    Had to smile a bit - Michelin tires are the absolute worst for browning. I remember one vehicle that I had to clean 8 times before I got nice white foam. Good practical demonstration - thank you!

    Greetings from the Ohio Porters.🇺🇸 Ahhh…it’s good to take care of those nice, new or newer tires. I like that you were honest about having to possibly clean them 2 or more times before they really change enough. 🤩 A good brush makes all the difference. Like the old saying…”You get out what you put in” is very true in this case! I like to clean, degrease my tires when I take them off to rotate them, but that doesn’t always work because that process takes HOURS. But it’s very effective!! 😎 Here’s something that I’ve found as a backup…I take some 2x6 or 2x8 blocks of wood, place them under each tire, drive upon them. This gets the tires off the ground and allows me to get to the entire side of the tires. It also raises the tires up so I don’t have to struggle as much physically. I’m usually washing the entire vehicle as well at this point. When I drive off those blocks I know that they’re clean, treated and dried enough for me to show off my hard work. Remember, most of us don’t have the luxury of doing them in a nice big garage. Enjoyed your video! 🤩 Keep em coming! 😎✌️

    Fine video. FYI the browning is also due to anti-ozonant that tyre manufacturers use to prevent the rubber from stiffening prematurely. If you store completely clean tyres for 6-12 months without them coming in contact with any dirt, they will nevertheless begin to look brownish due to exuding of anti-ozonant.

    • @thebrasstack6523

    • @thebrasstack6523
      @thebrasstack6523  ปีที่แล้ว

      The browning of the tires could also be from the “anti-ozonant” that they put in the rubber. It’s hard to get it to completely go away. But if you stay at it and keep doing this process over again, you’ll eventually get most of it off. If you’re worried about your wheels, just use a separate safe wheel cleaner for them and use a more harsh cleaner on the tire.

  • @BobStoneBoi
    @BobStoneBoi 3 ปีที่แล้ว +9

    I suggest not diluting your degreaser for tires. You want full force on it for less time spent cleaning. Then scrub the cleaner in with the brush without soap and water. Then scrub with soap and water, and rinse. I can guarantee you will spend a lot less time on wheels and tires.

    Quick question, can you use this method on the whole tire on the car while it is parked, if I hire someone to do that? To succeed at diminishing new tire outsourcing you must treat the whole tire, both sides. Or do i need to put car on lift, like a garage does?

    • @thebrasstack6523

      We have never done anything but the outer face of the tire. It is nearly impossible to do the entire tire (especially on smaller cars with very little wheel well space) without actually taking the wheel off the vehicle. We currently do not have the tools or equipment required to do that. With that said, not cleaning the rest of the tire is not going to affect the tire’s lifespan. Hope that helps!

    I have a question about using degreaser, I saw on tik tok that using degreaser makes your tire rot for taking the oils off the tire. Myth?

    • @thebrasstack6523
      @thebrasstack6523  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There aren’t really “oils” in your rubber tires. However, some stronger degreasers have been known to dry out the rubber a bit, especially on older tires. So just make sure you dilute your degreaser to the recommended ratio on the product label and use a good tire dressing once the tire is dry to help replenish any moisture that the rubber has lost. Hope this helps!

    The brown is from within the tires it's called tire blooming if you are using all purpose cleaner degreaser cleaner it contains sodium that will make tires brown out because of the natural blooming from the tires. So reduce your APC to 4 Part water and 1 Part degreaser.

    You are dissolving the factory UV protection from the tire .
    ??

    • @thebrasstack6523
      @thebrasstack6523  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The “factory UV protection” is called antiozonant. This product is not just on the outside surface of the tire. It is mixed into the rubber during the tire manufacturing process and it remains in the rubber throughout its lifespan. What I’m talking about in this video is the antiozonant that happens to be on the outside surface of the tire. When driving down the road, it’s constantly getting ripped off of the tread area by the pavement, but the product remains mixed into the rubber, so it’s not a big deal that the outer layer is constantly being removed. On the sidewall, however, it doesn’t get constantly removed, so when it’s exposed enough dirt, grime, and other normal environmental elements, it turns a gross brown color. That’s why we use this process to clean all that off. Most quality tire dressings these days have a uv protectant in them. So once we clean those sidewalls, we add a tire dressing to replace any of the uv protectant that we scrubbed off in the cleaning process. But once again, it still really isn’t a huge deal since the rubber has the antiozonant throughout. Hope this helps!

    Here's a tip which I've yet to see anyone do. Get (4) 1' pieces of 2x12 and put them under (behind) your tires, slightly toward the inside of the tire. Back your car up onto them so that your tires have a 1.5" gap under them. Then you can wash all the way around the tire and you don't wind up with the little flat spot at the bottom that never gets scrubbed or treated with tire shine.
    Or if you have the time - just take off each wheel and do it the right way. :)
    For God's sake - don't use a 2x4! According to "The Brass Tack", all kinds of mayhem can ensue.
    Obviously, you can just roll your car forward after washing the majority of the tire to get to the spot underneath but I don't like getting in my car when I'm all wet and soapy so I use the wood trick. I've done it for years and never killed myself or anyone else.

    • @thebrasstack6523
      @thebrasstack6523  ปีที่แล้ว

      Here’s a tip: NEVER pull a vehicle up onto 2x4s. That is extremely dangerous for many reasons. Instead, once you’ve cleaned the wheels & tires, simply pull the vehicle forward or backward about 12 inches and finish the missed areas.
      You are definitely right though about just taking the wheels off and “doing it the right way.” I do have the ability to do that, and I do it for certain clients. But that service is more expensive than leaving the wheels on (as it should be) and most clients don’t want to pay that extra cost.

      It requires a stuff brush like what he has. I have one with a longer handle, so I can get in there and apply a lot more pressure with both arms. I first wash my Defenders with a mixture of dish detergent and liquid Tide HE (just about a 1/4 cup each in a 5 gallon bucket of hot water). Use a tight circular motion and as heavy pressure as you can stand, and about 3 minutes per tire; then rinse them well. USE RUBBER GLOVES.
      Last step for me is Super Clean and the same brush just rinsed off. Super Clean is about $20 for a 1 gallon jug at Walmart. Use a spray bottle and spray it on and scrub it immediately with the same brush with tight circular motion. Watch as brown gunk runs off. Scrub some more, adding a few more spritzes of Super Clean. Rinse, scrub, rinse, scrub, rinse done making sure you get every last bit of Super Clean off the Defenders. Done. Enjoy your Defenders as they were made to look; very black and looking brand new.

      It all depends on the apc you use and how it’s diluted. Some are better than others. That’s why it may require doing it more than once. There are cleaners out there that are made specifically for tires that will probably do a better job, but an apc will do if that’s all you have on hand.

    You know a lot of people do appreciate these videos and I do appreciate some of them but if you don't know how to use degreaser and scrub a wheel and tire to get it clean.. smh.. I think they get driver's license to anyone these days

      Believe it or not, a lot of people have no idea where to begin. It surprised me too. But at the end of the day, they’ll never know if nobody shows them. I’m sure there are plenty of things that I have no idea about, that some people would consider common sense. So if you don’t know how to clean your wheels & tires, here ya go. I’m just here to help out!

      Roads ToMadness did he scratch the tires or did he scratch the wheels? I’ve never heard of anyone scratching a tire. Unless they used something really sharp that cut into the rubber.

    Talk less and show the results if u have good product why bla bla bla

    • @thebrasstack6523
      @thebrasstack6523  ปีที่แล้ว

      The “bla bla bla” is to thoroughly explain things to the folks who have no idea what they’re doing and who need step by step guidance. There are so many videos out there showing the “satisfying” processes, and the cool before & after shots. But this channel is built to actually teach people how to do it and WHY it’s done a particular way. We would rather over explain, than under explain. This gives the folks who have never done something like this the confidence to do it without questioning if they’re doing it right.
