While researching an affordable way to DIY the mismatched furniture I already have in the nursery, I stumbled across chalk paint! I read a lot of great things about Annie Sloan chalk paint/wax/brushes, but I decided to go for a generic brand paint from Walmart 'Waverly' which cost me only $5.97! I think it did a really nice job, but it dried very quickly so you need to work fast!
I also skipped on the wax brush and bought a$3.00 Economy brush instead. This part I might reconsider for my next projects because the brush did absorb a lot of paint, and a round brush will help spread that thick paint quickly before it dries. I could not find any round brushes at Walmart, but I'm sure you can find them at Lowe's or Hobby Lobby. If you would like to order one I'll link below where I ordered mine

After finishing the crib I think that the outcome was awesome! Spending less than ten bucks and I have an adorable, vintage looking crib

Is the paint safe for babies?! Most of these videos I’ve seen they use paint that’s baby safe from macro baby! So curious of this is a safe cheaper alternative then to that?! Thanks

Now is this safe. Like would it chip away really easy brcause my brother almost died of lead poisoning because my dad painted his crib and he would naw on it... So it makes me so nervous to paint it.

Hi C LeGates! You can seal it with wax, I didnt, but I wasn't too worried about my daughter chewing. Annie Sloan offers an easy to use affordable wax

She shouldn't be painting with the baby in the room. She should have waited until she was asleep opened the window and paint. Her husband should have taken this crib apart and taken it down stairs to the garage and there paint it while the child was asleep.
