    Great Video. You are very meticulous with the way you assembled these carbs. The key to doing anything like this is not to rush and keep it CLEAN. Thank you. Ill be doing mine soon.

    Thank you for your patient explanations of the carbs. This might seem simple to you, but to me, your advice and experience is priceless. I'm new to outboards in general and my brother has just bought a Johnson 60 hp motor. He doesn't have the time to maintain the motor, so your advice is invaluable to me because he asked me to look at the motor and I have the time , but no knowledge of any motors and at 69 yo we don't have much time to learn new stuff lol. You have given me the confidence to follow your instructions and hope that it's successful in it's outcome. Thanks for your instructions.

    Very detailed and informative. The problem I'm having with my 2000 Johnson 115 HP V4 60 deg is that the primer buld never gets hard and I flood my carbs; fuel literally spills out into my air silencer assembly. I believe it's the needle that is worn out and not stopping the fuel when the float bowl is full. Ordering my rebuild kits, gonna do all four. Thanks and great vid!

    I have the 1986 Johnson 60 hp VRO and am considering rebuilding the carbs and replacing all the fuel lines. Which carb kit did you use? Have you got the part number or know how I can get it? Looks like a fun project. Were all your fuel lines connected with zip ties from the factory? I had one leaking fuel line where it was double zip tied and I replaced it with a hose clamp (which I'm minded to do on all fuel line connections (which are zip ties).

    Good basic carb cleaning BUT there is plenty of things not exactly right with this. The reason your top car is so different is because its not the right car for that engine. the plastic top carbs were never fitted to the 1989 engine, they are a later carburettor than 1989. also all three bowls are identical and can be inter changed. the jets in all 3 carb bowls should also be the same identical jet in all 3 of them. And what on earth are you doing using a 1/16th drill bit on the main jet ? either get the exact size piece of wire to fit the jet or dont poke around with it. definitely do nit twist a drill in the jet. it should realy of been taken out, it simply unscrews from the bowl by using the correct size flat head screwdriver. on the middle and bottom carb you didn't mention about taking out the freeze plugs to clean those out too ? a lot of good stuff on this vid but if your going to do it then do it right or no point touching it.

    • @nunyabidness1400
      @nunyabidness1400 8 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      Hi, Phill.
      I never replaced the carbs, I don'[t think the guy who originally bought the engine ever brought it back to the dealer to get new carbs, and I KNOW he did not have the mechanical aptitude to do it himself.
      I did NOT use the 1/16th drill bit to clean out the JET...I used the drill bit to clean out the fuel channel that feeds the jet chamber.
      I am not a "factory trained" outboard motor mechanic...just a mechanically inclined guy who wanted to help by sharing this video. From all of the positive comments I've gotten, I'm going to label it a Success.
