Best filming I have seen so far, having being brought up in the 50's my childhood memories of looking out for steam trains on nearby tracks on my cycling adventures as a kid, watching this I could almost smell those engines steaming thru my laptop screen FABULOUS
Magnificent. The start is like looking at three eagles sat high in a tree waiting to go off for their prey. I know humans give humans a fair bit of stick, but those machines are superbly impressive.
Excellent video, all superb locos. I was fortunate to have a footplate experience on B1 61264 in 2019 travelling from Pickering to Grosmont and return. It was a wonderful journey.
There is a core of preservationists in the U. S., some very important and interesting stock has been preserved, some returned to the rails. One of the things I like about Germany, Germans can be rabid steam fans, and steam preservation is alive and well here.
America could do a mechanical overhaul on ‘Dwight D Eisenhower’. There is a few rich Americans/Canadians who get classic British aircraft working, hopefully one day someone will do the same with the Eisenhower or Canada. But if you do, don’t dare beat Mallard’s speed record! 😃
Wonderfull to see...but rather sad as well. I'm so glad that Sir Nigel Gresley has been restored and is now undergoing testing on the SVR👍 Sadly we seem to have lost Union of South Africa for the forseeable future....it'll be stuck in a barn in Scottish field somewhere😒 That's no way to treat what should be regarded a Naional treasure! They should all be restored and out working so people can smell hear and appreciate the raw power and understand what they are really about! Static Displays?? Nah🤔
As a Southern Man, I must say this is, without a doubt the best steam video I have seen! Ah! Bullied came from the same stable, and was born in Winton, Southland, NZ. I live at the top of the S. Island, Winton is near the bottom. Love those A4's, saw number 9 at Llandudno Junction in 2014.
Nice video great camera work as usual as always I am really enjoying your lovely videos and camera work keep your lovely camera work up I am really looking forward to seeing your next video I hope you get a nice video next time also when is your next video going to be on TH-cam nice to see 3 a4s together bye for now Philip
hermosas locomotoras, hermosos tenes, bellísimos paisajes... que maravilla. cómo me gustaría estar allí. gracias por compartir. abrazos desde Argentina
Tragic that the V2 is not in steam. If NRM can waste £6million and 10 years failing to recommission the Scotsman, they could surely spend the money to have a new monobloc made.
Some really cool looking great sounding trains there ,, i luv em ta bis ,, so are the stained wooden passenger carriages the nigel gresley teak carriages ? If anyone knows could they let me know please as that would be great.. Thanks for tbe awesome videos. Cheers from John in Australia.
Can someone explain to a less-knowledgeable person (i.e. me) who's trying to learn a bit more about how steam locos work - when the V2 comes to a stand at around 7:20, why does the exhaust from the chimney suddenly turn black? I saw a comment that a cord was pulled so I assume this was an emergency stop. So is the black smoke appearing mainly because the steam would have been immediately shut off from the cylinders, leaving just the exhaust from the fire coming out of the chimney? And if this is the case, why doesn't black smoke happen every time a loco comes to a stop? Or if it's something completely different, can someone explain? thanks!
While it's nice to see them all running, it's a shame they are forced to run so slowly on preserved lines. The A4s in particular don't like running that slow, it is better for them to run at mainline speeds.
I know what you mean, me, my 4 year old (A4s are his favourite), my Mum went to Nene Valley for Easter when S.N.G visited, he wanted to go, but there's a 25mph limit on the line, he's Mainline certified though and has done a railtour last year.
Love the show of the A4s out in the rain and then seeing the V2. Sad that Green Arrow will never run again. The V2s were in my opinion Gresley finest in looks and sound. They had a very lopsided syncopated beat that the A3s never had.
@Cazkumali I haven't heard that but I hope you are correct. I believe it has a vast mono lock set of cylinders that has cracked so need a new one I think the cost would be very high.
Sorry for my ignorance, but why at 7.23 and on...is the loco spewing out so much really heavy black soot issue? And then returns, whilst under load, to a nice clean chimney discharge! Is it some sort of a firebox? clear out? White is, I assume, essentially steam? Grey a mix of steam and soot...but that black!!! It could ruin your washing you’d just put out!? Cheers
Bittern is awaiting for an overhaul, so she’s currently part of the 1:1 hornby collection in Margate and 60009 has been permanently withdrawn from traffic. Her owner, John Cameron, has planned for a museum for both his engines to be built on his farm..
Good footage from 2008 considering that most people where still using either hi8 or digital8 tape camcorders at the time, and the days before Smartphones and HD cameras with 1920x1080p resolution where popular, expensive they would've been. I'm guessing this wasn't recorded on some consumer grade camera. If only we public could get that close to those engines. I can't even go to my nearest railway bridge to watch the trains pass under because the friggin control freak council have made the bridges (everyone of em) at an height of about 2 meters so you can't see over, the excuse being due to electrified lines below which is just nonsense IMO.
I heard it needs a new boiler certificate but the owner has said enough is enough,he's already paid for 2 (every 10 years ? ) I stand to be corrected though
@@stevenpryce7808”John Cameron had announced that all his railway engines (60009 “Union of South Africa” and 3442 “The Great Marquess”) would be permanently withdrawn in 2019 and placed in a museum he was planning to build on his farm. Later, because of that locomotive's good condition, he decided that Union of South Africa would continue running through until January 2022 on the East Lancashire Railway. However in October 2021, cracks were discovered in the boiler and it was decided not to attempt repairs.” Original source: Wikipedia
That shot beginning at 7:23 is like a living oil painting. Absolutely incredible.
its surreal ..
Stunning photography. Really captured the ambiance
I never saw any ambulances 😳😳oh wait ,what a handsome nincompoop I am 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Love the A4s. Something 'art-deco' about their style.....and they look fast. Beautifully photographed.
The sound of the A4 chime whistle echoing through the Esk Valley is a sound I'll never tire of

Just fantastic that the British have kept this history alive for all to enjoy sadly in North America not the same. Great work indeed enjoyed it.

I drove through Pennsylvania to visit my US relatives, we passed a sign for a steam railway. Didn't stop though.
Dwight would be better off being sent home back to us in the uk@@spankflaps1365

Fantastic shots, I was also once at this route in 2000 👍👍👍
What a fabulous view of 3 iron horses! All steaming n ready to go!
How splendid an A4 looks en face!
I was working the shed that day. Much as I love the A4's (and especially no.7) the V2 is my all time favourite.
The V-2 is *my* favourite as well. Great to see "Green Arrow" in steam. In its mainline steam days, it put in some wonderful performances.
The colour’s just perfect
Looked like a day at Doncaster sheds cica 1960 !
Thank You for that Fantastic Footage.

I love the beat of those 3 cylinder locos.
Great footage thank you for sharing

Glorious.
Magnificent locomotives.
pure bliss
I just can't believe that V2 stalled on the bank.!
Don't think it stalled. A fence has collapsed on the road on approach to mpd and the wire got entangled in the coaches. The guard stopped the train.
Best thing off the gala was 61264 on the goods

Is that the same rolling stock that was vanderlised ,beautiful bow ended stock.
It is the same rolling stock
Why did green arrow stop and blow the safety valve for so long?
Looks very good :)
How come Union of South Africa has a color of BR green that is unique
7:34 she wasn't having none of it😯 must of been a heavy train
Also such a shame that all (bar SNG) is not in steam now
It was a pulled communication chord that forced the stop. She backed up, sanding, and restarted with ese.
Where is the Fat Controller ?
I know Gresley has been restored to steam what's the situation with union of South Africa and bittern are they still steaming or sitting somewhere?

I love seeing fans leaning out for the view in Britain and Germany. U. S. "YOU'RE GOING TO PUT YOUR EYE OUT, KID!!!"
What does yopur mean?
