    The most RAREST Learjet's ever. Only 9 of these Lear 28's were built. Outstanding catch!

      +Duderocks5539 I was very lucky to catch this one, I just randomly stopped by the airport on my lunch break. Definitely one of my top catches yet. Thanks!

      No even less. Some were Learjet 29’s which were part of that batch of 9. There’s 3 29s and 6 28s.

      For some reason turbojets do that. That's how to tell if a plane has turbojets or turbofans

      Well, it does kinda have a jet fighter engine. The CL610 is a non-afterburning variant of the GE J85, used in the F-5 Freedom Fighter/Tiger II

    Beautiful classic Learjet. Love it. These 28s were even faster, and more impractical, than the Model 25s they evolved from.

    • @georgemallory797
      @georgemallory797 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@clifft7832 I worked on several flight lines in my day and got to see the inside of the one he signed his autograph in. It was basically a Lear 31 but with CJ610's instead of Garrett's. Had jack squat for range, I imagine!

    • @clifft7832
      @clifft7832 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@georgemallory797 That is the problem. Super fun to fly on 1.2 hour legs, but on the east coast, where they bring you down early, you would have a non-stop fuel emergency. And, since you can buy a hot rod Lear 60 for 1.1 million now, fly 7 people for 4.5 hours, and have good avionics, the emotional and historic appeal of the older 20 series is often over-ruled by logic. I miss the days of flying the 25 on air ambulance.

    Just like the CJ805, the CJ610 was developed from the J85 military engine. There was also the CF700 turbofan, which added an aft-mounted fan to the CJ610, much like the CJ805-23 added a similar-type fan to the CJ805-3.

      @@TheHDAviation Thank you, Im glad you did also. It was a long time after you shot.. A buddy called and said "hey check this vid out its crazy loud like the lear you told me you love to fly and is like fighter for civilians " .LOL ... Thinking it was a 24-25 ..Days later I looked and about lost my mind ! LOL....then came the challenge of proving that was indeed me....Being he's a buddy who's not a pilot but totally into aircraft and live out of the area and I don't see much....I took him to lunch... then swung by the airport explaing I had forgot my sunglasses in my plane (I own a Lancair 4P with a Walters 601 another riot to fly).. you can imagine the look on his face when I asked for help pushing the hanger doors open..and going face to face with N769CA!!! Priceless... lol. We still have it but engines are off as we put them on a LJ/25 being they were low time and there is a STC for hush-kits for the 25.. Crazy and stupid in my opinion as they are essentially the same aircraft except the wing! (of course) and with only 2 left flying no-one would spend Zillions to achieve approval to sell only 2 pairs.. lol. I'm wanting it for airshows or something . Its still complete except the engines and a few small parts used also for the 25....I figure since there is 1 hanging in the Smithsonian it must have real historical value.. right!! :)
      your page is sincerely amazing.. My flying friends and I are constantly checking your stuff.... Keep up the great work..

    The Learjet Model 29 was the rarest of the rare...only four production models built. I know, I wrote contracts on two of them.
    It was never intended that the company would sell a bunch since the days of the turbojet were numbered and the Model 35 was already in production. Their purpose was to plow new ground and certify to 51,000 ft, a first for a civilian airplane and the first for the FAA. At the time, no one at Lear had any confidence in the 35 making FL 510 though I will confess to one making FL 518 over the Amazon about a year before they committed to the 28/29.

      The name "Longhorn" is in reference to the wing. The 28 is essentially a 25D with the Longhorn wing. That wing was being developed for the upcoming Lear 55, the first midsize lear. With minor modifications the Longhorn wing would later be fitted to the Lear 60.
      For some perspective, the 28 has a maximum takeoff weight of 15,000 lbs. The 60/60XR has a maximum takeoff weight of 23,500 lbs.
      FYI of the 28/29 models only a total of 9 were ever built (5 28's, 4 29's). A rare airplane. I have had the honor to fly one.

    What is it about LearJet engine design that they are so loud?

    Question to the pilots: did the pilot of this jet rotate too early? I saw the wheels bounce on the tarmac shortly after getting airborn for the first time, only to resume flight afterwards.
    Or is it a normal thing?

      @mattstrap9422 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      ***** oh I heard an MD 11 takeoff and it was much louder than a 727 it was so loud I could swallow and my head was pounding and my ears were hurting from that md 11 that's why

    • @mattstrap9422
      @mattstrap9422 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      ***** yea the thing was the md 11 was louder than a 727 and the 727 was closer to me that was insane the 727 was very loud but the md 11 took off like a rocket and shook the ground for 1 minute

    Yikes ... I woulda thought theyd line the runway up so it faced down the valley ... The engineers obviously know something about the terrain and or the winds here that I dont know.
