This song isn't about war between Ukraine and Russia!!! This song is about deportation of whole Crimean Tatars nation from Crimea to soviet republics of Middle Asia, that happened on 18th May, 1944, during WW2..
Russian aggression towards Ukraine has never stopped since the beginning of the Russia. But the song is about homeland of Jamala - Crimea. And about deportation of the native habitants of the Crimea in 1944.

YES yes yes yes ! We. Too!! can hear the voices of the souls lost in 1944. Today this song is one of the most moving sings I've ever heard my life.i can't even understand the words.& it makes me cry. GOD REST THOSE SOULS TODAY
When I first heard the song, I did not fully appreciate the straightforward lyrics, but it's really grown on me. I love Wild Dances and Stefania, but for me, this was Ukraine's best entry. This is my favourite Eurovision winner of the century so far. A cry straight from the heart, with fantastic vocals to top
No matter how many years from that very moment has passed I watch this and realize how united and powerful Ukrainian nation is! We are unbreakable whatever happens to us, people, whatever happens!
When I heard this song first time, I didnt understand a word of what she was singing (wasnt paying attention), but I cried because of the emotion she had. I think that is a great thing if one performer can transmit emotion to somebody who is watching her on TV. Did she deserve to win, was it politics, etc. I really dont care. She sang it the way I felt it and I "believed" her. And thats why I think this song is good.
As if she’s singing for uyghurs right now when China is committing genocide against uyghurs ! Uyghur and Tatar is a relative nation ! Uyghur people can completely understand her singing without translation !
@@bakosjozsef3760 She's singing for Crimean Tatars which are decapitated from their land because of russians for no reason to be exiled in siberia. Btw hope world will recognize Uyghurs pain and help them.

And I agree with you 100% about Jamala being emotional during the song. I especially love the part in 2:18 where it sounds like she's singing while crying, and then at 2:27 where she just lets everything go. For everyone, who doesnt understand why she won. Simple answer. She unites the hearts of countries that were under soviet union pressure and corruption. She sang it beautifully, had good runs and the emotion was feelable in everyway possible. The Tree stands for the lost lives. +sunnyfunny Those Tatars fought for Germany, didn't fight for Germany because they did holocaust, they did because they were promised for a united country with other Turkic nations. This was a strategy of Germans against Russians. Additionally, not all Tatars fought for Germany some resisted against them by joining the Russian side. Simply they were trying to survive in a war scene. Don't also forget that this song received 12 points from Israel.

Amazing, sincere song. Nowadays it's rare that the singer composes his own song to tell his own story at Eurovision. Jamala did. So great this international platform is being used to send a powerful message. Some people don't like hearing the truth, they just want to hear meaningless candy pop so they dislike the song.

Very moving. Watched this on Anna from Ukraine’s recommendation. She spoke about it this morning.
Same here. :)
Yes. Anna suggests or recommends or even mentions, I watch. When I clicked the link she gave it said "The uploader has not made this video available in your country" Not a problem. I just copied "2016 Jamala" from the same line in her video description, pasted into Google and here I am.
As soon as I heard about the news with Ukraine, I immediately ran back here... please be safe and well everyone... be strong and continue fighting for what you believe in... sending my love and prayers to Ukraine from the US 🇺🇦 💙
Do you decide to keep quiet about the Syrians, Afghans, etc that your country bombed? The United States is the world’s biggest terrorist organization!
Thank you for support, this is terrible time for Ukraine. But you people really helped world leaders to hear us and made wright decisions.
This is proof that Eurovision isnt about hte music but the politics!
True
So true
+Mc Karl Putin paid the votes... It's so easy to install people in every country who can vote for you... So what? :D The greater lobby has won...
+Jerry Man the only reason she won was because of the votes
+sunnyfunny Those Tatars fought for Germany, didn't fight for Germany because they did holocaust, they did because they were promised for a united country with other Turkic nations. This was a strategy of Germans against Russians. Additionally, not all Tatars fought for Germany some resisted against them by joining the Russian side. Simply they were trying to survive in a war scene. Don't also forget that this song received 12 points from Israel.
She lives the song, i can see the pain in her eyes while saying "Vatanıma doyamadım" means i could not get enough of my homeland.
wait doesn’t Yaşlığıma toyalmadım mean I’m not old enough?
@@logi-a I can't have enough my age . Right. Actually no mention of "Vatanima Doyamadim".
@@aynurabbassoy2620 isnt it the last line of the song? I literally heard it while i red your comment.. I dont know the language but thats what it sounded like.. Sometimes chorus lyrics will change a word for the last chorus or even each time..or for end of song. Can you confirm? Thanks!
@@dana102083 thank you for correcting me. Yes, you're right. The very last sentence of the lyrics says "Vatanıma doyamadım". But haven't heard it once more other than that.

Stay strong Ukraine!! Turks are with you. 🇺🇦 Welcome to Turkey Jamala. We love you
The way she sings this song is so emotional...The more I listen, the more haunting it gets.
And now she is herself a war refugee, something which she only sang about before.
Yes, but anyway we will win🇺🇦
Пройшло вже скільки років, а досі мурахи по шкірі з перших акордів і до останньої ноти
це точно, зараз навіть сильніше, неможливо слухати без сліз 💔
This song should be sung at the opening of the Eurovision honoring every genocide that have happened in our world.

@@flexiexpress6713 😂 you’re joking right?
I wish this great song had more views and people new what it is about and how power her message is. War is the worst thing.
This is what lyrics are like from a place that really experience actual war.
war is terrible, but necessary.
Maniac7G If it were not for human avarice and thirst for power, there would be no wars

She is literally crying. Try to sing while your crying and hit those notes. Half of you idiots probably can't even sing anyways xd
Who would have thought that this song will relive history in present times. As of November 2022

Amazing, sincere song. Nowadays it's rare that the singer composes his own song to tell his own story at Eurovision. Jamala did. So great this international platform is being used to send a powerful message. Some people don't like hearing the truth, they just want to hear meaningless candy pop so they dislike the song.
Jo Nyu agree 100% beautiful unique song
This is truly one of the song that I can feel in my cells, it pressures my heart wall, breaks my breath pattern , allows me to think what they went through ..❤ her voice oh Lord! ❤
Заслужена Перемога❤❤❤

Plz, when people say she's singing off key. This was right after she won, ofc she feels like crying
Nevermind the emotional lyrics
Yes yes yes yes! To hearing over a 10000's ++ of the peoples souls that's exactly what I thought too
Came back here cause the winning song from 2018 is a crap!

Kim, it's not 90% turkish!, just 10% the rest in english!! :) :) I like it very much When I first heard it , was not really fan, but when I listen it longer, like the word, voice and the emotions! BRAVO :)
The instruments in the beginning is like turkish
