I was at the show they recorded the live version at they just released IT WAS SO GOOD
Eurovision is not a talent show like AGT, it is a competition where one song competes for each participating country and a jury and televoting decides the winner. It's kind of a big thing every year but at the same time pretty trashy. When Electric Callboy wanted to compete for Germany in 2022, they weren't allowed to because the people from German TV thought that their music wasn't "suitable for radio".
The whole thing went pretty viral and was one of the reasons why EC suddenly became so famous all over the world.

@@johncrwarner I am from Sweden so, Schlager music is something I have grown up with, allways kind of made up music and boring, it is an older version of music compitision, but, really no one really likes the music cause it is so made up for the show imo. I would looove though a show with real good musichans and they compete, that is a show I would watch.
@@rivdottir And for many Germans, hating Schlager goes beyond the music, it's almost a cultural thing. Most Germans can only listen to Schlager ironically or when they are drunk. People who really like Schlager often correspond to everything that makes an uptight person who thinks metal music is dangerous for you.
And that's the reason why I really love Hurrikan 😂
@@E_Die Yeah. It is like a thing u do look at with your family and pretend it is good music.. fun as a kid but not as an adult, cause it feels like so fake. But for a few artists, I love Loreen 😅.. even if I am a metal music kind of person.

The song/video "HURRIKAN" is a short one, but it hits very different! A must see ... just like the late "Everytime We Touch", which is a cover song but has the most amazing video the boys made so far ... and it's a very catchy banger! It will stuck in your head for ever and ever ... ;) Give it a try!
Fun fact... They were denied a spot in Eurovision so they wrote Hurrikan as a big f*** you. It's short but awesome.
Also, definitely check out live concert footage. They're fantastic live.
This is the first single from the current album, Tekkno. The song came out Sep 2021, the album was released Sep 2022. The band name was changed to Electric Callboy in between, March 2022. Pump It (Dec 2021) was the last song released under the old name.
The first song released with the new name is the 3rd single , Spaceman.

I think you guys would really dig "Fckboi" featuring Conquer Divide. It's super tight 00's pop-punk in a duel-of-the-bands style. It's amazing!

The name change was finalized early in March of 2022.
Eurovision Song Contest started in 1954. Participating countrys send an artist with a song. Originally it had to be a new song that hadn't been released prior to the countrys pre-selection, nowadays, the first release must not be longer than half a year ago. The winner get's chosen by a jury and/ or tele-voting (several changes over the years). EC applied for 2022 with Pump It! (and We Got The Moves as second option). The German broadcaster/ organizer voted to not let them into the pre-selection competition, as they had decided to promote the participating artists through their radio programms and found EC to be not "radio-friendly". The backlash on social media was INSANE! EC's response video (kind of part 1):

Maybe someone mentioned it, but after Hypa Hypa became successful they had some other German bands cover it (nobody was touring because of the Rona) and the best one by far is " WBTBWB vs. Electric Callboy - Hypa Hypa (OFFICIAL VIDEO)". You will not regret checking it out, I promise :)

I just saw them last week in Minneapolis. It was the the most energetic and fun show I've ever been to. The crowd was absolutely electric. (unintentional pun there)

You really should check out the live version of this in Toronto.
They pretty much build/create everything set wise for their videos as i guess Germany just doesn't have much for studios and prop type stuff. One of the band members (a guitarist I think) and his brother produces/directs them. Can you imagine having to go around to find like 40 bowl cut wigs though 😂.
Nah we have Studios and Prop makers here in Germany ( even marked leading quality ) but as often in germany we produce more then we work with it. Still the marked is there. Yet ( and I absolutly understand the EC boys ) they like the creative freedom that comes with doing everything themselves. It's a whole different world between making something yourself and exactly how you have envisioned it and having something made for you based on what the other person thought you wanted to get
They bring the costumes to stage… check out the official live videos. Next I suggest: Hurrikan, Hate/Love, every time we touch, tekkno train, mc thunder 1 and 2, space man… in that order. If you want a completely different sound Fuckboi (more of a radio song) and Castrop Spandau (german)

Eurovision is like an annual Vocal European Olympics for trashy songs/performances. Winner hosts next contest. Lots of hype for months building up to Eurovision.
As you love this humour, you should check out an equally hilarious, slightly more sophisticated Metal band from Italy - NanowaR of Steel try "Uranus", "Valhallujah", Norweigan Reggaeton,", or "Barbie, Princess of Twilight".

Electric Callboy tried out for the Germany entry for Eurovision for 2022 with Pump It - but didn't make it through. Lord of the Lost got through with Blood and Glitter.

"Eurovision, yeah i think it's kind of like Europe's answer to America's got talent, i might be wrong", why yes.. yes you could not be more wrong than that lol.
"Got Talent" first of all, is not American, it's British, second of all, Eurovision is the oldest and biggest song contest in the world and had it's first edition in 1956, it was partly meant to bring nations together again after all what happened in the 40's. (the show has an average view-count between 150 and 162 million viewers each year)
Now no worries, Eurovision is very European, like.. EXTREMELY European hehehe, so the lack of knowledge on it outside the Eurozone (and affiliated nations like Israel and Australia) is quite understandable, so there is little media coverage in the non-affiliated nations like the USA. (that and the fact that the USA lives in a bubble where outside influence in music is very low)
On the show itself, Eurovision is .... weird, let's just be honest, it's weird AF, but it's also very addictive for it's weirdness, it combines camp, glamor, and talent and rolls it into a weird mix of way over the top and perfect production.
So.. you might be watching 15 Russian grannies singing about baking bread, followed by a guy who wears 500 mirrors and sing so high pitched that you wonder why the mirrors don't break, followed by a truly beautiful ballad or kickass rock song, the sky is the limit. (usually the more serious songs win, but sometimes.. a chicken song wins.. that's Europe for ya ;) )
There are plenty of compilations of Eurovision acts on here, and i think you guys would get a kick out of some of the weirdness you can find there.
And yes.. Germany should send Electric Callboy next time, they might win it.
