If it was never actually owned by her family, that’s a little different. It wasn’t clear if this was the case. If it was owned by her family, unless her families it or it was foreclosed upon, it still should have been in the family, but I can’t imagine them paying the land the whole time and never lived there longer than a few days.

As much as I'd like this to be a feel good story, its triggering. This not only happened to thousands of black people during Jim Crow, its still happening. Look up Josephine Wrights story. She just passed away, right before she was able to see true justice. Only reason she was helped at all was because her story went viral. Who knows if the stress lead to her death but she spent her final years, months, minutes fighting land developers.

But still somehow eventually lost the farm to the government (all the crops and animals) but still have all the land and houses on it and mostly all descendants agreed on not selling their portion of it to this day ❤ it's a shame with how quickly all the property that's been stolen and burned over the years.... Yet it takes them so long to build her new place on that land... because I've seen entire malls be built in less time. But a win's a win.

The amount of Black American families that have similar stories is astounding. But we constantly get gaslit that by speaking up we’re playing victims 🤦🏾‍♀️. We ran to the north and other places from white terrorism NOT voluntarily migration. And the years of lost equity and wealth and poverty we experience today is a direct result of that. Even if someone wants to be obtuse and pretend white privilege doesn’t exist--the ability to not be terrorized in every area of life and attempts to better your quality of life for centuries based on being black says otherwise.

Very touching story. This shows that good things happen when you are a good person. 😊

@HisBigGreenThumb, no disrespect to you but it is not so much as to her being good but to the God who is good and showed Himself good to her. The hatred that was shown to her she did not allow it to get on the inside of her. In this she allowed the Lord to show Himself strong on her behalf and vindicate her. My prayer is that the Lord will allow her to live long enough to move into her new home. Great story and a wonderful act of kindness in her land being given back to her with a new house. This is of the Lord’s doing!

So the thousands of black families that never got their land back were bad folks?? Has nothing to do with someone being bad or good.

That man from Habitat for humanity takes up after his founder, Jimmy Carter. Respect to Opel Lee, CEO Gauge Yeager and President Jimmy Carter.

The founder of Habitat for Humanity is a farmer named Clarence Jordan, with co-founders, Millard and Linda Fuller. Not Jimmy Carter.🤗 His charity (The Carter Work Project) only partnered with Habitat.
Also, there are many CEO's for the different chapters/regions.
