This hits close to home. I worked at Burger King for 20 years. And some people who worked with me moved on to better jobs. So when they would see me they would say "your still here" or "can't you find a better job?" I would always say to "listen bills need to get paid and my family needs to be taken care of so yes im still here and it's paying my bills and taking care if my family" needless to say not everyone in life has success don't brag on someone or put someone down because of their job

my grandmother went from being the first female industrial engineer in the specific company she worked for to being an associate at a walmart in her later years. such a big pay difference but not once did she ever work less in walmart. she was always hardworking no matter what job, as she had 6 six kids to feed. less pay does not mean less of a person

My father lost his job in tech and then was too old, no other firms would take him. He worked as a deli worker in the local grocery store for 13 years starting when I was 6 or 7 years old. Never expected something to hit so close to home here.

I remember when I was younger like 19 one of buddies working grocery store came in all waisted still from the night before summer time blazing hot outside Arizona he came in and passed out on the meat and got escorted by police hahahhahahahah😂 wild
This happened to me. I had my own restaurant for a few years and then the recession hit and I had to close and was heartbroken after working so hard, had to take a job as assistant manager at a thrift store in the same very upscale beach town where I'd had my restaurant. Ultimately former customers saw me and several mocked me, including one realtor harpie who said " THIS is ALL you're doing??! and then burst out laughing. I can't say that this would bother me now as I'm older and wiser, but then it bothered me alot. People suck sometimes.

I worked in a supermarket for a year after I was made redundant from my last job. I still see people I used to work with as customers in the store, and while they've always been nice, you can tell that they're thinking "what are you doing here??" It's the head tilt. They always do a head tilt. And then I just had a customer straight up put me down for working in the store, just because I wasn't able to help him with what he wanted. I'm moving on to a better job - more pay, better hours, more flexibility - but I'm never going to forget the experience and how vital these jobs are. Everyone I worked with was fantastic, and I'm proud to have been part of the team.

I work with children but before that I used to work retail because school systems don't educate people with my type of learning disability... I have an IQ of 147... in my current job I get to help kids, even those with similar learning disabilities as myself. I give them advice and techniques to help them but until schools learn to teach to all learning types... I sadly fear the same thing will happen to them! the truth is I'm amazing in real life situations and with critical thinking skills and spacial reasoning, but without a degree I can never get paid what I'm worth... kind of a catch-22 and there's a large portion of the population who are stuck in it. also have known plenty of people who just never had the money to go to college because their parents refuse to pay, or let them live at home while going to school... just saying you sound like a rich spoiled kid

I dated a guy last year whose father is a successful businessman making well beyond six figures a year. This guy's father is a total jerk and one of his favorite activities in life is calling people that he does not like idiots. Both of the guys' parents are also very narcissistic and called people that work in food and retail jobs "undesirables." I am dating a different guy now, and him and his parents may not be rich in money but they are rich in love and acceptance. I much rather prefer someone who is rich in kindness than rich in their wallet anyday if I have to choose one over the other.
I worked in a discount shop and one day I was sweeping the floor and a woman came in with her kids and I could tell she had money. As they were leaving she walked passed me, paused and said to here kids "this is what happens if you don't do well in school".
I literally just stood there and laughed. I could not believe that she'd just said those words out loud and practically to my face. I went to college and university but landed on hard times yet I was spoken about like I was dirt 😂 It happens a lot sadly.

My father worked in grocery stores and retail stores the whole time he raised me and my siblings. He worked hard to provide for all nine of us that he and our Mother adopted. He's the most amazing and selfless man I've ever met. I'm proud of him and I'm proud to be his daughter.
