- Grab some scraps and let's collage and intuitively create.
As weird as it looks in the picture this #collage was like the state I was in when I started playing in my journal.
If we are much time out of our #artjournal and out of making regular practicing when we show up again it's difficult to start and it looks weird and ugly.
However, we acknowledge that, and we keep playing. There are no rules, beautiful or ugly. Just showing up to your art practice and feeling comfortable creating, enjoying the process, and having fun. #creativeprocess
When people say to me that they have difficulty starting, I think it's because of fear of self-judgment. As you kind of think that an artist opens their journal and makes a masterpiece on the first page after weeks without practicing.
That doesn't happen to anyone, so don't be hard on yourself.
This is only my journal. I play and explore. I could not share it with anyone. So, why be afraid of making a mess?
We never lose anything only learn and go further. 😍

Thank you for sharing your process. I love how you filled your page with color, texture and imagery.
Oh, Thank you Wendy for the kind words. So happy that you loved it. 🥰🥰🥰🥰
Love seeing the thinking and playing and layering. Inspirational. I am still adding in my fragments to my pages, but I can see myself playing in this way in the book. thanks
Hey Rose, thank you. So great you felt inspired. I want to see your fragments journal when you have finished it. 😍😍
Very cool process!!
Thank you so much. I appreciate it.
I make junk journal pages, glue paper and other scraps down, but I have yet to draw and paint freely on top of that layer of the page. I am held back by the feeling that I 'should' be able to make real-life flowers and leaves, the results always disappoint me. I have not yet found the courage to break free and paint abstract botanicals from my heart.
Your wonderful flower shapes have inspired me to try - both to paint them and to not judge myself against unrealistic and unnecessary goals and outcome that somehow I have come to believe are the only way to judge whether I'm good and successful.
Thank you for your inspiration today and always in your classes and videos.
Hi Jakki, thanks for sharing your thoughts and fears. If I can have any advice is that you grab a journal that you can feel that is only for the practice. You tell to your inner artists that you will allow yourself to be child again and play with no fears. Scribble, make a mess, dislike and be ok with that. There are many times I don't like what I create. But I know that is because of a number of factors, like I'm not showing to play for a long time, I'm not feeling good, the light and wether is not good.... many of the things that happen in life. But I do it anyway and I just close the page and create more on the next one. It's only your journal.
