I remember being in the changing room at Zara when I was 11 and my mum asking me “how long have they been there?” I looked down and saw brown stretch marks on my hips, slightly darker than my skin. I hadn’t even noticed them before. I go through days of not being bothered about them and then being insecure about them as an 19yr old now in uni. Learning to love yourself is definitely a process 💗

I think you are an amazing Doctor. Thank you for your videos. I have a story about scars. I had a double mastectomy in 2014. I had issues with breast reconstruction and ended having 7 surgeries. I don’t want to put anyone off having reconstruction because of my experience. I had a very gnarly scar between my breasts. It was white and pulled but hey I have breasts now. I had my nipples tattooed last year. The medical tattoo artist needled my scar. I hadn’t thought about it until I saw this video. That scar is gone. I am grateful and amazed. She also tattooed my scars with flesh coloured ink. Yes I have the lines of the reconstruction but I feel so much better about my breasts.

I have some pitted scars. When I was a teenager, I had cystic acne as well as me being a picker. But the cystic acne I had was so painful. The spots that I had had from it would be under the skin and would turn dark red and purple. And whether it surfaced or not, it left indentations. And now I have scars. But ive noticed that over the years, I've done face shaving with an eye brow razor like how you see ppl doing now. And its helped with smaller scars. But its taken years for really noticeable results. Its even helped the creasing I had between my eyes from squinting. But I do still have a lot of deep scars.

    @pollych9n 3 ปีที่แล้ว +13

Scars are permanent. They never disappear. You cannot operate a surgery without creating scars
    1. Scar creams
Silicone-based scar creams work better. But make sure it leaves behind a film. If you use a cream, it creates a covering over the wound to prevent it from being exposed to air and other elements to help it help better. You can use it for 4 months, or 6 months or a year or even longer if you have darker or thicker skin. So you use a scar cream and a month or 2 later, it starts to look thicker, what should you do?
Sillion sheeting is good as well, and they have similar results to scar creams
    2. Laser treatments
Wide variety of lasers and the one are most tested for scars most are pulsed dye lasers. Pulsed dye lasers target the color red and they can help decrease the redness of the scars. You might consider using intense pulsed light or nd:YAG laser. You can also use 1540 icon laser as well and you can see pretty good results with that. You need to do the laser treatment with a doctor in a doctor's office.
if that still can't treat your scars...
    3. Injections
Typically doctors inject steroids for scars and the one they start with called Kenalog. Kenalog is triamcinolone and it comes in 3 different strengths: 10, 20, 40. Most of the time they start with 10 or dull it down a little bit. If Kenalog 10 doesn't work as we do it once a month, we move to 20, and if 20 doesn't work, we need 40.
The reason why we don't do it on all patients is that there are potential side effects of it. You can get thinning of the skin around the tissue with the steroid injection and if that happens, there's no way to reverse it. We only use Kenalog or steroid injections when the scarring is getting thick.
If the Kenalog injections aren't doing it, you've got a real scar problem.
    4. Five thorough euro cell
They inject into your scar to help break down the scar tissue. It's usually not needed
    5. Another surgery
Cut that scar out and restart over again. There's a high risk that that scar will come back, for ex there's a good chance that a thick scar will come back. You only do that when you have no other options.
If you remove scars and they keep coming back thick, low dose superficial radiation on keloid and other scars. Keloid is a thick big scar that just keeps coming back. You do surgery and once a day for the next 3 days, you do a radiation session each day and that usually works to prevent scars from coming back. The problem is there is a limited amount of radiation you can get, and it's still radiation so it's not something ideal to use.
ACNE pitted SCARRING is very different that's very very difficult to treat, best treated with resurfacing whether it's multiple chemical peels or fractional laser CO2. If it's not that bad you can use micro-needling
    STRETCH MARKS start 9:00

Hope that your able to help me since i love in San Jose Ca. I have stretch marks after having my last child which was in 1999. I lost some weight and I tried coconut oil. I just got my cell phone as a gift & learned about TH-cam. I came across a site to my surprise that says to using Vicks Vapor Rub Cream. My stretch marks are 51yrs old. But I was blessed for I live on an island and one day at the beach with my son. A young man came up to me and asked me, Why wasn't I wearing a bikini. I explained that I had stretch marks. He told me that men don't even noticed them. They noticed a shapely body. I smiled and thanked him since then I had wore a 2pc. I never had anyone mention them. I went to the Dollar store purchased 4jars used nightly. I notice that my s/m was getting lighter and my skin was feeling smoother. It also help with my spider veins. Just think if I had known about the Vicks earlier I be running around in my itty bitty bikini. SMILE

I have a couple questions. One, why does silicon work? I have had my scar sanded down twice. It doesn’t bother me all the time but as I’m getting older I’m noticing I’m getting a major wrinkle there. Question 2, 30 years after the injury could silicone even do anything?
Next question regarding stretch marks. As I’m sure you know there are different intensity in stretch marks. Mine are very very very deep, a doctor told me they stretch through all layers of the skin and the only way to remove was tummy tuck to cut out the skin. For those type of belly stretch marks have you heard of anything else that may work?
I would love love if you answered because I value your opinion, I have checked and double checked your videos for mistakes or misguiding and I am so happy that I haven’t been able to flat at prove your wrong yet.

What do you do for scar adhesion? I had an external fixater on my arm from a shattered wrist. I have had scar revision surgery twice by an Orthopedic doctor. Both times it re-adheared. The second time before the stitches were even out. It makes it hard to use and twist my arm.

I have a Question - I want to know the side effects of all these treatments of stretch marks. Is there any possibility to remove the stretch marks permanently? Even if the process is slow, how long does it take to get the result? Also, there are many serums for stretch marks, do you think It'll work if used regularly for a long time?

I have a scar next to my right eye and almost on my eyelid. I've had it for thirty years. I fell and had a deep gash. At the time, there was only one surgeon in my small town and he was the doctor people went to get stitches. Unfortunately, his surgical training was mostly from his military training and experience treating battle wounds. All of this to say, he botched stitching up my wound. It isn't thick, but it is a deep scar. I've seen two plastic surgeons who both went straight into surgery as the only treatment. I thought they would at least recommend injections. I wish I could show you a picture so you could advise me. If you know any plastic surgeons in the Nashville area that you can recommend, I would greatly appreciate it ❤
