The gi isn’t dead. The gi is a grip template for no gi
My gym has very similar logic. We train for MMA but mostly roll with gi bc the friction makes it harder to "slip" out of subs thus making us play more technically

I strongly recommend going to any local credible bjj school in yr town and watch a class.. talk to the woman in there, n if there are no.. n there will b but if theres none.. ask for a demonstration that you can be involved in... have them show you how to do a few basic things n ill bet yr mind will b blown away n you see that what i say about a woman that knows some bjj going against a man that doesn't.... he's dead fkin meat all day long!
