You can buy suction roof cups with hooks on for this purpose. Or just peg down to ground behind van. I use ratchet straps instead of guy ropes. 😊

I'm not a fan of the purpose built awning systems. They are too expensive, especially when it is so easy to damage them. This approach also allows for use of the black netting that is good for shade, but lets the wind pass through. No reason to use a solid tarp, when creating shade is the only goal.
