Many actors and actresses didn't including Genevieve. To be an actor, you just need to be given the opportunity to act and you will learn on the job over time. Even abroad in NY or LA, many times people go to acting schools to get to know people who cast like producers and directors so they can be cast in roles, not to "learn" to act.
