That would be because they had splash most of it out of the bowl. They honestly don't need too much water, they had plenty evident by the wet head feathers
The one at 0:45 is missing a bunch of feathers. Is he alright? :( Very cute birds though, love to watch them beep and flap around! I keep getting finch videos recommended to me and for some reason I keep watching them.

Yeah he's fine - his sister tended to pull feathers out at the end of preening, so I've had to separate them.
