Loved the twist of this when I saw it back in the 80s on VHS, that you think at first the baby is the actual monster, but then big momma comes along....

Loved this film when I saw it on BBC 2 back in the winter of 1981 along with King Kong & the Beast from 20000 fathoms

Quite impressive visual effects...for its time.
Love the final attack scenes with absolute panic...I mean listen to the sound of big Ben being smashed and you can hear the bell crump inside the tower as all hell breaks lose.

I went to see this back in 1961 with a few schoolmates. All of us 14 yrs old. As long as we behaved ourselves we were allowed in. I remember feeling sorry for Gorgo.
This movie is probably one of my favorite non japanese kaiju films and way better than reptilicus
as a kaiju fan i quite enjoy this one, its part of my rotation even though it wasnt made in japan. clearly, they took a lot of influence from godzilla with the dedication to the miniatures and suit acting
also, a lot of ppl around the world probably got a good kick out of london getting knocked down a peg

Was McCartin alone on Nara Island when the adult Gorgo attacked? I didn't see any other people in that scene.
Maybe the other islanders were probably out in their fishing skiffs when ogra attacked the place and likely came back to one hell of a mess and no means of being able to communicate with the mainland although I doubt they'd want to anyway as it caused them no end of trouble

Don’t know why Sam got so uppity, it was his idea to capture it.
My guess is he started to regret his idea of capturing gorgo some form of guilt about taking a creature from its home and using it as an attraction for people especially after gorgo's capture resulted in the likely death of one of the crew members of his ship
