    YES! BEST de-cat video rn on TH-cam for the Scrambler 1200 XE. You do such a comprehensive job explaining all of the details, steps, and parts to aquire. It definitely makes me more confident to wrench my own. Thank you so much!
    If you own an XE or XC you NEED to subscribe to this man's channel ASAP. I still go back and watch his old videos on the XE. So helpful.

    That's a sexy H pipe. I got a 2022, so I think it's got a factory H pipe. The previous owner put Zard slip-ons on it, so no CAT either. Definitely sounds mean.

    Great install video. Let the bike sit overnight than start it and allow it to idle for 20 minutes. This will allow the computer to properly program and you will not get the backfires and other issues. Cheers 👍

    I de-catted my speed twin. Man it roars now, also helps with the engine heat. Yours was a lot easier. I had to undo the whole left side of the frame on mine.

    Great video sir! Did you have to do anything to the ECU when eliminate the DECAT?

    Maybe I'm just looking in all the wrong places but I can't seem to find a definitive answer to the torque setting for the header bolts you tighten starting at 8:45 in the video.
    I have seen 10nm and 19nm for related parts, but the labeling was crappy and I am still unsure.. Watching how hard you twisted I am guessing the 19 number to be the ticket..? 10 seems awful light, but then these things heat up.. Just really want to make sure and avoid damaging my heads.. lol..

      Good-n-tight is what I did, just dont over tighten them. Then run it for a bit and recheck.

    All I did was throw headers into a vice and knock the guts out of cat case with hammer and cold chisel lol. Took a little while but eventually the insides all fell out in small chunks. Total cost $0.00 lol. Just an hour or so swinging the hammer and shaking the cat housing 😁. It still looks factory, just sounds and performs way better👍

    I notice you had painted all the silver colour parts into black. I was also thinking to turn most of the original silver parts of this bike into black when seeing the bike in the showroom. May I know if you just used canned colour sprays to do that or you used “Powder Coating” method and put the coloured parts into an oven... to finish the colouring? Cheers!

      Autobot I used VHT Enamel. It’s not as good as powder coating but works pretty good

    Hey man. I've got an XC and riding in AZ, so you can imagine the heat from the cat is annoying here. Did you ever consider doing a header wrap? I saw that you wrapped the exhaust on a prior scrambler 900. I'm interested in keeping the cat. Just wondering if you went the decat route primarily for weight, or if there was more. Thanks!

    With the decat and lower temps, is the heat unbearable or quite noticeable in traffic or while sitting at idle?

    Isn't there a copper washer inside where the right header mates with the cylinder head? Did you re-use it? Awesome how-to video!

    Is that smoke when near the right collector when you start the bike? I installed the Zard Decat and had the same issue, is that normal or maybe some pieces are too loose? Thanks ! Great video !

    Can you tell me the diameter of the pipes used in this kit? I was watching the TEC videos and the guy there said that some manufactures of these kits are using pipes that are too small. I believe the stock pipes are 45mm. Thanks and please keep the XE videos coming.

    • @CW4PWR
      @CW4PWR 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The guys at AJ wrote back and stated it was 1 3/4" or the stock size of 45mm. This is exactly what you want!

    • @BackDraftBikes
      @BackDraftBikes  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Same as the stock ones. I don't remember the dimensions, but they were exactly the same as stock. Stay sub'd, I have a long term XE video coming out!

    Did you have to remap after doing the de-cat? Does the heat reduction make it more comfortable or is it still pretty annoying?

    • @BackDraftBikes
      @BackDraftBikes  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No, the ECM self learns. Much less heat

      VHT I like it very much. Had bad trouble with their header paint but the epoxy paint from them is the 💣

    • @BackDraftBikes
      @BackDraftBikes  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’m sorry I don’t know what size are needed, but if you are careful you can easily reuse the old ones, they are copper.

    Curious as to a few things if you do not mind me asking; How long did you wait before you did the decat ? Miles ? Months ?And why ? How long have you now had it installed ? After the cold start, idle till operating temperature reached (ecu closed loop self learning process), have you noticed any significant difference ? (have not found your follow on review yet. I did watch your 1000 mile review). Ride safe !

    • @BackDraftBikes
      @BackDraftBikes  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I rode it a full year, about 3500 miles. I wanted more power and mainly wanted to deal with the heat (which is pretty bad when in traffic). I noticed a better sound at idle, much better initial throttle response, but not much in the higher end revs. Thank you for the comment! I am working on posting the updated review...soon!
