Was a crazy up and down season. We have to use multiple overtimes to beat a sorry Auburn team compared to years past plus almost lose to lsu and florida yet we throttled Georgia in sec champ game and ole miss earlier that year.
@@nicholasbarber3644 eww liking your own comments 😬. We had our top defensive player out and a slew of wide receivers. The only UGA touchdown that wasn’t scored by a freshman was the first touchdown by Zamir white. I don’t wanna hear those excuses. Especially from a “Georgia fan”
@@LeskoBrandon2x With those receivers on the field Georgia wasn't even a match for Alabama in Atlanta. Without those receivers it was a 1 score game with 3 minutes to go in the game in Indy and Young and Alabama didn't make the plays to win it and Georgia did. I know it upsets Georgia fans when you point these facts out, just let it go and try not to be so insecure.
@@graciel2313 I can play the same games. I can say that if JT Daniels had been on the field for UGA in the SEC Championship, who happened to be undefeated as a starter for the Dawgs with a 70 % completion , Alabama would have not been a match for UGA. . With Metchie and Williams out of the picture, Alabama had these talented reserves on the bench: Trashon Holden Sophomore 4 star Javon Baker sophomore 4 Star Thaiu Jones Bell sophomore 4 star Ja'Corey Brooks freshman four Star JoJo Earle freshman 4 star Agiye Hall freshman 4 star Christian Leary freshman 4 star Also, this group accumulated 300+ yards of receiving @ 9.8 yards per pass completion in the national championship game against Georgia, but that kind of production can only yield 1 TD. @@graciel2313I guess you could say it counted for Alabama because if they lose, they most probably don't advance to the playoffs. Evidently, it didn't count for Georgia because they lost that day but they advanced to the playoffs, which is a goal of every team in college football. "The" goal of every team is to win the national championship game and that's the game that truly counted, and UGA got the job done.
@@PK1982_ UGA has "got the job done" exactly 1 time in the last 40 years, congrats! Alabama had a decent season even if this wasn't one of their best teams. 2nd in the country, SEC Championship and Heisman is not bad for an "off" year.
@@graciel2313 if you want to have a debate about which program has been most successful historically, that's not really worth getting into. We both know which team has the most national championships.. and the answer is Alabama The issue here is that the past is not always an accurate indicator of what's happening now or what could happen in the future. We can break this down several ways and go any which way you want to go. We can talk about the fact that Alabama had a Heisman winning QB and was pressed to win without two key playmakers in Indianapolis, and they couldn't get the job done and Georgia wins by two scores We can also talk about the fact that Georgia bullied Alabama along the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball, particularly in the 4th quarter. Maybe you can dig into your history books and tell me the last time a Nick Saban team was bullied at the line of scrimmage like that. We can talk about the fact that the Georgia defense pressured Bryce Young 39 times in Indianapolis, which is the most QB pressures given up by an Alabama offensive line since 2014.. We could also talk about the fact that in spite of having a younger team than Georgia, Alabama has seen fit to pound the transfer portal for at least five potential starters, while Kirby has not taken a transfer since the national championship game.. Moving further, we can talk about the fact that Georgia beat Alabama in Indianapolis with a 2* former walk on QB named Stetson Bennett.... I would like to see Nick Saban win a National Championship with Stetson Bennett.. We can also talk about the fact that Alabama lost to a Texas A&M team with a quarterback named Zack Calzada and a bunch of undrafted free agents who all ran 5.0 or slower 40 yard dash times at their Pro Day Camp.. Shall I continue? We can keep this rolling if you want to, just let me know 👍
@@PK1982_ Alabama won the 2009 title with Greg McElroy at QB, he was Stetson Bennett when Stetson Bennett was in the 3rd grade. That argument holds no merit. Alabama's offensive line was bad all year, it's not like Georgia was able to pressure when no one else was. Most teams got pressure on Young but he has a quick release most of the time, if he didn't it would have been more problematic. The FACT remains when Alabama had it's 2 best receivers on the field Georgia and their supposed once in a generation defense was no match. We saw this on the field that day in Atlanta. Saban going the transfer portal route is up to him, maybe he felt he needed certain spots filled and he filled them or gave more depth. He didn't just take anybody by the way, he took some of the best players available.
