The original anime does have an ongoing (albeit really slow in progress) fansub that's 70 episodes in as well as the tv special and 2 of the movies, and the same team also did a complete sub of it's spin-off Tatake!! Ramenman. The original manga is almost if not entirely translated (I'm not really a manga reader at all so I'm not sure). All there is to unlock in this game AFAIK is stills from the anime when certain moves happen with specific characters and/or stages, you can also play the Kinnikuman Famicom games in Game Archive mode. There's also an option to watch moves from the command list in training mode as well. Kinnkotsuman was a prominent villain at the beginning of the series when it was more of an Ultraman parody, but him and his partner Iwao became the Bulk & Skull of the series after the first arc or so. He's only playable in the Generations/Ultimate Muscle games and he's kinda shit in those games as you'd expect. Neptuneman is in fact Hulk Hogan who gained magnet powers, he even has the Axe Bomber (a lariat/clothesline) which was Hogan's big move when he wrestled in Japan. He was previously known as Quarrelman until he attempted suicide by jumping off a bridge into the River Thames, that's where he would find Neptune King/Big the Budo and became Neptuneman. Barrerfreeman is two Swedish choujin who were conjoined together: the young, inexperienced Nils and the old lecherous Jiijoman (who was a once-famous choujin that was sealed away in a tree for 200 years). "Dio" is Lord Barracuda, an alternate persona Robin Mask took when he was Warsman's trainer. Mongolman was Ramenman in disguise, and messiah was when he first appeared since his casket match against Warsman.

To no surprise, AKI Corporation developed this and it was a banger like all of their other games I'm aware of was. Edit: Whatever happened to AKI? I looked them up and they changed the name of their company, but they're still around. I wonder if they could ever put out wrestling games again and how different the WWE 2K games would be if it were in their hands.
AKI was in financial troubles by the time muscle Grand Prix 2 came out, which they had to rebrand under syn Sophia. They are still around today working on style savvy, pretty rhythm games as well as the recent fashion dreamer games.

Jiijoman then struck a deal with the young wrestler, allowing him to escape the tree by merging with him.
