwashed by Fawful, he appreciates the minions he does have all that much more, not to mention he never blames any minion brainwashed, instead going right for fawful to bring them back. Hell, he even tries to recruit "Chippy" (Who's just Starlow pretending to be someone else in order to safely guide him) when he thinks "chippy" is helping bowser become stronger (He regains fire breath, the slam move, the spike ball, and is revived whenever he's crushed by something). He's extra mad at Chippy being starlow because he genuienly thought he had a new minion who could help him acheive his goals.

It seems this will be your adventure’s ending... before we can close the page to this saga of a dream team to these 2 partners... after getting out of jams in the inside stories of dreams and nightmares... after encountering old friends through time and familiar enemies through alternate worlds... before we end it all we still need 1 epic final battle and this won’t be as easy as punching a piece of paper... no more talking... after all it’s SHOWTIME!

Edit: ok I added an extra line stating how they met old friends through time travel, and mixed that up with encountering familiar enemies from alternate worlds (Paper world)... is this good?

This fight was the climax of buildup over 4 games. The final boss being this big confrontation with Bowser had been kinda alluded to ever since Superstar, with Bowser being kinda a running joke in that game. I'll always remember the moment as a kid when I finally beat this boss fight, one of my favorite gaming moments and favorite games of all time. This game is awesome and for good reason. Alphadream...... you guys where the best and you've made my life just that much better.

It's still crazy to me how one of the most epic final boss themes I've ever heard, came from a mario game. This song really does sound like it's the end of the world though.
This was the first mario & luigi game I played so I was really hyped when I finally reached the end and this started playing as the fight started. Even though this game has WAY too many tutorials, and is overall kinda easy, I can't help but love it for what it was. Man, I miss this series. Rest in peace Alphadream. You won't be forgotten.
PEAK character development for bowser though. after getting betrayed "a few" times, he becomes the betrayer himself.
Easily the most intense boss fight in the game. It was a real challenge, forcing me to use 1-up after 1-up, only to have to take out his arms *again* because he’s obsessed with meat. This really made up for the fact that I pulverized Antasma using the time stop badge and a couple of Luiginary Hammers.

when you think about it Bowset had no parents only Kamek some could say baby bowser was bratty but many orphaned kids usually express sadness with anger also in 3D world that theme park level could be the whole purpose to reward his minions and let them enjoy themselves and have fun bowser never cared about peach he probably was hoping mario didnt even notice and mario didnt even care till peach went in he just wanted to let his minions enjoy themselves and treat them he never won he never got peach but he did it as a reward for them being by his side since day one and he probably understands cause he was once alone and by himself as baby bowser he took them in with care and love became a nice king helping the other minions many of the mario bros original showed how scared and timid they were but bowser took them in gave them happiness even in many games were the minions are seperate or having there own stories they still pledge and defend for bowser even when being threaten to be executed they still side with bowser and a good example is the super princess peach game were a hammer bro yelled hail bowser before dying shows how much they care about him and how much he respects them aswell

I swear not ONE Mario RPG has disappointed thus far. They all got everything that makes a game work: Gameplay, funny character moments (Cough cough Luigi), high stakes, new villains and most of all:CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT. I freakin love Bowser and this game made him even more bad ass cause it has that “Flow”. Sonic the Hedgehog had that same flow when Adventure 2 came out but then it all fell apart (Sadly) but I’m glad Mario managed to progres and succeed in the 2010’s. Alas, all good things come to an end RIP AlphaDream, the best damn thing a kid could’ve ever asked for in this world 🤧

Getting to this fight on the hard difficulty while being lower than level 40 and not abusing the "Enemy Time Stopper" or "Temporary Shield" badge combinations was one of the hardest feats to beat. Especially when 2:00 starts to play and one of the Bros. is dead while the other is barely hanging onto dear life does the moment start to tense up within you.
I'm currently playing through Hard Mode for the first time myself. Although things haven't been too hard so far, the 1st Giant Battle, THE fight that I'm familiar with the most in the whole game from fighting its X version like, I kid you not, 50 times or so as a kid, managed to almost annihilate my ass to oblivion in its NORMAL version is definitely concerning for the future fights.
I am NOT looking forward to both Dreamy Bowser, and my personal nemesis, Antasma (both his normal and ESPECIALLY his X version.)

Haven’t played this game in so long, glad to see that this track is still just as good as I remember it being when I first played and heard this on my 2DS. I genuinely think this is just as good as “in the finale”. no contest, no fighting over which is better, this and “In the finale” are both on equal footing in terms of atmosphere, intensity, and sheer confidence alone and I stand by that.

When you think of great mario villans, who do you think first? Maybe dimentio or fawful, but there is one that ALWAYS comes into mind first, the koopa king himself, Bowser. Now, many might say : "Bowser isn't all that great he's just a brute that steals peach" but he is SO much more than that, and this fight proves it, let me explain why.
In this fight, Bowser with the dream stone is akin to a god, he can manifest and destroy whatever he wants, hell, if he wanted he could make 10 giga clones of himself, but what does he summon to try and defeat Mario and Luigi? His own minions, Bowser thinks the best way to fight them is to summon his minions, showing how much he respects and trusts in them, and in the minion games, we are shown that his minions share that feeling with him as they are happy to sacrifice themselves to protect him, he does not rule in fear like many evil kings, he rules in respect, loyalty and leadership.
On the topic of respect, the fact that Bowser does not outright KILL Mario and Luigi in this fight shows that even though they always defeat him, he still respects them and wants to have a fair fight, showing that they have a bond that is incredibly deep, and that they are not enemies but rather are rivals. A sign of this is near the end of this game when Bowser finally respects Luigi enough to call him by his name and not "Green stach".
And lastly, Bowser, especially in this game, knows his stuff. Before this fight, Bowser backstabs Antasma, because he himself has been used, betrayed and tossed aside by so many other villans that he knows when, where and how to backstab him because Bowser knew Antasma was using him to regain all his strength.
Tl;dr: Bowser is cool and he plays tennis with his rivals so he is epic.
Agreed. Bowser is one of the most well developed characters in the franchise. This game was Bowser at his peak as well as Luigi.

Honestly, I would have been happy to hear this song in Smash Ultimate, it would have made my matches feel like I was fighting a final boss.
I've played this boss multiple times, and this song brings back the memories, and how that boss fight was the most epic boss fight I have ever experienced in a Mario and Luigi game.
When you think about it, this song is perfect for the unfortunate state of the Mario & Luigi franchise. After Alphadream shut down, this was essentially the final Mario & Luigi game, and what's more fitting is the absolute final boss of the series is a Bowser that has transformed with the power of infinite wishes and has essentially become God. This is THE end to all your adventures. You HAVE to defeat him or there never will be another.
(I know paper jam exists, but in my heart, this is the end of the Mario & Luigi franchise just because of this song and the end to the game)
