I am so tired of fandom crying about Maria and acting entitled to her voting for Charlie when its not our place to declare whose vote should go to who. Like there is all this emphasis of Maria being a sore loser but the reality is this fandom has become the biggest sore loser if anything. They want to say shes bitter when its like 'no youre bitter over a results of a tv show you have no control over'! Maria said her truth and if people 'dont want to make sense' out of it, then that is seriously their problem. And others want to blame fire-making being the 'problem' but its like what are you going to change about that? We saw that Charlie didnt want to make fire so that actually completely backfired on him.
Ugh but anyways not take away from your podcast Brice! Thank you for your videos and another great season despite all its chaos and madness and an obviously disgruntled fandom!
Nobody cared that Charlie did not make fire and Kenzie should have been punished for Jeff almost having to give them matches. Charlie had the social game with Ben to be able to be brought to the ehd without risking fire. Everyone knows Maria only voted for Kenzie because she was bitter and jealous that she was not sitting in Charlie's seat. We are allowed to talk about votes that make zero sense.

I liked that Brice mentioned the mental health issue with Ben. One of the things I liked most about him (sweet person) was him talking about his struggle with mental health and being emotional and open about it. And I think it's great to see men talking about mental health (it needs to be discussed more) and being emotional.
Anyway, one of the best things about Survivor is this pod. Great job as always guys. I'll miss Survivor News.
I hope you guys do interviews with some of the cast. And I hope to see Brice doing another Issa look with Rob.
Question: don’t you think that Survivor should try to do a better job on clearing out ppl with Mental Health? What if this actually has worse consequences on a Ben contestant. I’m uncomfortable with casting of people with mental health. But for Kenzie and Charlie, this season could have been traumatic, bc Ben can’t help his condition.
I feel like you can be supportive of the winner and still be disappointed in how Charlie lost. Kenzie is a solid winner, but Charlie losing the way he did is brutal. It's less about the fact that Maria voted for Kenzie and more that her reasoning for doing it is very lackluster and doesn't make much sense. She was bitter. It's as simple as that. Maria is shown to have an ego, and she went into FTC with the mentality that "if I can't win, you can't win either" towards Charlie. I mean she's a juror so she can vote how she wants, but I'm not buying that whole fire in her eyes crap

It’s also just the fact charlie didnt wrong her some type of way to deserve it. Like ive always said bitter jury members are part of the game. I still believe that. But usually ya know they have an understandable reason like with russell or with boston rob. Charlie was her best friend out there and she just decided to rob him bc she didn’t want him to win off their alliance if she wasnt going to win. Just a jerk for no reason move.

@@StarLord1994 THIS! If Charlie had done a single thing to mismanage Maria as a juror, we could at least reason that Charlie could have done better. But how could any human have done a better job? She voted him out (because he was the biggest threat to win the game outside of herself - in her mind) and he was kind and supportive to her afterwards. Maria was literally holding Charlie's hand for emotional support while she got voted out. He did nothing but be a great ally and friend to her until it was time to make the right move and cut her (as she had tried to do him). Charlie had a great social game and was as well liked as Kenzie. That is why people saying it was a social vs strategic vote are incorrect and have just been forcefed an edit that Ben has exposed as manipulative. Ben said he was never closer to Kenzie and that Charlie & Liz helped him with his panic attacks as much as Kenzie did. But the edit only showed Kenzie helping...as if everyone else just sept through his night terrors! Ben was shocked that the edit erased his bond with Charlie post merge. They showed it premerge and then just pretended it vanished. The edit is there to suport why the ultimate winner won. It is not an accurate portrayal of every single game.

Iconic moment when Liz helped Kenzie.. HOWEVER.. It's called an INDIVIDUAL immunity challenge.. NOT TEAM CHALLENGE... So i HOPE they clear up that rule. Also Maria was my pick from day one and I think she would have won if Jeff stopped Liz.. even if she didnt win the final immunity challenge, put her on fire even at final four and she would of held it together. I picked Maria because she's a full package but she def had some character flaws that rubbed me the wrong way near the end. Ultimately, very entertaining season!! Loved this chat!
What a way to end the season!! Not the winner I was expecting, but for sure the winner the jury selected so congrats Kenzie.
Brice, Wen and Jack - you guys did amazing this season and always found a way to make me see a different aspect, even through the laughs!
Loved how my Baby Boy Jackary was not tryna feel a different possibility about Liz! He will not gladly watch another season lol. Keep up the great work next season fellas. And of course with anything you guys drop in the meantime. 💜💙💙😊

I don't think anyone was arguing that you can't change your mind. The way Maria switched up was just funny. Of course she could change her mind, but it was a weird switch up. And ppl are also allowed to be annoyed by that

The juries refusal to even LISTEN to Ben or Charlie’s game and Kenzie not really having any moves anyways negates the whole swayed argument because Ben and Charlie were never given a fair shake. The 30 second timer and insistence on no song quotes was toxic behavior.
But 2 people changed their votes to Charlie so they were listening
Ben arguable had a more dominate strategic game then Kenzie did. He was on the right side every vote, and she was not. They should not have froze Ben out.

There needs to be some kind of more organized method for choosing the right winner that allows each contestant to truly speak their game. The current format is outdated and it's not fair. The jury should shut up and listen, they're lucky to have questions. Juries don't speak in real life.
I think they should have to write the questions down and submit them individually like votes and only talk freely after the finalists answer everything with ample time.
There should be no room for cutting off a finalist from answering without a Judge knocking a gavel and yelling order in the court. So I agree with the notion that Jeff needs to control this mayhem a lot more.
@@maskcollector6949 We only see a little bit of ftc though. Charlie said he had more time to explain his game thoroughly so I don't think that's the problem. He simply made the mistake of going to the end with the wrong person. There's this idea in the new era that gameplay is king and it's a misconception. The difference between Koah Rong and 46 is that in Koah Rong they tried to get Michele out because they knew she had friends on the jury and was extremely likable. For some reason the new era players think Survivor has changed but it hasn't. Likable people with friends on the jury will always be a threat you have to take out.
I dont blame liz at all for helping kenzie. I would too if allowed. I blame jeff for allowing it…

Maria's wack vote has overshadowed the results. Kenzie is a deserving winner, but we can't help but focus on Maria's bitterness.

Maria thought Charlie was her scrubby sidekick. The Robin to her Batman, then finds out during the finale that he's the Riddler, Joker, and Catwoman. Like Batman, Maria struggles to do the right thing (see paper, rocks, scissors gate) so of course she votes for Commissioner Gordon (hardworking Kenzie).😂😂
If I ever get to the FTC I am going to say I am dying of cancer and I need a million dollars to buy the secret cure 😅

First of all the finale party was so much fun. That said I had a fun argument with people about Liz cheating in the challenge and yes I’m calling it cheating. I don’t think that should have been allowed at all especially at final 5. If Liz had just focused on her puzzle who knows who would have won. It could have been anyone’s game. It could have taken Maria a while to figure out what to do Kenzie could have figured it out on her own but again we will never know. I think that just took away a lot from what I like about challenges. I want to see people win on their own. I don’t know i probably wouldn’t have voted for Kenzie simply bc she couldn’t figure out a challenge on her own. I think they really need to fix this moving forward. As someone said could Charlie have just leaned over and destroyed Kenzie’s puzzle so he could win like where do they draw the line.
my only real thought is just that i'm so glad ben didn't have to make the decision between maria and charlie considering the mental/physical condition he was in; asides from that i am/would have been happy with any winner! i think any result that makes me happy or that i think is hilarious is a winner i'm content with.
i commented something similar on another podcast but since this is the finale i just wanted to reiterate how much i appreciated as a new survivor fan all your guys' great commentary and also context ! i hope next time you're in the nyc area i can come along as i heard so many great things about your events !
Charlie is undoubtedly a mastermind and we know all too well that he would have been a great winner too. We were all enchanted with his game and could really appreciate his style. The blank space for the million didn’t have his name on it, but at least he got to experience his wildest dreams by playing Survivor. He played a delicate end game, and his only blindspot is that he should have known Maria was trouble when she walked in.
But as far as Kenzie winning, the social butterfly winning the game after so many players were concerned with making big and flashy moves at the expense of their games was the perfect ending to 46. This season watched like a parody of the big moves era. We have another hair stylist from a disaster purple tribe becoming Sole Survivor two spring seasons in a row. We are definitely in a lavender haze.
Oh and to all the people who keep spouting the Maria hate: you need to calm down.
Jack is literally me after I watched the episode. Out of all the jury votes in survivor history this is the worst to me. Because atleast all the other ones had game reasons behind them. Even with bitter juries I may not always like the outcome. I always respect them because its a direct response to actions in the game.
But I don't even know what to call this jury. Like jack said I understand tiffany and venus voting for venus. But Correct me if Im wrong but the only reasons that I've heard from q and maria as for their votes is what they are going to do with the money and "I saw a fire in her eyes when she was making fire" which makes total sense since it took an hour for kenzie to make fire (sarcasm).
Their reasons for awarding someone the title of sole survivor is just dumb. And imo antithetical to the game of survivor. I understand that they are humans and of course that is going to play a part in their decision. But Whats the point of even having a game if thats your entire basis for voting
When it comes to maria I would respect her so much more if she was open and said I do not want to vote for Charlie because he was the reason for me getting voted out. Listen I don't think personally harrasing q or maria is okay at all. But I think the survivor community has the right like me to be upset about this. And maybe shame is a strong word but shame these contestants so that this does not set a precedent for the future
Exactly, it feels like Charlie lost because of a bitter jury despite the fact that it appeared he had an extremely strong social game and didn’t really do anything to warrant bitterness

Amazing podcast!!! Imo to what yall were talking about lowering your threat level is that it has to have a balance, you have to be middle of the road and because the cast is very diverse that looks different for every person. You also as a player have to have the ability to realize whats other people's perception of you and your game and start there beacause Charlie from what we have seen that Kenzie said in confessionals was perceived as Maria´s jester so maybe he should have made a "bigger move". To that point to tho maybe it goes to what Rob Cesternino said in rhap about people that have it or people that need to make a move when it comes to the end
Nobody but Kenzie said that about Charlie. It is all editing because Kenzie won in the end and they need to try to have the fans not revolt! Charlie created th relationship with Maria. Charlie got Maria to turn on her alliance with the women, putting himself in the driver's seat. Charlie turned on Maria ta the right time and it was his idea. He can't help it that she won immunities at 7 & 6. Charlie did get the better of Maria. He blindsided Maria by taking out Q and then he took out Maria. He kept Maria for just the right amount time to keep her as a sheild. RHAP always kisses ass b/c they do not want to piss off anyone in the Survivor community. Nobody saw Kenzie as a threat and she was out of the loop. Tiffany poisined the jury and Maria was a bitter Betty. That is all there is.
i think women, especially maybe smaller women (such as erika, kenzie and dee), anticipate that they won't be taken as seriously in the end and they prepare better to impress the jury.
If we’re just awarding people the million based on how much they need the money, then we don’t need to play the game. They can just pitch their story and we can give them money.
Also I think Maria came in there knowing she wasn’t voting for Charlie. 😬

Kenzie is a fair winner but it’s just like c’mon. Charlie played the best game of the new era and got robbed. Why the jury let Tiff speak more than once was ridiculous, she was given way too much leeway. They did a horrible job of managing jury biases as a whole, it’s not just Maria. It was so bad people think Jeff should have stepped in.
Why is Maria the only one getting "hate" because if Charlie played such a great game (not saying he did or didn't) and built all these great relationships it should have been a no brainer for most of the jury to vote Charlie. Also, i know this is a different game, but i love how important jury management is on Big Brother, and it needs to be important on survivor as well, not just to expect my vote because we were allies.

For the Maria skeptics, if you think she was so bitter and emotional, then why was she not bitter against the person (Kenzie) who tagged teamed with another player to beat her in the immunity challenge?? Believe Maria when she tells you she was inspired by Kenzie, not bitter against Charlie.
Also Maria has showed us all season how she does not make emo decisions and keeps her cards close to her chest so why would you think now that she’s lying about being salty and made a bitter choice just to make Charlie suffer. That’s projection.

By your own false excuse that Maria never makes emo decisions, she would not be moved by an emotional plea by Kenzie about her hair salon when she knew charlie was the far better player.

Charlie's situation reminds me a bit of Xander's. Everyone was surprised that Xander received 0 votes in the end, but the contestants from his season said that the way the public saw Xander was not the way they saw him.
I always found it curious that Charlie was great at challenges and had a good relationship with everyone, yet he was never targeted. Kenzie even compared him to a dog. I think he stayed too much in the shadows and didn't manage to stand out. I even think he was going to get fewer votes, and it was his performance with the jury that managed to get him more.
I liked Kenzie's win. Well deserved. Her social game was brilliant. And her win showed that Survivor isn't just about big moves.
Very valid points - it’s a delicate balance and a tough pill to swallow when we see amazing gameplay as a viewer, but the jury obviously doesn’t see everything we do and that obviously leaves them with a different conclusion on how people played
Agreed! Also, we know that Survivor has a tendency to overshow the game of certain characters. But undershow others (re: Erika in 41).

Season 45 features Heidi as the final contestant to win immunity, effortlessly mastering the fire-starting challenge.
I get the social game is a huge part of the game but I hate Charlie lost two votes and ultimately the “game” bc of something unrelated to the game.

I disagree. They played the game together. She got as far as she got because of him and he got as far as he did because of her. It's simply not right. This game used to be played and a winner was based on game play. Social was apart of it but not the decision maker. If we are going to award the money to the person most popular or the one with the most hard luck story than what's the point. Why bother playing the game. I think Maria thought she was the leader and Charlie was her dog and when he got her she got pissed. It showed that she wasn't the Mastermind she thought she was. Just my opinion. I like Kenzie and I'm not mad that she one I just think Charlie played a better game
I agree that Charlie played a better game, and I also like Kenzie. Everything you say could be completely valid, but at the end of the day the Jury decides the winner. Every jury is comprised of different ppl making it different each time…. Every single person decides their vote for their own reasoning. There are no rules that state you HAVE to vote for the person you think played the best game lol, sometimes me really liking you and your story is enough , and that’s okay. Charlie may have played the better game, but he simply didn’t do what he needed to get the jury votes to win, and that’s just that unfortunately.
If we force every juror to vote the same way with the same mindset every season what’s the point then

I respect your point of view but I'm having a hard time understanding why people in reality TV can't just play the game and award good game play. That's all I'm saying. I can't imagine being out there going through the hell they are going through. I'm too lazy for that and I respect anyone who gives it a try.
She doesn't. It's not by force, that she has to vote for him. Honestly, as close as they were, Q ultimately became her number 1 and not in the Dee vein where she had two number 1s lol.
To secure his spot Charlie should have worked to get Kenizie out. He also should have argued his case more about why he deserves it more than a Kenize when she made it. That was his biggest competition from a game and jury management perspective
Are these all Taylor Swift fans on the Maria hate train? GTFOH. Maria was cheated out of a win. Charlie had a chance to plead his case. He played a better game than Kenzie. How is she more a solid winner than someone like Maria? I more pissed that Maria wasn’t given a chance than I am that Charlie was given a chance and didn’t win. Charlie will make plenty of money as an attorney,so yes, youth can be a factor in people’s decisions but youth is always on your side. And do you really think Charlie won’t be invited back to play? Charlie will have plenty of opportunities to make millions. Not so for an older Lebanese woman in America. I can totally see how she and Q felt that Kenzie was worthy of the money, which has nothing to do with gameplay but everything to do with the game.
The Liz and Kenzie situation was unfair because you should not be able to physically help someone during an individual immunity challenge without them doing any of the work for ALL sections of the challenge…now if the rules change in future seasons it will be because they see it as unethical which will prove our points

They cheated Maria. Liz coulda just stage whispered "Go get the board!" You don't get to phone a friend in Survivor.
I love Survivor. Prom Queen bears nerd. Mermaid Dragon prevails. This season had all the types. Loved Liz, Loved Q. Let Maria take some heat, but salute her for voting who she wanted like everyone else did.
The coddling of Charlie in the Survior community is very bizarre. There is only one winner, and most players are voted out by people they trust. This situation is no different. His sense of entitlement to anyone's vote is jarring, and if your chance at winning depends on a tie and a revote, then your win equity isn't very strong. This isn't a critique of his game; many great players don't win or even make it to the top three.
Unfortunately, the jurors perceived him as Maria's puppet. Although this isn't true, he didn't do enough during the game and tribal council to prove otherwise. By not taking credit and hiding his moves during the game, he ultimately hurt himself. This, combined with his passive responses during the tribal council, worked against him. He also should have gotten Kenzie out during the game.
Instead of owning that he is on a tour focusing on Maria. I also can't help but look at this from a socio-cultural perspective--Maria, an older woman of color and immigrant, being berated for her vote and being called bitter. She doesnt have to explain her vote to the mob after the explained it once. The vitriol is too much. Its giving the same energy some had defending Xander. But this energy is always protecting a certain archetype of player.

Of course Maria had permission to cha ge her mind but she should've stayed loyal. Speaking of emotions. Were emotions in her relationship with Charlie and what they build as a friendship outside of the game. She gave him her word. Also....Maria was not "moved " by Kenzie's speech. She did not raise her hand when the question was asked who changed their mind in F3. She was bitter and regretted her vote as she told Charlie after they got back home. She was hunted by her decission ever since and build up in her head an argument to present it now in the exit press to look good. And this is what confused Charlie the most...all her actions in the last few days. Watch on his exit interviews (expecially Nerdtateiment) where he explained this whole dynamic. He left it be..they met outside of the game. He met her kids, she visit Boston. But thos week changed everything. Not to mentioned that if it was a tie, Ben would've voted Charlie. Plus.....the edit did not showed how Charlie was there for Ben just as much as Kenzoe was. And what will you do with the money should not be allowed as a question at F3. Where I feel bad for Maria was the gang against her at the F5 challange. That did not seem correct

Liz was 100% serious on RHAP about faking the millionaire thing. She is accusing the editors of not showing her confessionals about her great startegy. It is so confusing!

Kenzie was a great winner, I think her final tribal performance was better than Charlie. I also believe Maria was bitter. Fans of the show are allowed to be mad & critic her for that. That isn’t just reserved for people who have actually been on the show, with that said, the personal attacks being directed at her are uncalled for.
It worked out as it should have worked Kenzie needed the money. Maria is a doctor and showed everyone that anyone can be angry and seek revenge. Lie about it afterwards but we saw her face. Charlie attends Harvard Law School so being on survivor will open doors.
i'm on the maria hate train if she wanted a woman to win why was she always looking to vote one out. and the only man she championed to get out was charlie
Why do you hate Maria? Do you know her? Did she personally do something to you in your life? I really am annoyed with this nonsense. It’s a reality game show. She can do whatever she wants with her vote. Do I think Charlie should have won yes. Am I going to attack someone that I don’t know bc of a vote no. This mentality of let’s hate people we don’t know is absolutely mind boggling to me. I think what is happening to Maria on line is disgusting and people should be ashamed of themselves.

Well it’s the word hate that I have issue with. She is literally getting death threats and people are saying they hate her. I don’t understand how people can hate someone they don’t know it’s ridiculous to me. It’s such a strong word to use for someone that has no actual effect on your life. The stuff that is being thrown at her is beyond disturbing.

I am not against a woman voting for another woman FYI but say…that. Maria LIED to Charlie who she was in an alliance when she promised her vote if he got to the end demonstrating that her ideology is worth more than whatever his friendship represented post 46. Now Maria is trying to clean it up afterwards? My response would be…get bent (if I were Charlie)

I just find Kenzie so much more likeable than Charlie. He is lovely and all but they made half of his personality in the edit liking a celebrity. And his game was meh. At best. It certainly wasn't some overly impressive showing. So voting for the more likeable, personable person, seems obvious to me. Maria in particular though was bitterness but that is the game. That's why there is a jury. Still comes down to Charlie being unable to counteract that bitterness. Or maybe she actually respected Kenzie's game. Personally can't help but see the misogyny at play in the idea that she could not possibly have voted for her for anything other than bitterness.

The concept of not talking politics is interesting. Literally everything is politics. The word has been dwiddled down to the spectacle that it is in media and the theatrics of Dems vs Repubs. Doesn't change the fact that my ability to even comment here is "politics".
I think the polarizing and combative nature of politics is so negative to society and human connection that I prefer to stay away from it pretty much entirely

Liz was by far the worst character on survivor! She’s so entitled and selfish. She only cares about yourself, and what she needs in that moment she’s honestly so delusional don’t know how she got to be a part of the cast…. I want to q to win, but don’t mind Kenzi or Charlie
