The met…how gorgeous she is and definitely worth the beading time. Such a vibrant fully finish also. It will be fun to watch as you stitch through 2024.
Thank you!
Lovely ornaments beautifully finished! OMG the beading on the fancy lady is gorgeous! Your full coverage is also amazing!
Thank you!
So lovely spending time with you and Gary as usual! I’m glad to hear you had a wonderful holiday season! Congratulations on your beautiful finishes!!! I ❤ Rose Manor!!
Thank you so much! Hope your year is off to a great start!
WOW, your finishes are so stunning!!! Thanks for sharing. Always enjoy your videos so much. Take care of yourselves.
Thank you! You too!
Glad you had a great time celebrating with family, that is what Christmas should be about. Great beading on the fancy lady. The stitched tags /ornaments, project bag were great, its always such a gift to receive something made by hand. The hand stitched stocking were beautifully done. Have a great 2024 and I look forward to seeing more beautiful stitching. Hopefully you father can find something to help him see better, he should have his eyes checked if he hasn't already done so. I was seeing double and the Dr. put prisms in my glasses and it has helped . 😊
Thanks for the suggestion. Will include that on the list to check out.
Beautiful, elegant, stunning finishes.
Thank you so much!
Bush Market is just gorgeous.. I'd have had a hard time waiting to hang it on the wall after it was framed. At the Met was never really on my radar until I saw her finished at the Queen City retreat in October.. congratulations on the finish! 🪡👠
Thanks, Paula!
Oh the ornaments are cute. Bush Market is great and love the frame! Oh she’s beautiful! What an accomplishment! Wow her hand dying is amazing! Wow yes how lucky! Stockings are sweet as well! Happy new yr!❤
Thanks, Cindy! Happy New Year!
Oh My Gosh! Your fancy lady is stunning!so so beautiful! Also your gift to Gary was beautiful as well- loved all the vibrant colors! Thank you for sharing! Happy New Year!
Thank you so much!
Thank you for the video. I love your finished piece and the next start. I have really bad eye sight, so I have a dazor light added to the house light. Using 14 count fabric and simpler patterns helps but my other option that I love is needle point the canvas is more open and I buy painted canvas and yes it is more expensive but you are stitching you rose pattern like needle point and so you could start him on that and then he could graduate to basket weave. The other help if he stitches sit by a good window with good sunshine. I read other comments so you have their ideas. He can always go to other crafts to enjoy the arts, and I have done many other things. Bobbin lace is a lot harder on the eyes, so I went back to cross stitching.
Great suggestions! Thank you so much!
Love your beautiful finish on At the Met - you did a great job!!
Thank you so much!
At the Met is gorgeous - congrats on the finish!!
Thank you!
I get my eye doctor to make me stronger glasses that I use just for stitching, I also use a magnifier with light that I attaches to my side table, when needed. Hopefully your Dad will find something that works for him.
My lamp really helped me with 46 and 56 linen. Brightech LightView Pro Magnifying Glass with Light and Stand, Magnifying Floor Lamp with a 6-Wheel Rolling Base
Thanks for the suggestion. We'll check that out!
Blessed 2024 to you both!
Thanks, Candra! Blessings to you, too!
Happy New Year 🎊 wishing the both you all the best in 2024 🎉 congratulations 🎊 on your stunning finish! Have a wonderful evening and happy stitching 😊🧵🪡🤗🤩
Thank you! You too!
Woohoo you are rocking the all Black's shirt Gary. You will love the chocolate too. Happy new year from sunny New Zealand
We love our Kiwi friends! Hope you're having a good new year so far!
I'm awed by your fancy lady. She's gorgeous. I'm excited to see your progress on the next adventure. I think your project bag is beautiful and the colors are rich and vibrant. Happy New Year to you both may it be everything filled with blessings..❤
Thank you so much! We hope the same for you!
Such varied stitching and gorgeous finishes! Wishing you both a very Happy Healthy New Year! that includes Sophie & Bear too...
Thanks, Theresa!
Apple cider caramels sound interesting!
Your finished lady is beautiful! Congratulations
Happy Sitiching
Thank you so much!
Love watching the interaction with you and Gary, I would like to suggest for your dad Craftoptics they are little pricey but are well worth it. I was having a lot trouble stitching on linen and these helped me greatly, Lynn is very helpful. 🎉
Thanks for the tip! Much appreciated!
Happy New Year to you both! Your project bag you made for Gary is Gorgeous! As all your projects, well done!
Thank you so much!
Happy New Year! What a beautiful finish to At The Met! Your next Mirabilia looks like it will be wonderful too. Enjoyed seeing your other project updates and wonderful gifts. I get a kick out of seeing Gary's projects, especially Satchmo. Can't wait to see it completed.
Thank you so much!
Happy new year ! Congratulations on your finishes, especially At the Met... so elegant, thank you for showing us up closely the details in her beaded dress.
Also, I think I will develop a slight obsession for those letters in Women who behave :) the characters look so well when stitched that I was thinking of using that font for a project of mine with letters, but I do not know where I could find the alphabet with that font.
Happy stitching in 2024! May it be a good and peaceful year for all of us!
The designer of Gary's project is Sue Hillis. I'm not sure if she has a website, but it might be worth checking to see if she has an alphabet chart. You might even be able to contact her directly to see if there's anything she can do to help with charting letters for your project. I agree that the font she's using is really special.
The quilted project bag is wonderful! I did not see all the problems with the bag as you described them. Gary is a lucky guy to have such a wonderful bag
Thank you! :)
Your finishes look so beautiful. The progress on your Rose Trellis is really impressive.
Congratulations on all your finishes! All so beautiful! I can't remember the name of the bobbins on Rose Trellis. I think I saw them on Amazon a long time ago, but not sure. Great stitching, Gary! Very nice. I do remember the dragon. Nice Christmas gifts! Have a great week!
Thank you! The bobbins are Bob-EEZ, and they've been awesome for me! Wow! Your finish is stunning. I see your beautiful finish and I think I would like to do one. I have the Indian maiden that I purchased years ago. I think I need to get a wiggle on and just start the piece. Happy New Year’s
Pleasure as always!!❤ Congratulations on your Beautiful Finishes, Amy. Love your progress, Gary. Stitching a different version than yours. Really love the saying!!😊 Best wishes and continued blessings to you and yours for this New Year!!! Happy Stitching ❤!!!
Thank you so much!
Congratulations on another stunning finish! She is just beautiful. The good thing about your next fancy lady is that she is beadless. That baking marathon looked most impressive (wish I was there!). Wishing you all a very happy and fulfilling 2024. Looking forward to the next catch up xx
Thanks! I'm looking forward to stitching a Mira without beads. It will be a nice change this time around. :)
I wish we could have sent you some of the baking loot, but I fear it would all be inedible by the time it got through Customs.
Love love love your videos! Tell Gary I use a Mighty Bright floor lamp and wouldn’t be without it! It has a wonderful magnifying glass and lights! It makes stitching so easy and comfortable because it has a large magnifying area and a goose neck that is adjustable.
Thanks for the suggestion. We'll check that out!
Hi Amy and Gary, Happy New Year! I loved your finished stitching, which is beautiful! The stockings are stunning, and what a special gift. Happy Stitching!
Thank you so much!
Your fancy lady at the met is truly beautiful. 😊 looking forward to seeing what will go in her place for rotation of stitching 🤗😁 Happy Happy New Year 😀
Thanks, Melba! Happy New Year to you!
You asked for any suggestions for a better method for magnifying for your father and I would like to suggest the Brightech Floor/magnifying lamp on wheels which can be found on Amazon. I have had my for several years and have really appreciated the magnification and the convenience of being able to roll it to anywhere I wish to stitch. I have watched you from your first video and enjoyed all of your content. Your work is stunning; thank you for sharing it with us.
Thanks so much, Barbara! I love knowing you've been with us since the beginning, and I really appreciate the suggestion on the Brightech. Will definitely check that out!
Always enjoy your videos! Happy New Year to you both! 🎉
What Mighty abrite light do you Have? The new version ? Could you send a picture? Thank You,
You had me at apple cedar caramels, double yumm!!
Wish we could send you some, but I don't think they'd travel well. :)
Have your dad try clip-on magnifiers. My original purchase is a little annoying because the weight of them pulls my glasses down my nose. But I found a lighter weight pair on Amazon and they come in different strengths. I stitch sitting in a comfy chair. If your dad stitches at a table, he could also consider a magnifying glass with light that clips to the table. My brother uses one when building model ships. I don't know the brand, sorry .
Thanks for the tip!
I am almost 66 and my eyes are bad. I have prescription bifocals, plus I slide on a pair of 1.75 or 2.0 readers in front of my glasses. I am used to both sitting on my nose. It works for almost all stitching except 1 over 1. For this, I purchased a light and magnifier that attaches to my Q-Snap which I got from Keepsakes. All three things at once make 1 over 1 on 40 count possible for me. Perhaps one or both would work for your dad.
Great suggestions. Thank you!
Always love your channel and videos from Far and yourself. Congratulations on the finish of At the Met. Absolutely beautiful! You work so hard, and even though you have quite a few WIPS, you make very good progress on them! It’s amazing that the big Victorian house ( can’t remember the name…..rose covered cottage????) is 70% done. That will be a big treat when that is completed. HaPpY NeW YeAr 2️⃣0️⃣2️⃣4️⃣ to Amy and Gary! Best Wishes to two very nice and talented people.Come on Louis Armstrong! I’m excited about you!🎉🎉🎉
Thanks, Anne! We always appreciate your tremendously kind and supportive comments! You are one of the faves we always look forward to hearing from. Hope 2024 is treating you well!
Happiest New Year to both of you!! Great to see you! Wonderful progress from both of you! Louie will get done, Gary. Wow two finishes, Amy!! Fantastic. All the best!!
Thanks, Connie! I'm so sorry we weren't able to connect while you were over this way for the holidays, but I hope your family had a lovely Christmas celebration and trust that things went well with your appointment. Sending you hugs!
I always look forward to your podcasts! HAPPY and HEALTHY New Year!
Thank you!
I tried the headset lights, but they were bothersome. My favorite lighting source is the Vekkia neck light. It is adjustable, rechargeable, and has multiple settings. I have poor vision, so the best thing I use with my eyeglasses is the Magni-Clips Magnifiers in +5.0 magnification. Both items were purchased from Amazon. I have other lighting if needed, but I can stitch on 46 count fabric with the products mentioned.
I would agree with the Magni-clips recommendation...he might also try 14 count Aida to see how that might help him.
I have a table Magnificat lamp that I bought from Joann’s it is a goose neck type. It has a magnifier in the middle of the lamp. There are 16 LED bulbs around and under the magnifier. It’s an Ott light. It has a flip cover over the magnifier so it doesn’t start a fire. Be sure to flip that down when not in use. But be careful when you peel those sticky labels off of the magnifier. I have very soft nails and I still managed to scratch the magnifier. But it works wonderfully. Get one, take it home, keep your receipt and don’t take the labels off and if it doesn’t work for him, take it back!!
Thanks for the tips!
Hi thank you for a new wonderful video. I was having problems with my vision and didn’t realize at first that it was because of a new medication which my dr said is a common side effect so she took me off of it. Anyways during this time I saw a video from The NeedleBugg talking about the Craftoptics. They are pricey but honestly amazing. I would highly recommend!
Thanks for the suggestion. Sometimes it's better to invest a bit more up front and get a quality product that will really do the job. Will definitely check these out!
Hi Kim - Hi Gary
Your Finishes Kim is just beautiful - wow
Your Rose Trellis is just out of this world - I love this - making great progress on this.
Love your other projects especially your New Starts.
Gary - You are making great progress on Women Behave. I love the Colors of this.
Kim - What I use all of the time when I am stitching is called Mag Eyes.
Mag Eyes are similar to what the Surgeon wears. Mine does not have no light to it. Mine came as a set so there is like 3 or 4 different strengths of lens for it. With mine I can see 32 Count really good and probably higher count as well. I don’t stitch any higher than 28 Count.
I have been using mine since 1990 and I am going on my second set.
I would be so lost without them. They fit right over your head and the lens section pulls down over your eyes - you can put them as low or as high as you want them to be.
I just love using Mag Eyes.
Also too
I have a floor lamp with a Magnifier Light on it and a Magnifier on it. There is like 4 different settings to each of them. I got mine from Amazon. My Floor Lamp is a Godsend for me too. I think the name of it is called Briterite or something like that. I love my Floor Lamp.
I hope that this helps you out and that you find something for your Dad to use so he can see to stitch.
Take Care & Happy Stitching
❤️🤗🙏🧵🪡🧵🐾🐶🐾☕️❤️
Thanks, Linda! Really appreciate the suggestions for my dad! I'll check out those Mag Eyes.
@@globetrottingstitcher - I buy the Mag Eyes from my LNS - House Of Stitches - they are online. They are re-doing their Website right now.
@@lindaklinedinst9236 Thanks for the heads up!
Happy new year to you both, lovely finish, it the R in Gary work in the right place, if it is I am sorry. Thank you x
Thanks for flagging. We'll take a second look!
I find a magnifying light is a personal thing. Yes recommendations are good but please know that’s what is right for one person may not be right for you. I bought an expensive one that was recommended but the lens was plastic and I couldn’t use it. My eyes prefer a glass lens. So see if you can try before you purchase or make sure you can return it if it doesn’t suit. Good luck with finding what’s just right.
Really appreciate this feedback, and I agree. I'm hoping we can land on something that works well for him without trying too many (potentially expensive) options.
A few years ago, I thought I was going to have to give up cross stitch! 🤦♀️(I’m 65) I went to the eye doctor and he measured the distance from my eyes to where I hold my cross stitch (I had my frame with me). Game changer!!!! I’m currently working on 40 count linen. My favorite is 32.
Wow! That's good to know. I'll definitely recommend to him.
