I think the editing is too chaotic, at least it the beginning. The camera view changes a lot, there are a lot of sound effects, cuts, additions, etc. I don't know, it's just too fast paced - like I'm watching shorts on long form content...? 🤔

I've always found dance of the little swans so satisfying to watch, watching non dancers try it out sort of gives you a reminder of how much hard work goes into ballet performances (the same goes for orchestral performances ofc!)

i often watch these "i tried ballet" videos and the difference between athletes who get some of the moves right but have terrible timing and expression and you guys, who are lacking in form but have great timing and musicality (as one would expect) is honestly hilarious
No joke, this video actually made me understand Ballet. I always had great respect for the amount of effort and skill those perfomers exude, but I just never got the aesthetic appeal of it from an audiences perspective. Now I do. All of those precise movements, not just of the legs and feet but also the head, perfectly in tune with the music. I know, to lovers of Ballet I must sound like some oaf who just realized that grass is, indeed, green, and I apologize for that. I'm just glad that I can finally appreciate this artform in the way it deserves to be.
There’s some cool vids on tiktok etc where ballet dancers break down the moves or compare performances. One cool one had a fellow showing how a leaping dancer can hold his arms and head, point his legs so that he looks like he is hanging in the air before descending. Etc
I highly recommend watching the two young ladies of Ballet Reign and their insight on this video. As professionals they are impressed with Eddy and Brett’s performance of the little swans, which is a difficult piece in general.
I thought so too! That's a hard dance. Your first ballet lesson is usually some plies and tendus. They kept in time, which went a long way to making them look not terrible.
The absolute dedication of the Hong Konh ballet to this bit is amazing. Best collab ever. The kindness and patience of the teacher was so heartwarming. He was so gentle with these two goofballs. And the final dance, BRAVA!
I love how respectful they are and how they tried so hard lol A lot of non-dancers trying out ballet for their videos make fun of the art form a lot and it’s just uncomfortable to watch. I’m glad it’s because 2set has an actual appreciation for classical arts

As a ballerina and musician, I was ready to go full music theory mode to a wall after I watched this. Breaking down choreography and music together would be such a fun video idea! (For example, how the sound of the rhythm the feet make with their footwork is like rhythm on sheet music, etc.)

The head movements are clearly so hard and I never noticed that about ballet before. Twoset actually found it easier to play the violin than do the head movements. I did notice that since they had different violin parts, Eddy played the melody which was harder to do the dance to than Brett whose part matched the steps of the dance
are there no little boys routines they could have taught Brett and Eddy, more within their 0 skill level? Of course it wouldn't be as funny but just wondering

@@oxoelfoxo They were there during the week when HK ballet performed Swan Lake - with famous guest dancers. They were invited to the performance as well as met with other dancers, staff members too. The stage they perform with the dancers are the same stage, where the ballet was performed. So that is how the idea came. They had many 'learning instruments in one hour' videos - never starting with basic pieces.
@@oxoelfoxo There are tons, and more than enough in Swan Lake (Siegfried's variation in Act III is both great and has a great violin part) . Frankly, as a male dancer the fact that "we try ballet" videos with guys always have them doing women's steps or variations is kinda annoying.

This video is so wholesome, not a single drop of toxic masculinity to be found 😊 Also, as someone with social anxiety that sometimes stops me for trying things I like just because it happens to be in a group setting, I love seeing videos and stuff of other people learning new things (any new hobby or sport or skill); it already takes some courage to go into something with no experience while expecting to embarrass yourself, so I really admire people who go for it anyway and even film it. It's kind of inspiring, because then I see it's not embarrassing and that some of my anxieties are irrational.
I have to say, my favourite thing about all of TwoSet's content is how it reminds you that the "high arts" like classical music and ballet still have all the informality and goofing around of more normal jobs and hobbies

Same here! Although I played viola when I was younger, I’m much more a ballerina than a musician:). Serious ballet training and performing instilled a lifelong love of classical music and a deep appreciation for the artists.

I’m seriously impressed by how well they did, but also how well the teacher guided them through! He could’ve went full on with the stretches but instead he matched Twoset’s level, which not a lot of dance teachers would do
You guys don't know how long I've been waiting for a ballet video from you guys. I understand logistics would have made it difficult, I'd have been even more ecstatic had you done it with Ballet Reign. Hopefully you can still collaborate one day though. Talk about an artform that requires 40 hours of practice a day. Good job Brett and Eddy, that little bit of dancing is actually really hard to do properly because it's so easy to get in the way of your partners if you get something wrong. I wouldn't say they were elegant, but they kept up with the tempo really well and came in and out of the dance when they should. I suppose as musicians that's not surprising but it's a skill most would fumble.
As someone who's done ballet almost all my life, I think it's hilarious when people try to do it for the first time. I learned this dance when I was like 12. You two did surprisingly well, and the changes with the two other swans were coordinated super smoothly. Not surprisingly you got the musicality down. And dancing while playing the music at the end is giving Lindsey Stirling a run for her money lol

I’m seriously impressed by how well they did, but also how well the teacher guided them through! He could’ve went full on with the stretches but instead he matched Twoset’s level, which not a lot of dance teachers would do
You guys don't know how long I've been waiting for a ballet video from you guys. I understand logistics would have made it difficult, I'd have been even more ecstatic had you done it with Ballet Reign. Hopefully you can still collaborate one day though.

Talk about an artform that requires 40 hours of practice a day. Good job Brett and Eddy, that little bit of dancing is actually really hard to do properly because it's so easy to get in the way of your partners if you get something wrong. I wouldn't say they were elegant, but they kept up with the tempo really well and came in and out of the dance when they should. I suppose as musicians that's not surprising but it's a skill most would fumble.
As someone who's done ballet almost all my life, I think it's hilarious when people try to do it for the first time. I learned this dance when I was like 12. You two did surprisingly well, and the changes with the two other swans were coordinated super smoothly. Not surprisingly you got the musicality down. And dancing while playing the music at the end is giving Lindsey Stirling a run for her money lol
