Awesome! Spoken like a pro! 🥰 Who else has experienced thriftstore stalkers? It's happened to me a number of times...ladies who actually follow me around because they noticed that I had a good eye...they don't chat me or anything but just hoover, waiting to pounce on whatever I put down. ...and actually buy the stuff! 🤷🏽 I find it amusing and even flattering...glad to be of service...some people just feel lost in such places😂
I’m a 20+ years thrifter.I’ve had the privilege of doing it nationwide and now I’m ready to become an International thrifter❤ I always check thrift stores, resale consignment stores, antique shops, as well as occasional garage sales and church rummage sales. I enjoy the history I learned from shop owners, finding items at garage sales I missed purchasing in stores! I love wearing clothes and making them smile on me 😊 I get to meet people from all walks of life and sometimes I meet a new friend!!! Thanks for making these videos. I’m looking forward to part 2
I have been a thrifter for a couple of decades and have loved it! I thrift shoes that are new and I love consignment stores because they are usually more particular about items they accept. Thank you so much for this and looking for more ❤😊
Just went thrifting today with my adult daughter, son and 12 y.o. granddaughter. We all found fabulous pieces at great prices. We had a lot of laughs! It's good to know I trained my kids to express themselves authentically, creatively and economically! You inspired me...today I found a Whitney Houston T-shirt "I'm Every Woman" and I love it! Thanks for giving us such great fashion ideas.
Thanks for sharing your tips Brenda. I'm in my late 50's and have been thrifting since I was a kid. I generally thrift with intent, looking for specific items (clothes, art, frames, jewelry, accessories, and furniture). But I've been known to find great deals and go crazy - I've stopped doing that. Now, if it's an item that I don't absolutely love or that doesn't fit an obvious hole in my wardrobe, I'll pass. As far as dry cleaning - I've learned what items don't really need to be dry cleaned but can be washed in cold water on the gentle cycle and hung up to dry. So I'll still buy some items that say dry clean only when I know I can wash it, except for coats and blazers. I'll dry clean those. Thanks again for your tips!
I've learned to shop not necessarily by size. I can alter "finds" to fit. This week, I found a new with tags vintage anthropologie summer dress that will complete a look I have in mind. The color caught my eye. I passed up a long faux vest that I regret leaving. It was dingy white, went home without it, and thought, "dye it." I went back the next morning. It was gone. Oh well, someone else's gain.
My best most recent thrift store find (about 2 years ago) is a black lambskin car coat, Ellen Tracy for Kriegsman Furs, brand new condition, for $8.50. It feels like butter!
Also, you could go to the churches sometimes they have thrift stores in the church or like giving away free clothes to the community so that's another opportunity for you to catch some gyms❤
I always : *Keep my hands free. *Carry Sanitizer. *Wear Tights so I can slip Pants on. *Distract others by looking at the tackiest things...then dashing over to the more amazing things while they are side-tracked.😂 *Hide stuff until the next Thrifting day . *Act non-chalant when asking the Price, don't look to excited to purchase. Finally, bless the Items before wearing/using . 😅👌
A little advice from 30+ year thrifter to the new people I see coming to the stores: - *put stuff back where you found it. *if you make a garment fall off the hanger, pick it up. *Take your hangers off your clothes while standing in line. There’s generally a rack near the registers for use. Speed things up! *Do not eat in the store. Even though they have carts with cup holders, the carts are donated or bought at liquidation sales! They were intended for use in grocery stores, not clothing stores! Be respectful! *Most importantly, Don’t talk loud! Nobody wants to hear you talking across the store to your cousin or homegirl!
Yup... I was startled and shocked when just yesterday, someone posted on Instagram that their local Goodwill has discontinued color tag of the week, and senior and military discounts effective 1/1/2025. I was thinking to myself, I hope that's not going to be the fate of all the Goodwill stores AND people should just stop shopping and donating items to that store.
@@lkofie6670That’s not good. They have raised prices and now want to eliminate discounts? When they get everything for free and they don’t offer any services… 😒
Hi Ms. Brenda! Yes I am a Thrifter n I recently found a beautiful African Neclace that cost me $7.50 it is phenomenal! Love your outfit in this video! Take care n keep bringing the tips!🥰
Lol...AMATEURS ... you can't leave after 30 minutes. Yeah, I remember my introduction to the thrift store over 20 years ago in the late 90's, it was an adjustment. I didn't know what to make of the price tag colors and I couldn't believe the prices were as low as they were until I realized IT'S A THRIFT STORE. Also, it was (and really still is) my secret so I would be "sneaking" into the thrift store and quietly bringing my items into the house which I was living with my parents at the time ... growing up, it was "taboo" to shop the neighborhood thrift stores. BUT as I was beginning to come into my personal style of primarily 70's vintage and dated/classic looks of the early 80's, I knew the primary place to get clothes to support my style would be none other than the thrift stores, "taboo" or not. To date, at age 48, 90-95% of my wardrobe is thrifted of which a number of my items were bought during my early years of thrifting.... AND I've since put my parents on to thrifting the local thrift stores. My husband on the other hand, not so much... it just "depends on what I see" for him, lol. Otherwise, he just let me have my fun.

Gotta watch out for shoppers waiting for you to pass on or put back an item!
That'll be me👀🤣🤣
Thrift store stalkers are a real thing!
Oh... some of them follow you, ESPECIALLY if you happen to go in the store that day all styled up.
I don't put anything down until I have paid. So when I put it down, I know I definitely don't want it ...or, I just hide it til next time.😅😅😅
@@angelasmith7139😂😂😂😂 I stalk too!

I inherited thrifting from my Dad. So, been at it for about 50 years.
I’m petite and often look in the children’s section
I always :
*Keep my hands free.

*Act non-chalant when asking the Price, don't look to excited to purchase.
Finally, bless the Items before wearing/using .
😅👌
Im going to start thifting.
Okay, but I must warn you… it’s addicting! 😆

Thrifting prices are getting to high🙂🤨
