Helpful, thank you. I have a Janome 725s and I'm not going to lie, it took about 2 hours for me to sew on a button yesterday, it kept jamming but I persevered because long term, I want to use the machine to sew both the button hole and the button.
I could have hand sewn the button in 2 minutes, but long term - I don't want to have to hand sew every button on garments that I make. Perseverance is key. I just need to become more confident with the button part.....it's a bit scary with the needle almost hitting the button! x

Keep with it! It does get easier, it just needs practice. We all practice a lot before making these videos so know you aren't alone.

@@janomelife Aw, thank you. I persevered and about 1 hour later, I understood how to do it, just takes time and patience doesn't it? Many thanks for the kind words x

The image in the manual shows stitch width 3, but the instructions explain that the width needs to be adjusted to the space between the button's holes. Don't rely on this being a standard width or you might come a-cropper! Also, the picture shows the stitch length dial turned to 2, but the text next to the image correctly states that the length can be set to any number. With the feed dogs dropped, the stitch length is irrelevant - it will effectively be 0 as the fabric isn't being fed.
