- Some footage I shot of some Amtrak trains in Northern California in late May. The first two shots of the video are my first ever SC-44 Charger leaders!
The Amtrak at the beginning is number 2105 similar to Coaster train in San Diego 2105
Speaking of Coaster 2105 , It’s been scrapped and replaced by Coaster’s new SC44s.
Not sure if I'll ever like the looks, but great video. I do deliveries often in the Oakland are....always make time to see trains !

5:59 P42 number 205 has a weird horn! It's also the first video I've seen of a P42 pulling single-level Amtrak California cars!
6:24 number 133 also has a weird-sounding horn!
8:25 the Amtrak California NPCUs have the most unsual and raest amtrak livery! I wonder why they were never painted blue and yellow?
Part of me is wondering if they will bi-level cars be repainted to to match the livery of the SC44s
MrBnsftrain P42 #133 has a Hybrid K5LA
And P42 #205 has a K5L
And CDTX cabs 8309, 8301,8304 8303,8302, 8305, 8310, 8307,8308,8311, 8313, 6961,6964 have great K5LAs
Cabs 8312, and 8314 are the only 8300s that are fouled 6962, and 6965 had bell replacements. And 6963 has a fouled 1 bell hence why it sounds so high pitched but it still sounds good. The Amcal NPCUs 90215,90221,and 90218 all have great K5LAs as well.
The reason it’s not match was because npcu’s were made after that service and npcu’s were made about 2014-?
It's because the CDTX NPCUs are painted in a retro Caltrain Livery.
If you look at the stripe at the back of the charger, it doesn't match up with the coaches. Maybe there will be new coaches soon, unfortunately.

Caltrain that operates from Gilroy to San Francisco via San Jose is starting electrification work for the 50 miles of track from Tamien to San Francisco. The trains that head to and from Gilroy will remain diesel powered for now.
This charger looks so similar to the surflinener but it has yellow and it does not match with the cars

What is the max speed of the amtrak
It HEAVILY depends on the route. In the area where the video takes place, I believe the top speed is 90 mph. That goes for all of Amtrak's California Corridor trains. Other corridors have top speeds much higher, and others have lower ones.

Russell Streak Amtrak operating speed is at 79 mph. It used to be 83 mph 3 years ago and policy has changed and dropped down to 79.

The only NJT unit that sounds like that is like am unrestricted horn or smth.
