Last time I saw them was at the Burt inn Wpg. On the floor right in front of the sound booth. There was a guy in his 50s I'd say who came sat down beside us and when the show started he began weeping and he cried through the whole thing. It didn't seem out of place at all. Some people were cheering some people were sitting there some people were weeping. Joey and David somehow manage to make a space for each other and for whoever's playing in their band for things that matter to come to the surface. And they make that space for their audience too. Part of it is being such good players the music just seems to exist around them on its own at a live show. Part of it is they are genuine people.
Steve Bell must be an incredible man with the utmost integrity to do what he did. When I decided to leave my touring band as a side man and start my own thing, my bandleader blackballed me and threatened me. Steve Bell! Cheers mate!! 👏
Hi i live in Adelaide South Australia i am proud to say that i have all three of your albums and thankful to the day i saw a you tube clip of these Canadians around a pool party singing a song and i was hooked your music is very inspiring. You may or may not remember i reached out to you asking for a copy of let it lie and you were gracious enough to not only send me a copy but you all signed it so thank you i have put so many people on to your music here and they always respond with wow that is awesome. I play guitar and if i had just one finger of the talent you have Joey I’d be happy to go to my grave with a smile. God bless you all.
This album and all the albums both together and solo, changed my life. Some guitar players make you want to quit playing guitar. Joey is not that. Joey makes you dream of what’s possible on guitar. And Dave is there with the Bros. to lay out a perfect pathway for Joey. What a special band. What a special album. P.S. if you haven’t seen them live yet, you are MISSING OUT! Find a way to see them when they’re closest to you next, I promise you won’t regret it.
I’m 54 years old and just found these guys last year and now this is one of my all time favorite albums. Sent me down a rabbit hole of everything they’ve done. Algorithms are good for something!
As a father of two little boys (and a wee girl), I hope I can give my kids as pure an experience of music as you guys got. It's ended up with you creating some truly gorgeous music!
My kids are 17 and 19 now and they're both wonderful musicians. I started with taking them to jazz drum lessons and it's something that stuck within their entire lives. You are giving your kids a beautiful gift when you share music with them
Since first hearing you on Bob Harris's show, and hearing Greenhouse, I've been stuck with you ever since. It's been quite a strange journey at times, and I miss the original line-up - but it has always been brilliant and i always come back to The Bros. Brilliant! Greetings from the UK!
Imagine your first studio album being as refined, mature, and fully developed as Let It Lie! Congratulations for starting from such a high place and then not only meeting it with subsequent albums but building and developing on it. The love you put into your work is so palpable
Sometimes, having no vision, maybe, is the best vision. It can give the idea of a song a free and clear path to what winds up on the tape. Another example of why I just love the music y'all make.
Thank you for putting together this reflection! It’s amazing to look back on the 10 years and see how far your music has come. I can still remember seeing you guys for the first time in Toronto in the Fall of 2013! And Let it Lie will forever be one of my favourite albums to listen to in its entirety. So, thank you!
So nice to get a brief experience behind the doors of let it lie. Thank you! I got chills so many times watching and listening to the video of an album that is a modern classic of American song writing. Here's to at least 10 more years of the Bros. Landreth.
Guys. My bride and I have loved your music for a long time. You’ve got a reason to celebrate. I’m confident you will do so and wake up and kick more ass.
This music brings me to tears. I can’t even explain why. They’re not tears of joy, sadness, or any other explicable emotions. It’s just beautiful. The last time you came to Manchester was a life changing experience for me. I expect this time will be, again. Safe travels.
It's been so awesome following you guys through and your evolution through your music. Anytime you ever get even remotely close to the northeast US, we're there. One of the fondest memories of my life was traveling out to Kentucky to see you guys play at Zanzibar and Willy's. Keep on rockin!
Listening to Let It Lie today brings back so many great memories of the person I was when the album first came out. Can’t thank the Bros enough for making this beautiful album and all the wonderful music over the years.
Got turned onto to you during Covid. How the hell had I never of heard of you before. I dissected the album with my ears, weaving in and out of harmonies, juicy guitar, haunting whirly sounds and picked up my bass again, inspired by the deep groove. Traveled far and wide to catch live shows. Fell in love with this album and to this day, I either listen to it a little everyday, think of a specific lyric or get lost in the emotional rawness on my long journeys behind the wheel. My heart is so happy to have found it! Cheers!
Lightning 100 in Nashville Tennessee had a live broadcast from 3rd and lindsley about 5 or 6 years ago. I was home cleaning the house, had the radio on and cranked up. TBL started playing could not believe my ears, I said who the f*** are these guys? Huge fan ever since! Thank you guys for all the authentic beauty you bring. ☮️🎶💚
Normally I wouldn't be into this kind of music, but after seeing Joey and Dave on That Pedal Show, being so genuine, funny, and just really good guys, I gave the album a listen. Took me some time and a few listens, but now I could not imagine my headphones without them. Thank you guys for your music and for being you, it's really inspiring. Hope that you come to visit Sweden soon!
I've watched this twice in the last week and may watch it again. I've played since '67 and know that folks like you don't come around often. Thank you and please don't stop.
Thank you for sharing this, I find myself listening to this album again and again going “how is their first album it’s just so good”. This puts so much of that in to context and I am so appreciative of the transparency that allows me to connect to your music even further.
So good to hear the re-interpretation of the tracks, I know only to well how these songs change slightly over the years of playing and singing them over and over again in front of an audience, a tweak to the vocal melody here and a tweak to a chord movement there and suddenly it injects a whole new feel and meaning to them, but at the end of the day they are just killer tunes and I am truly grateful to have discovered the album when I did as it inspired me to write an album for the band I was in at the time. This album is with me all year, either in the garden cooking up a barbeque, late at night around the fire pit and most definitely on holiday around the pool. Great collection of songs Gents. Deeboy UK. xx
Amazing insights into the creative process … the combination of talented artists and a great producer and how the creative process unfolds is a great story. Thanks for making this and looking forward to seeing you in London soon.
Such a lovely capture of such a fantastic group and excellent album. So grateful to know them, their music and cannot wait for all they can create!!! Bravo to all involved~
This album got me through my high school and college years!Every time I get home from a gig that’s a few hours away and this album comes up it brings up so much great memories! Thank guys so much!
What a treat to watch the creation of the Let it Lie project. Without a doubt one of my all time favorite CDs by one of my all time favorite bands. Love you guys! Cheers!
Tremendous album! Both the original and acoustic albums have a place in our home! Have seen the band and Joey numerous times both together and solo. Always leave with such musical fulfilment!
Brilliant Doco. Gotta love Dave & Joey and their secret weapon, Murray. I'm sure he's a Landreth in Pulvar clothing :) One of my all time favourite albums ever!!!
Wonderful video, thank you for putting it together. Fond memories when you each decided to invest in your unique freakish flair and ridiculous talent. I was impressed how you launched your dream with space shuttle ambition and focus. Your sincere open minds and hearts makes it easy to connect with your humanity! Congratulations on celebrating 10 years and having your dreams realized! It’s been an amazing experience to witness your success, thank you! Looking forward to more of your incredible music too!
I can't get enough of this mini doc! This album is so good and hearing the thoughts on how it came to be and how it's still making an impact is awesome!
Thanks for the inside view, guys. Incredible album! Was a treat seeing you in Ft. Worth earlier this year. C’mon back soon. Wish you continued success and look forward to more great music to come.✌🏻
I just love your music.....and to see you guys enjoying the stuffing out of your selves at the Bear Creek Music festival this summer was just pure joy for me. Love you guys and keep on keepin on.......❤❤❤
This makes me incredibly happy! Your music inspires me so much - it's odd because I find myself often unable to listen because it immediately inspires me to pick up my own guitar and write something. So awesome!
Such a great record! My intro to a whole world of awesome music by the bros & their friends. Dave always looks like he has the warmest sweaters too. I'm grateful to have a knowledge of the bros. Landreth in my life. Thanks dudes!
I found these guys on TH-cam--their cover of Into White, written by Cat Stevens/Yusuf is spellbinding. Murray plays the accompanying guitar masterfully. Nice video story of how they began.
Y'know what I just did, like a frigging pud? I'd listened to LiL, then 'Whiskey', enough that I memorized every nuance of them from '14 or whenever it was until I was sick of *myself*, then took a break, and in so doing, completely missed '87', the Lowell record, the new record, until 2 days ago, when it all occurred to me and I crushed'em all in a day at work, eventually finishing up over cranking out pizzas for friends to eat while the kids came and went for hallowe'en; then realizing when I saw a mirror halfway through, that I was wearing my Joey solo tour flowernipple shirt. I gotta tell'em, I thought. Come to Hali. I owe you a round of tacos.
This is such a wonderful insight into the creative process for you all. I am slightly saddened that none of you said "what's that aboot" once but I shall carry on the best I can.
The original album was wonderful, this reissue is a masterpiece! The acoustic versions are beautiful additions. Next tour, maybe do an acoustic set first, have a little intermission and then do the electric set. I’d love to see that! I’m sure others have done this, but I saw Beck do this many years ago… he did a Sea Change set and then came back with the Flaming Lips back and played Midnight Vultures. It was great!
They say "don't meet your heroes". What they should say is "don't meet your heros, mistake them for event staff, ask them where the bathrooms are and run off desperate for a pee". Yeah, it was good to meet you in Leeds UK Joey 🤣

Canadians are so nice. The cold would harden most people but it makes Canadians so kind.
Wow.... Joey .. I am even more prouder of you!!

Love your tunes & the handful of times we've got to meet up post shows. 🙏
love this, can't wait to see you guys again in December Manchester UK
HOLY S**T Dave & Joe. Real people making real music. Thanks for the memory…. Tom T Ball
Despite the obvious risk of cliche, I would love to hear a Christmas album from the bros. I’d love to hear their take on some of the classic tunes.
This album is "Lightning in a bottle"! Thanks for this documentary!

Glad you enjoyed it!
This is just great. Need more.
This album has been part of our lives for ten years; it’s an all time favourite. Can’t wait to share it with you at Thekla next month!
Best album I've heard in years!
