@@MrMario2011 It appears that something has changed recently because the psx-place link has most CFW downloads crossed out. Standard CFW is unavailable, but Cobra CFW is still available. Not sure why. I tried on both FireFox and Chrome, so I know its not an issue on my end. Wonder what happened and where else that's safe I should download CFW from? Edit: Well I read a bit into it, apparently OVERFLOW has been removed, and poster STLcardsWS said: "OVERFLOW CFW has been removed for violation of site rules." You may want to edit your video now if that link is no longer available moving forward.
Already stated in the video any 4.85 CEX CFW can be used. That page will change as well as new CFWs come out, the process is still the same and can still be completed just fine.
@@MrMario2011 OK thanks, I just wanted to make sure since I'm a little OCD about these things and don't want to make a mistake. I've decided to install REBUG 4.84.2, which is making things a bit more confusing since I'm not sure if I should update to 4.84 or 4.85 OFW. I'm reading 50 different tabs trying to make heads or tails of it all.
Fix for the "exploit initialization failed" So, reload the page, hit "initialize exploitation" Then, at 10% close the internet browser, open it again, then open the page from history. Should work now. If not, try deleting cache and start over.
@@lisov4575 happened to me as well. I bought the cheapest crappyest usb drive that I could find. It's so cheap that it won't even format to NTFS. But it works like a charm on the PS and Xbox. You could try changing the usb drive. Also, as Mr Mario suggested, get one with light indicator. Good luck.
That did not work, can you help me out, I'm trying to use the nand dumper on a 4 USB PS3, nothing I've tried works the exploit initialization always fails.

@@cynical3855 I managed to reinstall vanilla firmware back to it but I cant use multiman anymore. However I can still launch the games I added via PKG. I'll just have to wait for CFW to be properly updated to 4.86 to re-install it.

I just did my very first Jailbreak on a Slim PS3 and this tutorial is very thorough I successfully install CFW on my PS3 without any issues, One thing changed in my method is the CFW I used is Ferrox Cobra instead of OVERFLOW CFW since they got booted out by PS3XPLOIT team. Worked on a CECH-2201A on 4.5 OFW except for freezing on the NOR flashing portion (turned off the system, re-started and redid the NOR flash with success). Installed Cobra CFW Rebug Lite with success. Excellent tutorial, thank you.

For those of you asking about 4.85 OVERFLOW (Standard (ccx) Edition) being removed by violations, go ahead and download 4.85 REBUG LITE which MrMario2011 recommends in the description of the video. I used the first download link provided in this (th-cam.com/video/d_TS497vDa8/w-d-xo.html) video description. The MD5 hash is in the name of the file. Be sure to rename it but copy down the hash before you erase it. Good luck!
Just a heads up, if you leave the usb stick in your computer and you have USB boot enabled in your start up priorities, it will not load your windows. Totally screwed with me for a few minutes. Just the black screen with flashing top left dash symbol. Otherwise, I will give a heads up tomorrow evening when finished with the PS3. Thank you.
Great work man , Most detailed and easy to understand video out there with precautions and all the links provided. Took me around three hours to jailbreak but the work is done. Couldn't install update through Recovery mode , I've Slim 3.50 firmware. Installed twice anyway through XMB though , Did once thought it wouldn't make any difference but then saw PsyChecker and realised if both ROS doesn't match then it could brick my System. (It didn't match obviously) So using XMB , Did it twice. Work is done. Thanks man. (Do add new CEX standard link) +1 Subscribe. :)
if the exploit keeps failing you might want to try setting the dumper/writer as the home page instead of the bookmark, it seems to work better for me if i do that

Unfortunately, I'm getting corrupted status on the final step. I tried it with both Ferrox and Cobra, but it won't work. Final step aside, this was a good guide. Just sucks the CFW you're using was deleted for seemingly no reason :/

hi, i'm usually using a DS4 controller on my PS3 and i hadn't any DS3 controller so i was stuck at the factory mode launching part, it's a stupid problem but make sure that you got a DS3 controller and if not, buy one or just find a friend that got one
You know every time I see a video like this I think the following "This won´t work, Software will be missing or the horrible answer a survey and get nothing, I'll get halfway through and it will go terribly wrong" But NO 100% Jailbroken. I followed everything in the video except I installed the only cfw that was available at this time, 4.85 SPY COBRA 8.01, as 4.85 OVERFLOW (Standard (cex) Edition was unavailable for some reason and crossed out. Ps3 games work fine, but when launching ps2 games (iso's or actual disc - i tried both, using multiman, webman, and managunz) the ps3 goes to a black screen and freezes, controller wont connect and I have to do a hard restart. Is there anything I can do to get my ps2 games to work? or is it an issue with the spy cobra cfw? Thanks in advance!
I'm having the same issue on my European BC 60gb phat model, can play ps2 disks fine but not when I try back them up & play through multiman, megamodz? & ps2 classics launchers. I get black screen & crashes. Please help
What i did was toggle QA when on spy with my backwards compatible ps3, then i downgraded from 4.85 spy to 4.84 rebug and now my ps2 games are working properly on rebug and once spoofed it showes 4.85 and i can now play online

Install Rogero downgrader. Then install any version of a Rebug toolbox, go inside toolbox all the way to the right it should say qa toggle, enable it. Then install qa toggle and run it. The ps3 will beep twice and restart. Then install your choice of cfw.

This really isn't complicated. All can be done within an hour if you're taking every single safety precaution, which this tutorial covers. The main process is installing an update, patching your system, then installing a CFW.
MrMario2011 sorry to bother you again but I have a question. I’m pretty sure I did everything right but when I plug in the usb to do a custom firmware update it says “version check” instead of 4.85.1 hfw. Do I proceed or......... Edit: messed up the files. It has the file name now.

Hi I am doing this today, and Overflow is marked out on the site. EDIT: Cobra is just fine! Use Cobra for future reference. The hash number is in the file name before "_PS3UPDAT.PUP"
Resurrected my old cech2003b on ofw 4.65 from a box in the loft. Guide worked perfect but spent 2 days trying to get my ps3 games to work after reading them in with multiman. Had no joy with the overflow firmware that the guide used nothing would work. So today I loaded the latest rebug 4.85 lite and straight away every thing worked. Have noticed your guide links have changed to the rebug firmware now. Total noob here so thanks for the great guide.
Thanks for your help Mr Mario, I finally got this working. I encountered the dumbest problems along the way though haha. I was trying to upgrade the HDD to 1TB from 320GB while doing this tutorial simultaneously and couldn't remove the screws from the old hard drive casing due to the thread being so warn. Next problem the MD5 check which kept giving me a big red X (double clicking instead of simply highlighting solved this) Next problem was the cursor wouldn't move on the PS3xploit page when I opened it on my PS3, this was solved by deleting search history, cache, cookies etc and creating a blank page, closing the browser and starting again. The rest was fairly straight forward thanks to your in depth tutorial, so once again THANK YOU.
Thank you! Worked perfectly after all! The Online MD5 Checker gave a fake red cross on 2nd check on the video for me but I compared the result on two other checkers and pressed onwards and now everything works! BIG thanks to you! :)

This is the best tutorial i have ever seen, It took me three days jailbreak my game, but i succeeded, Well, I'd advice if you are having issues downloading the dump for NAND using a Flashdrive, Get an android phone with SD card and you are good to go

Need urgent help. I am doing fine up to 30:37 which patching the flash_45.hex onto the PS3 . I have a FAT PS3 and it is NOR. When I do the dump of the flash_45.hex, I am getting an error that says EXPLOT initiation FAILED. I don't know what do do next. I tried the 2nd dump again and I get the same error. EXPLOT initiation FAILED.How do I solve this? What will happen if I turn of my PS4. Thanks in advance.

@@TheRobinSystem do the check with minverchk if it says you can install a firmware of 3.57 or higher you are out of luck.

ive tried a 4gb 2.0 usb and a 128gb3.0, both doesnt show up with the dump.hex file. i dont know what to do. it says operation complete everytime.

hi, i'm usually using a DS4 controller on my PS3 and i hadn't any DS3 controller so i was stuck at the factory mode launching part, it's a stupid problem but make sure that you got a DS3 controller and if not, buy one or just find a friend that got one

Glad this helped out! For every person like you, there's another person who throws their hands up and claims this is 100% fake if they can't get past a certain step. 😂 4.85 REBUG Lite is the current recommendation for a CFW.

I followed everything in the video except I installed the only cfw that was available at this time, 4.85 SPY COBRA 8.01, as 4.85 OVERFLOW (Standard (cex) Edition was unavailable for some reason and crossed out. Ps3 games work fine, but when launching ps2 games (iso's or actual disc - i tried both, using multiman, webman, and managunz) the ps3 goes to a black screen and freezes, controller wont connect and I have to do a hard restart. Is there anything I can do to get my ps2 games to work? or is it an issue with the spy cobra cfw? Thanks in advance!
I'm having the same issue on my European BC 60gb phat model, can play ps2 disks fine but not when I try back them up & play through multiman, megamodz? & ps2 classics launchers.

What i did was toggle QA when on spy with my backwards compatible ps3, then i downgraded from 4.85 spy to 4.84 rebug and now my ps2 games are working properly on rebug and once spoofed it showes 4.85 and i can now play online

Make sure your USB Drive is FAT32 and MBR. If your drive is GPT it wont work
You must rename file "HFW_4.85.1_PS3UPDAT.PUP" to "PS3UPDAT.PUP".

When I try to put the spy on the ps3 it say the data is corrupted
Install Rogero downgrader. Then install any version of a Rebug toolbox, go inside toolbox all the way to the right it should say qa toggle, enable it. Then install qa toggle and run it. The ps3 will beep twice and restart. Then install your choice of cfw.
@@hughjanus6630 This is silly. downgraders are not needed. Especially since you can QA flag on any 4.21+ CFW.

This really isn't complicated. All can be done within an hour if you're taking every single safety precaution, which this tutorial covers. The main process is installing an update, patching your system, then installing a CFW.

Thank you so much for your complete guidance! It works for me although my PS3 was frozen when I did NOR flash dump. In my experience, just restart and redo the dump and everything goes well.

Resurrected my old cech2003b on ofw 4.65 from a box in the loft. Guide worked perfect but spent 2 days trying to get my ps3 games to work after reading them in with multiman. Had no joy with the overflow firmware that the guide used nothing would work. So today I loaded the latest rebug 4.85 lite and straight away every thing worked. Have noticed your guide links have changed to the rebug firmware now. Total noob here so thanks for the great guide.
Thanks for your help Mr Mario, I finally got this working. I encountered the dumbest problems along the way though haha. I was trying to upgrade the HDD to 1TB from 320GB while doing this tutorial simultaneously and couldn't remove the screws from the old hard drive casing due to the thread being so warn. Next problem the MD5 check which kept giving me a big red X (double clicking instead of simply highlighting solved this) Next problem was the cursor wouldn't move on the PS3xploit page when I opened it on my PS3, this was solved by deleting search history, cache, cookies etc and creating a blank page, closing the browser and starting again. The rest was fairly straight forward thanks to your in depth tutorial, so once again THANK YOU.
Thank you! Worked perfectly after all! The Online MD5 Checker gave a fake red cross on 2nd check on the video for me but I compared the result on two other checkers and pressed onwards and now everything works!

This is the best tutorial i have ever seen, It took me three days jailbreak my game, but i succeeded, Well, I'd advice if you are having issues downloading the dump for NAND using a Flashdrive, Get an android phone with SD card and you are good to go

Need urgent help. I am doing fine up to 30:37 which patching the flash_45.hex onto the PS3 . I have a FAT PS3 and it is NOR. When I do the dump of the flash_45.hex, I am getting an error that says EXPLOT initiation FAILED. I don't know what do do next. I tried the 2nd dump again and I get the same error. EXPLOT initiation FAILED.How do I solve this? What will happen if I turn of my PS4. Thanks in advance.
It won't always initialize the first time. Keep trying.
