man what a beauty. a buddy of mine has the old ex 60 like that. got to run it for a few days last summer. first time runnin the old boxer sticks and I was quite surprised at how smooth of a machine it was. was way nicer and smoother to grade with than my 07 cat 303.5, lol

Kind of of topic here. I'm from New Zealand where our second biggest export is lumber. Every man and his dog is buying old Madill swing yarders. And restoring them. There was about 15 parked in a yard down the road from me and the guy sold the lot to a big multi national company for like $300,000. Now there fully restored and front line machines. One has like 50,000 hours on.
Swing yarders here in B.C are getting more costly each year it looks like,only small handful of new ones being built,and still good demand for their services of small manpower crew,versus tower logging.
I ran an old john deere 290 of the same vintage at the vancouver landfill. Phenomenal little machine although in not near as pristine condition as this one. We had to improvise ia little bit in the cab with the lack of travel pedals, but nonetheless she was an awesome machine!
That company had an amazing assortment of vintage gear. The mack 45 ton off highway trucks were a real gem to run. Of course metro vancouver put an end to that with the emission rules.
Type in uh20 on my channel,its on here,it used to be guarded,but sellers know taking the guarding off to sell them makes them look better,like they havent been pounded to death in the woods

SWEET! Reminds me of a J.D. 90 of years ago if it had a blade. I like the old straight machines. No confusers to goof up. Everything straight forward.
Deere sold these machines in yellow as the first John Deere 70 Midi excavator.
I have a pal that has a 490 that has a 'Made for J.D. by Hitachi Corp' tag on the cab. I believe it. No wonder they're similiar!!
