my new favorite guitarist/composer and what do you know, I go to check out his warm up and it's the Rock Discipline warm up! lmfao, I do the same exact warm up, cent now I'll strum them all first. Freakin awesome man, made my day.
With all due Respect to John Petrucci, an amazing guitarist, it couldn't be totally his idea. Anyone that's familiar with Joe Satriani knows that he does warm ups where he does chord inverses up and down the guitar neck.
This type of warm-up/exercise has been in Aaron Sheer's classical guitar technique book(s) for years ... before the Mr. Patrucci's DVD. Maybe where John Petrucci borrowed it from back in the day ... great exercise!
even if hes the main writer of the band, its douchey to call himself the band name. back when they had Mike singing, they were a full band. hes just trying to copy plini
@@mrtalkative91 Aaron has always been "Intervals", it's his name, how is it douchy? It's like Cher, or Madonna, Jesus, or anyone who uses a mononym having their band chime up about not sharing the name haha.
I hope you're just poking fun at that stereotype, and don't actually believe it. After all, it isn't the case for me. What I'm saying is, I have big hands...
Lol I'm pretty sure it's not right but i think the funnist part is that Alonso the dude above your comment thought i was a troll, like people need to understand its a joke though
JP might be a great guitarist, but Dream Theater sucks balls - always has.... so there you go Not as clever as King Crimson or Zappa , and not as much feel as Tool so why bother listening to that. Intervals , Plini and Animals As Leaders on the other hand - they take Prog to a whole new dimension of coolness. All influenced to some degree by Petrucci, but miles ahead in terms of writing with the best of both worlds - mind and heart
"If my memory serves me right..." He knew 100%
That guitar tone is heavenly.
"Once you're feeling cocky or comfortable you can take this and cram it into a space that's a little bit tighter."
Lol
The second and third chord positions from B and second and fourth positions from C are👌
You can also do the same exercise using alternate picking. Sounds really cool if you can do it fast.
I learnt this as one of Joe Satriani's warm up's and technical exercises.
+Deebsy MC grats
ive seen that video you're talking about
this is the Petrucci's Rock Discipline warmup exercise
He mentioned that lol

What he modified? I heard J.P. Rock Discipline warm up only.
+Hermann Guba yes
He said he may have modified it, he wasn't sure or not.
so many people just rehash petruccis dvd warm ups
If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Oh shit I hear it now lol. Pretty close!
Hard !
so now Aaron Marshall IS the band Intervals?
The rest of the band are just session players for recording and touring purposes, not regular band members
Yeah. He always has been .

чувак это я видел у джона петруччи
Aaron is giving off big human shrek vibes
he looks weird without the gap xd
I've seen Joe Satriani do this while talking to people before actually playing.
laughed so heard when he said he didnt have massive hands lol
+Robby McDonald he really doesn't though, have you seen Mark Holcomb's hands? Those things are fucking huge!
+Physis Zero Well its just that he admitted to having a small penis
+Robby McDonald we got a troll here, the funny thing is a guy with a pug picture on his profile, then his penis size must be the same as the dog

Of what benefit are non-musical warm-ups? Sounds like he’s hyperanalyzing a really pretty useless exercise.
youre an idiot
To warm up your fingers and picking hand/fretting hand coordination. It's not a warm up for writing songs, it's a warm up for technique
mrtalkative91 cool.
PatrickFtw I understand that.
so you knew the answer to your question and still asked it anyway?
