It was a show almost everybody watched, mostly because it was great, but also because there were only SEVEN channels to choose from on TV. So, as a result, you would watch a show or a sporting event on TV then be able to talk about it with a lot of people because there was a pretty good chance they watched it too. Different times..nowadays there are thousands of channels to choose from, so much variety in programming, etc. which creates different viewer markets, so it is rare for a mass audience to share the same viewer experiences, conversations about shows, cultural references, etc... It is a different world when it comes to TV viewing these days!

Ratings were consistently strong until the very end of the show. There were ups and downs occasionally, but it was a widely popular show that had fans of all ages and both men and women liked watching it. I hope that gives you some perspective on it!

She was shy and an introvert in public settings. It often made her seem “stuck up,” but she was just shy. She wasn’t comfortable in interviews because she said people always expected her to be naturally funny, which she wasn’t.
